For years I have been able to print from networked computers in my home ( two desktops running XP pro hardwired, one laptop XP wireless and one desktop xp wireless) to my main computer thru a router. The main computer ran XP home edition for years until my hard drive crashed and left me without an operating system ( The PC is an HP pavillion and had the recovery disc partitioned on the hard drive). I installed a new hard drive and was able to install XP pro from my boys computer that was received from a home school company that they use. The company had sent me a OEM version of XP pro with all their sofware on it that were copied on blank cd's. When I initially set my main computer up again I was able to print from all my computers. I then grew tired of always logging on with a password that was setup by the home school company.
Now I cannot print from any computer other than the main computer where the printer is connected. My first question would be: Can I delete the users on my main computer that were setup by the Home school company and start my own user? Next: Do I need a password? I would rather not have one. I only need one user account on the main computer. If I can delete the users and passwords, should I move any or all documents out of the user I want to delete? Will any of this solve my problem of not printing from my networked printers?
Walk me through printing an envelope on my Lexmark X125. I have clicked on envelopes, then options for the envelope size, then print. The envelope comes out blank.
I've got a wireless network setup in my apartment. One desktop, hardwired to a wireless router and hardwired to a printer. Two laptops, both connected to the wireless network for internet and printing. It has been working fine for over a year now. No glitches. But about a week ago, one laptop stopped being able to print. It is still connected to the network for internet, but it won't print. The other laptop is printing fine, so it shouldn't be a network problem. The desktop is printing fine too. I've tried disabling the firewall on both the laptop and the desktop. Nothing. When I try to print from Firefox, I get the following message: Printing failed when starting the document. When I try to print from Word, I get: Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup. Try one of the following: Check the printer by printing a test page from windows. Make sure the printer is turned on and online. Reinstall the printer driver. When I try to print from Notepad, I get: The RPC server is unavailable. And finally, when I go to "Printers and Faxes" in the Control Panel, right click on the printer and choose "Sharing", I get: Printer properties cannot be displayed. The print spooler service is not running.
I have installed a printer in a remote location on four machines. They all run Windows XP (SP2 I think). It works perfectly on three of the machines, but will not work on the fourth for some reason. It installs on a TCP/IP port just fine, and we can view properties and everything, but it will not print at all. I have no physical access to these computers, so cannot provide very much more information about them, but I'll try my best.
I have Windows XP Sp2 whe i try to chanhe ip in "Local Area Connection" i got following message:" Network Connetion Folder was unable to retrive the list of network Adapters":i checked "Services" .Ok working fine then what 's the problem??

I first noticed this when i click on my dial-up connection the connection window won't come up.When i open the network connections folder in the control panel, an error message comes up with this message:The Network Connections Folder was unable to retrieve the lsit of Network adapters on your machine. Please make sure that the Network Connections service is enabled and running.
If I want to print a document in Landscape format that I have typed in Word, I click on Print/Properties/Basics/Landscape/OK, and it still prints out as vertical or Portrait. How can I get it to print in horizontal or Landscape format?
I have a problem when I try to print Word documents that contain hyperlinks or any line or image in the document. Rather than printing the hyperlink, html or something prints out and if I'm trying to print a graphic I've downloaded for example, it will not print at all. Is there a properties button or flag that I need to turn off in order to correct my printing problem?
I used to be able to select text and check the box that says selection and only what i selected would print. That box is now grayed out ALL the time. How can this be fixed? my primary printer is a Brother MFC-8670DN wired to ethernet.Operating system is XP home SP3.
My HP OfficeJet R40xi works just fine when I boot up or re-boot my desktop PC, but if I've shutdown to "hibernate" or "standby" I consistently get a "This document failed to print" error message. This problem started after I installed the SP-2 patch. I've double checked my parallel port settings in system BIOS and Device Manager and I've removed & reinstalled the driver but so far haven't found a solution.
After running a registry cleaner service. I have been unable to print. I get need to add printer. When I try to reinstall printer. I get print spooler service is not running. I first tried restarting printer spooler and I get error 1068 the dependency service or group failed to start. I tried the following that was suggested by a friend.

