I have Windows 2000 Pro for an OS. In the WNNT folder I have a series of "hidden" folders named $NTUninstallKB(series of numbers)$.What are they and can I delete these? They seem to be taking up a lot of space.

This has to be done through the desktop PC When I insert the CD into the drive of my PC and try to run the Setup program I get the error message " Not enough free space on temporary folder" "Cannot run Setup" I can't find a Temporary folder with anything in it, I have deleted all the cookies and Temporary Internet files but still the same message.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI run Windows XP Professional. I have an 80 GB hard drive with only 3.04 GB of free space. That's 4% of free space, and Disk Defragmenter requires at least 15% to run effectively. Needless to say, when I try to run that utility I don't get much bang for the buck. The Windows file on the hard drive consumes a whopping, eye-popping 67.7 GB (size on disk: 62.3 GB) and contains 32,209 files in 1,807 folders. I've tried to clean up the temporary files. I've run the system's "Disk Cleanup" utility, including all hidden files and folder in the search, until I'm blue in the face.
I've deleted so much stuff, I hope I haven't deleted anything important. Beyond that, I don't know what to do. I recently purchased and installed an additional hard drive for storage purposes, but all of the system programs run off of the one that is nearly out of space and I get frequent computer prompts about low space. What can I do? The 80GB drive badly needs defragmenting -- we're talking so much red that it looks like the Communist flag -- yet I cannot do anything about it. How can I retake this drive from whatever there is in Windows that has just about totally claimed it?
I have a problem that give me headache. my hardisk is running out of space. it's capacity is about 19 GB and i think that enough for my Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 PC. While recking my brain toward the problem, i notice that the Windows foler in C: is too big, about 6.4 GB.! It's that reasonable, it's it? Uninstalling some programs is not my choice as i need all the program for my work. It's something can I do? of course i have done disk cleanup.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI was scanning my computer using spyware sweeper and i saw it scanning all these files that i hadn't put on my computer so i saw where that file was which was C://documentsandsettings/admin/Complete, so i got all the way to admin but there was no Complete folder! so i clicked show hidden files but it still wasnt there! i think its taking alot of my memory.

And if I open My Computer, right-click on the hard disk and go to Properties, it shows ~26GB of Used Space and ~4GB of Free Space. However, I do not understand what is taking up so much space. It is a new PC with very little data.Furthermore, if I 'Select All' on the contents of C:, and right-click for the properties of all files and folders, the Size on Disk only equals 11.6 GB, which seems more reasonable. (FYI, I have already set 'show hidden files and directories' in Folder Options)

I've noticed that once defraged since a few weeks ago I HAVE GONE from over 70% free space down to only under 40%....I don't run any major software at the moment BUTDO use the internet on ADSL most days BUT not to any great extent. View 4 Replies View Relatedi wanted to copy a cd image 4.18GB ISO format from partition F: NTFS 9GB free to partition D: (FAT32 12GB free space) and windows gives me that crap there is not enough space and i should do a disk clean up.
I made a disk clean up to partition D: and there was 3GB of system restore files!!! maybe coz i deleted 6GB earlier anyway i deleted the system restore files
Only NTFS partions can have files with file size more than 4GB..i hope theres nothing wrong with my windows or my hard disk..and i wanna know if theres a way to move that ISO image..thanx in advance.
I've noticed sometimes that the Free Space on my harddrives won't reflect changes I've made. For example, on my 28.6gb F: drive, I had about 586mb free. I just deleted a video file of about 700 mb, so it should be up to about 1.2 gb. Oddly enough, its still at 586mb.

Much to my dismay I cannot figure out why this would occur. We did make recovery disks and removed our partition some weeks ago. It seems our C drive is using up space without any explanation. Well now, when I go to reinstall, it will not automatically start so I clicked on my computer and dvd-rw Drive (E and there are no files, in fact it states that my my file system is CDFS and the CDA Default - Full It says all space used 672 MB and Free Space 0 Bytes

View 3 Replies View RelatedI noticed that my screen saver was never running ever after I left my computer unattended for several hours. This is not the problem, but a sympton of what I believe is the main issue. Every couple of minutes a box pops up on my task bar for about a second and then disappears. There is no text in the box so I have no idea what it is. I assume it is some application that is either trying to run or set to check for something periodically. That's why the screen saver is not running I guess. I there anyway to find out what is causing this. I've run Norton Antivirus (clean) and Microsoft Anti-Spyware and Spybot (also OK). I've look at my Task Manager and didn't see anything unusual there. I ran MSCONFIG and disabled any applications (other than system apps and ones that I was familiar with). I cleared out my "Startup" folder. I don't know what else to do to track down this rouge application.

Now to the question: This mostly happens when I use the pc for gaming and yes my rig does meet the recommended requirements and exceeds them. View 9 Replies View RelatedIn the last few days the User Accounts logon screen has been coming up after being away from the computer for a time. As I am the only person to use this computer my logon (as administrator) is the only one there and clicking on it will bring me back to the desktop.
I felt this was an unnecessary step and went into the User Accounts in the Control Panel to change this. In there I noticed a Password Protected Limited Account called 'ASP.NET Machine A...'. Is this a normal part of Windows XP or something else?
My issue is my machine displays "not enough disk space " error when i try to paste a file of 4gb though there is enough disk space of over 8gb free in my drive
View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't get it. the more i go on, the more and more disk space seems to vanish into thin air. xp usually takes a couple of gigs up on the hard disk, right? maybe 5 gigs at the very most. i've got 8 gigs taken up by videos in one folder. the programs i've got installed are negligable. the program files folder is 500mb. and yet my disk only has 20 gigs spare on a 40 gig hard disk. i've looked in every folder on the hard disk and i simply can't find any folders with anything of any great size in it. i've defragged the hard drive.

My computer is about 2 years old. In those two years, I had to re-install Windows XP and everything else on my computer...for reasons unknown...I recently performed a New Installation of Windows XP on my computer. I don't have alot of things installed on my computer. The total space all the programs in my Add and Remove programs file takes up is only 1GB. Since I had to start over and re-install everything and my programs only add up to 1GB, Shouldn't I have more free space ?
how to expand the disk space that I have. The primary C drive has the OS on it and it is only about 14GB, and my entire disk is about 50GB, the unallocated space is about 34 GB. I have tried to expand the primary partition unsuccessfully. Do I have to reload the entire OS ? I do not have the origional disk to reload the OS. It is a sony PCG-CRT160 computer with 500 mb ram and approximately a 50 GB primary drive that was partitioned when I got it.
