I used to be able to select text and check the box that says selection and only what i selected would print. That box is now grayed out ALL the time. How can this be fixed?
my primary printer is a Brother MFC-8670DN wired to ethernet.Operating system is XP home SP3.
If I want to print a document in Landscape format that I have typed in Word, I click on Print/Properties/Basics/Landscape/OK, and it still prints out as vertical or Portrait. How can I get it to print in horizontal or Landscape format?

This printer is connected directly to the LAN and provides networked printing and scanning to the PCs on the LAN. I have two Windows 2000 Pro PCs and a Mac OS X printing and scanning to that OfficeJet without any problems From the XP box, I can print to the OfficeJet as long as I'm logged as the local administrator. When the user logs in with her user account, she is unable to print. Her jobs get stuck in the queue, labeled "Error - Printing."

This time switching off for 10 minutes and then back on had no effect.I have been trying most of today to correct things without success. I then copied it onto a floppy, put the floppy in my friends PC - same result as before
View 4 Replies View RelatedI previously owned a Lexmark Z25 printer and up to a certain point, it was printing ok. Then it abruptly stopped printing any pages. It sounded as if it was getting the signal from the computer, but nothing would print. Rather than buy new cartridges, which would have cost more than a new printer, I bought a Dell 720. Now, the color prints fine, but I cannot get the black to print. The cartridges are just about full with only a small amount out of the black cartridge.

Whats happening is it's not printing the text of documents but if i insert a picture it will print that with no problems, even printing from the internet it will only print pictures. I scanned something that was only words and it printed that. I thought maybe it was the black ink cartrige so i put a new one in and it still isn't printing. If i put the words in a different colour it will print them just not in black.

On a 100 node network I have multiple printers with static IP?s. 1 certain printer, Marketdell, on port 172.16.2.156 is not able to be printed to from only 1 user. I have deleted the printer from the PC, shut down, turned on, Added printer opened notepad and tried to print, Can?t print.
I opened up printer and faxes, double clicked on the printer and could see the empty print queue. I then opened up Marketdell Printer Properties, clicked on print test page. Received error: Test page filed to print, would you like to view the print troubleshooter for assistance.

Hooked it up to my HP 722 printer, set it up, made it the default printer. When I go to print, a page comes out blank. I tried Word, Notepad, Wordpad, and still nothing. It does however print from the internet with no problem.

I tried restarting the print spooler and nothing. I checked the dependencies and both boxes are 'GREY' (closed) and show no dependencies listed.Im thinking I deleted some files or file required to operate the spooler/printer? View 9 Replies View RelatedMy printer has just started not to print all the full colours. It is an all in one HP PSC 1410 and now prints everything as either Yellow, Light green or light blue. I have changed both the colour and black cartridges and the computer is seeing them as full, but if I scan or print from computer it prints say the colour purple as light yellow and red as bright Yellow etc. I have tried removing and reinstalling software but that didn't cure the problem.

It works perfectly on three of the machines, but will not work on the fourth for some reason. It installs on a TCP/IP port just fine, and we can view properties and everything, but it will not print at all. I have no physical access to these computers, so cannot provide very much more information about them, but I'll try my best.

When I uninstalled and tried to reinstall it, I couldn't get it to reinstall properly. I used the original CD and I also downloaded a driver from dell.com. Neither worked. I tried to install a new Samsung ML-2010 printer. I used the included CD. It finished the install and when I tried to print the test page, it wouldn't print. It appears in the print queue as "printing" but never prints. When I reboot, I see a message on the system tray saying new hardware detected, there was trouble on the install and new device may not work correctly. I tried to do a repair from the enclosed Samsung CD but it didn't fix the problem. When it tried to print the test page, it said "not responding" in the blue bar across the top of the page
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have two laptops and one wireless (HP Photosmart C7280) printer. Our laptops both connect to the internet wirelessly through a router. I was able to install and can print wirelessly from my laptop (a Mac) with no problems. However, we cannot figure out how to print wirelessly from my boyfriend's laptop (a Dell). We have installed the printer software and the printer itself on his laptop, and the laptop is able to identify the wireless printer over the network. We made sure that the printer is set to "online" and that file/printer sharing is turned on. But, whenever we go to print any kind of a file, we get an error message simply stating that the printer was unable to print and that we should run the troubleshooter. So, we run the troubleshooter, and we get this message:"The troubleshooter was not able to ping (detect a connection with) your print server. This might be the cause of the problem. Verify that your network is configured correctly and that you are connected to the network."
I am more used to working with Macs and my boyfriend is computer illiterate, so we're a bit lost as to what this means. I was able to set up a wireless network connection on his laptop, but beyond that I'm not sure what else to do. Most of the other advice I've seen online involves a wireless printer that is wired to one computer, and another laptop trying to wirelessly access that printer through the connected computer...if that makes any sense. Our printer isn't wired to anything, and we just can't figure out why it'll print wirelessly on the Mac but not on the Dell laptop. Any ideas?
For years I have been able to print from networked computers in my home ( two desktops running XP pro hardwired, one laptop XP wireless and one desktop xp wireless) to my main computer thru a router. The main computer ran XP home edition for years until my hard drive crashed and left me without an operating system ( The PC is an HP pavillion and had the recovery disc partitioned on the hard drive). I installed a new hard drive and was able to install XP pro from my boys computer that was received from a home school company that they use. The company had sent me a OEM version of XP pro with all their sofware on it that were copied on blank cd's. When I initially set my main computer up again I was able to print from all my computers. I then grew tired of always logging on with a password that was setup by the home school company.
Now I cannot print from any computer other than the main computer where the printer is connected. My first question would be: Can I delete the users on my main computer that were setup by the Home school company and start my own user? Next: Do I need a password? I would rather not have one. I only need one user account on the main computer. If I can delete the users and passwords, should I move any or all documents out of the user I want to delete? Will any of this solve my problem of not printing from my networked printers?
