Right Click On File PC Hangs
Aug 26, 2005Whenever I right click a file, my PC hangs. I think some system file has been corrupted. Is there any fox for this apart from re-installing XP? I'm running XP Pro SP2 with all the updates.

Mar 27, 2007As the title states, whenever I right click on a file, beit on the desktop or in a folder somewhere, it can take anywhere between 10 and 20 seconds before I can click on "Delete" or "Rename". When I try clicking on one of the two, my CD drive (or hard drive?) starts spinning and it won't let me click on my desired action until it's up to its "cruising speed" in RPM.

Feb 16, 2006Unfortunately my PC got a virus which corrupted (amongst others) my wininet.dll file. My virus software quarantined all the infected files, but wininet.dll is needed to run explorer.exe. I have tried to recover a previous copy of wininet.dll but it is corrupt and now every time I try to turn on my PC (even in safe mode with command prompt, it crashes when it tries to load up this file). I have lost my boot disk and have no way of deleting the wininet.dll file (which would at least let windows run). how to I can delete the corrupt file?

Apr 7, 2006I have a problem with XP in that if I right click on a file the drop-down options appear and if I move down to select an option mostly I get a warning that Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. I click Debug but then get a Warning that DrWatson debugger has encountered a problem and needs to close as well. On the right click drop-down there is an option "Open with Videozilla". I have a hunch that this may have something to do with the problem because it is mostly when this is highlighted in navigating down the options that the problem occurs.
I searched all files for "zilla" and only remnants of Mozilla were found, which I removed. No Videozilla files were found. When the mouse hits Videozilla the folder closes, all icons on desktop disappear for a few seconds as if the PC was resetting. It does not crash but is infuriating. Anybody else ever experience something similar? I could be barking up the wrong tree blaming Videozilla.

My curent problem is that When I rightclick a desktop icons I only get an hour glass, the system stops responding to any thing. The only way out of it it to either log off or shut down and restart.When I open the recycle bin though it appears full on the desktop icon I could not see any item on it.If I try do delete, move this folder or any of the command on the left file/folder task pane I only get hour glass. The only way out of it is ctrl+alt+del, task manager (program not responding) end task.
