View 5 Replies View RelatedFolder on my external hard drive will not delete at all. it says " the filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect". i have also entered the file an tried to delete the things inside but they say " cannot delete file: cannot read from the source file or disk". It happen wen i used the file(temp folder) for emule. it is a virus i suppose but the folders say it has no bytes to them but wen i see the size of the whole folder it's 24.5 GB of space.

I can open excel itself, but just no files. old or new.When I open Word it says "The file filename is unavailable" Then when I close it, it is telling me that "The file normal already exists. do you want to replace it?" if i click yes it goes away but still wont open my file next time. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a very large, corrupt disc image on my hard drive that I want to delete, but every time I try to delete it Windows displays the message "Cannot delete 'filename': it is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again." The disc image is not mounted with any program, and hasn't been for some time. I tried aborting random processes that I thought might have something to do with the file, as well as restarting. No matter what I do, there seems to be something using the file. Are there any tricks to getting around this so I can delete it? Can I check, somehow, to see what program is using it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI noticed that my screen saver was never running ever after I left my computer unattended for several hours. This is not the problem, but a sympton of what I believe is the main issue. Every couple of minutes a box pops up on my task bar for about a second and then disappears. There is no text in the box so I have no idea what it is. I assume it is some application that is either trying to run or set to check for something periodically. That's why the screen saver is not running I guess. I there anyway to find out what is causing this. I've run Norton Antivirus (clean) and Microsoft Anti-Spyware and Spybot (also OK). I've look at my Task Manager and didn't see anything unusual there. I ran MSCONFIG and disabled any applications (other than system apps and ones that I was familiar with). I cleared out my "Startup" folder. I don't know what else to do to track down this rouge application.

Now to the question: This mostly happens when I use the pc for gaming and yes my rig does meet the recommended requirements and exceeds them. So as I'm playing on randomly my game freezes up completely!! I cant ALT+TAB nor CTRL+ALT+DEL...only thing left is for me to do is to restart the computer. Any ides WHY this is happening? How can I get rid of RUN DLL? I get this message: Error Loading C: Progra~ |MYWEB ~|ar2.bin MYSBAR ~|.DLL on my desktop at startup. I went to Internet Explorer>Tools>Manage Add-Ons and disabled the MYWEB program. Then I went to control panel>Add or Remove Programs and tried to uninstall the MYWEB Popular Screensavers program but it would not let me. It said the specified module could not be found. View 9 Replies View RelatedIn the last few days the User Accounts logon screen has been coming up after being away from the computer for a time. As I am the only person to use this computer my logon (as administrator) is the only one there and clicking on it will bring me back to the desktop.
I felt this was an unnecessary step and went into the User Accounts in the Control Panel to change this. In there I noticed a Password Protected Limited Account called 'ASP.NET Machine A...'. Is this a normal part of Windows XP or something else?

I'm using Win XP SP2 . I installed a second CD rom drive which was obviously no good because it caused the other one which is perfectly ok to show up in the bios as an unknown device. Both showed up in the bios as unknown device but the the first still showed up in system hardware the second one didn't.I removed the second one from the computer and the first one then showed up accordingly in the bios as the proper device but the bios is still saying the second one is an unknown device. Every time I start my computer I get the message secondary device missing press the F1 key to continue.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI reformatted a laptop and install XP for someone as they were having a lot of problems with it and I thought this would be the best way to go as alot of program stopped working. Anyway, after installing it, I still found that I couldn't installed the games he claimed were working before something went wrong and I determined it was the graphics card. I was even more sure when I noticed how poor the refresh rate was (scrolling up/down on web pages and playing games).
So I went to device manager to find out what the card was and install the latest drivers (he doesn't have the drivers for sound/video). But display adapters are not shown in device manager and I went through display -> settings -> advanced and it didn't tell me what card or driver was in there, all the information wasn't there. So any idea's as to how I can work out what card is in this laptop?
Just put together my new system and all is working well, but I am left with this unknown exclamation in the "device manager". I can't figure out what it is.
The only thing device manager says is,Location: on PCI standard ISA bridge The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) and in the conflicting device list it says Memory Range FED00000 - FED00FFF not available.
i installed an usb device,and all the drivers for it,it worked for two days, it was recognized.Now it will not recognize the device.I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device drivers, all the software that used the device. and even tried to install the driver by locating with 'have disk' browse. i have tried all the directories that the drivers were installed to, and then some. and also the install disk. Device manager says that its an unknown device, and theres no problem with it. but will not update to the proper drivers. How can i alleviate this problem short of reformatting my computer.