I have a Windows XP Pro SP2 PC on a P2P LAN. The PC is also running Norton Antivirus 2005.Also on this LAN are several networked printers, one of them being a new HP OfficeJet 7310xi All-In-One printer. This printer is connected directly to the LAN and provides networked printing and scanning to the PCs on the LAN. I have two Windows 2000 Pro PCs and a Mac OS X printing and scanning to that OfficeJet without any problems From the XP box, I can print to the OfficeJet as long as I'm logged as the local administrator. When the user logs in with her user account, she is unable to print. Her jobs get stuck in the queue, labeled "Error - Printing."
I write a file in Word and then save it.Before I print it I usually go into Print Preview just to check things out. This time however it just showed me a blank box and the printer would not print.Everything was OK for a complete day and then the problem happened again - blank preview and no printing. This time switching off for 10 minutes and then back on had no effect.I have been trying most of today to correct things without success. I then copied it onto a floppy, put the floppy in my friends PC - same result as before
I previously owned a Lexmark Z25 printer and up to a certain point, it was printing ok. Then it abruptly stopped printing any pages. It sounded as if it was getting the signal from the computer, but nothing would print. Rather than buy new cartridges, which would have cost more than a new printer, I bought a Dell 720. Now, the color prints fine, but I cannot get the black to print. The cartridges are just about full with only a small amount out of the black cartridge.
All worked as normal Printer icon would print automatically with default print settings; File -Print would bring up print properties dialogue box to select options.Unhooked printer from laptop. Since reconnecting printer, the print icon button reverts to bringing up the print properties box as happens with going File - print. There is only one printer attached - it is shown in "Printers and Faxes" with a tick. There is nowhere to check it as the default printer as it is the only printer. How can I make the print icon button just do straight default prints again?
I have an old Sony VAIO (running Win Xp) that I am using a print server. The VAIO is connected to a HP PSC. The VAIO is on a wireless network along with two other laptops. One laptop is running Win Xp and the other is running Vista. Everything was working fine as far as printing went until I reinstalled the OS on the Win Xp machine (same OS). Previously the VAIO would go offline due to hibernation and so if I tried to print something from the Xp machine, it would get in the queue and get printed when I turned the VAIO on. Now the print jobs are not getting in a queue when the VAIO is offline.I don't know what I did right before and so I don't know how to remedy the problem.

I have a 3-computer home workgroup that connects to the internet via a Netgear router. I have a Lexmark X74-75 printer/scanner/copier that is connect to one of those computers, and that computer is connected directly to the router. The other two computers print to the Lexmark via sharing. This setup has been working without issue for about 2 years, but in the past week, everything seems to have gone to hell, including the ability to print. This description may be a little long, but I have to be everything I am about to relate is somehow connected.I will do my best to also advise what I have installed, removed, etc., during that period.
I have a home network with six computers, connected to a DHCP Router and ADSL Modem. I also have a IOmega Network drive connected to the router.Well, I had to reinstall Windows XP on one of the computers, taking the chance to install SP3 directly after installation. So far so good. But when I was going to connect to the Network drive, I could not find ANY! computers when checking for them. I can connect to the router on its setup IP adress, and also the drive setup. But I did not see the volume. I also have Internet connection. I tried to ping the drive, and it worked. I tried to ping the other computers, but it did not work. Then I tried to search for the volume, and it worked. I was able to map the volume as a drive, but I still cant see it on the net. Searching for the other computers was negative.
1. When I try to run the Network Setup Wizard, I get an error at the very end that Windows was unable to complete the setup 2. When I select Windows Firewall from the Control Panel, I says that it cannot start the service 3. When I select Network Connections>Local Area Connection>Properties>Advanced (tab) it says that it cannot display some of the properties of the connection because WMI information may be corrupted 4. When I try to configure my Intel network adapter, it says that it "failed to load a network component" 5. Also, this is not related to networking but the Windows Updater has failed to install every update for quite a while now.
I am using a laptop and sometimes I shut the lid and put it into hibernate mode. When I open the lid again and the computer boots back into windows, the wireless internet doesn't work. Windows says my computer is connected to the wifi network but when i open firefox or internet explorer it just doesn't work. I am using windows xp pro.
I installed a new modem the other day cause the old one got fried. Now I am trying to print and the printer keeps giving me an error message, "this document fail to print." I tried all possible troubleshooting techniques but nothing help. I don't know what to do.
Whenever i start my laptop, for the first 2 min, i am unable to open 'network connections' or open my dial-up dialog to log on to the net. What i have noticed is that 'wuauclt.exe' is taking about 50 mb of the memory, and as soon as this process is gone, i can access my net connection.
