When I log into my computer it says that I have 1 program running. It just started doing this and as far as I know, I haven't installed anything new. I ran hijackthis and this is the log:
I have some sort of program running on the background of my computer that seems to be disturbing any kind of task I try to accomplish on my cpu. It seems to be running every 30 seconds or so for a brief moment and then repeats over and over again. Whenever I try to type, this program or virus clicks off the current window, in which I have to reposition my cursor again back to where it was originally. Even as I type now, I am having to click back onto this editor every 6 or 7 words. I have checked my task manager and cannot find any processes that are running since the only happens and causes a disruption for a brief second. This is very odd and seems to make any task that much more aggravating.
my work colleagues is having trouble with a slow-running computer i thought I'd look at her startup options and make sure there isn't something running that doesn't need to be. I ran msconfig and looked at what she had going at startup, but only the necessary items were checked there. So I took a look at the services panel, using a list from blackviper.com to make sure her computer's settings matched up with those recommendation. However, one of the services listed isn't on the blackviper.com list: Winkcpw. Nor did I get any hits for the name of the service on either Google or using Yahoo search. I'm wondering if anyone here knows what the program is and whether it should be running at all.
I was just wondering if I did one of those highjack things if some one can tell me if there is some thing in my comp that shouldn't be......i have done 2 virus scans ans both come back with no viruses, but for 2 days its running so slow that my web pages time out beofre they can load.
For some reason Computer Assoc. program is running and I just cought it scanning but I don't recall downloading it. I have Norton utilities and don't need this other program. In the past zone alarm firewall asked me if I wanted to allow access and I checked yes because I was lead to believe it was part of my SBC Yahoo DSL. Now I know it's not. I disabled the program in the start up. I believe it can cause a conflict. Maybe I should uninstall it. I'm just puzzeled as to how I came to have this and why all of a sudden this program began asking for access
Using a Toshiba Satellite 1800 Laptop 1GHz Intel P3 - BIOS Ver 1.90 04/18/2002.
The past week or two it seems that the computer locks up, the Task Manager shows the CPU running at 100%. It allows some activity all be it slow & shutting down all programs (which are not locked up) does not stop the activity - including disconnecting the internet. Have run Norton scan, Spybot S&D and Adaware with nothing of significance found. Ran HiJackThis and found some startup stuff and stopped them from running but I don't know enough about the programs that are running to remove them.
Last time I booted I had to force a shutdown after waiting for 15 minutes. Next reboot took 22 minutes for the CPU to back off of 100%. I started Task Mgr very early into the boot, just before the icons started to appear and it showed 33 processes running. I watched as 14 more started up all while the CPU was steady at 100% usage. Then at 5 minutes after booting the processor dropped to 50% bounced around for a minute then went back to 100%. There was some activity through the modem (cable) but not very much. I unplugged the modem power. I shut down Skype, MSN Messenger and MS Defender and about a minute later the CPU dropped to 27%. Nothing of what I shut down appeared to alter anything.
I hope someone can see something...
Here is my latest HiJackThis log
Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 1:09:55 PM, on 8/27/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)
Upon startup on XP I get a pop up message (photo below) which halts the system until I press eith YES, NO or close the box. I've done Ad-aware, AVG, Panda, and Ewido scans on the PC but everything appears clean. The box itself contains no dialogue, simply two buttons (Yes, No), so its difficult to ascertain what the program (if any) is
A Palm device stopped syncing. When I called up the manufacturer they had me use Hyper Terminal on the PC to try to connect to a diagnostics program on the Palm. Hyper Terminal says that another program has control of COM1. How can I find out what program is accessing COM1? The OS is XP Pro.
I noticed that my screen saver was never running ever after I left my computer unattended for several hours. This is not the problem, but a sympton of what I believe is the main issue. Every couple of minutes a box pops up on my task bar for about a second and then disappears. There is no text in the box so I have no idea what it is. I assume it is some application that is either trying to run or set to check for something periodically. That's why the screen saver is not running I guess. I there anyway to find out what is causing this. I've run Norton Antivirus (clean) and Microsoft Anti-Spyware and Spybot (also OK). I've look at my Task Manager and didn't see anything unusual there. I ran MSCONFIG and disabled any applications (other than system apps and ones that I was familiar with). I cleared out my "Startup" folder. I don't know what else to do to track down this rouge application.
I just cleared off several spywares from my laptop (used SuperAntiSpyware and Smitfraudfix). Both worked without a hitch, but now I found 2 programs running in the background that are eating up my cpu speed. The first was utorrent which I uninstalled thru Add Remove Prog. The other is in the startup folder and will not let me turn it off or uninstal(documents&settings/user/applicationdata/microsoft/dtsc/22751). After reading several other posts on things to do before posting, I cleared the temp folders and ran hijackthis. The log is attached. What is this file and should I remove it, and if so how?
Some unknown application is running which causes the Taskbar and window buttons to appear with a mottled green and gray pattern. Changing Windows desktop themes and colors can reset the colors, but then when I start a new application, the screen goes black (indicating the display settings are changing), then comes back with the mottled pattern. I have used various tools to try diagnose what the culprit application is to no avail. I'm sure its some dumb thing my daughter downloaded knowingly or knowingly. I've used msconfig to stop some programs from loading that I thought would be the cause, but that didn't work.
My task manager shows two running processes that, to my knowledge, i never use: QBDAgent.exe and mrtmngr.exe. I believe that QDBAgent has something to do with quick books and i'm not quite sure what the other does. I'm pretty sure that they aren't spyware, but even in that case, i don't want to have them running if they don't need to be. I know i wasn't having problems before they appeared and i'm not really having problems now
Recently I've noticed that when I shut down and reboot my desktop computer, there is a program that is not responding to the shutdown command and I have no idea what this program is, where it came from, whether it is spyware, virus, trojan, etc. I am running Windows XP Home edition and the name of the program is this: 7801a2f0-bfbd-40f4-9a8c-06b91134573d I have tried to Google it without any success. If anyone knows what this program is or where it came from, whether or not it is needed on my computer, etc., I would be interested to hear about it.
okay i have scanned for viruses using asquared, spybot and trend micro housecall, so i dont think its viral, but that blooming autoplay box keeps poping up, wont tell me what its trying to autoplay but will pop up every five seconds making it impossible to do anything.
I am running Win XP Pro SP2. Every 15 minutes or so an unknown program opens itself and then closes. The only thing displayed on the screen is on the start bar. Right next to my currently open programs (or at the beginning if nothing is open) there appears what looks like an open program except with just the white box that is standard for windows when the program (or .exe file) doesn't have an icon. I have searched my PC with AVG antivirus and with both Windows Antispyware and Adaware SE. Nothing was found. I don't notice any other problems with the pc. It's just a very annoying thing that I would like to resolve.
I found something in my Add/Remove Programs called "My Way Search Assistant", which I removed - evidently successfully,as there is no trace of it in registry or programs. My problem is, however, the entry in Add/Remove remains but only with the name "My Way Search Assistant" and when I click on it all that shows is "Used Rarely"It has no size and no longer has any option to change or remove.I have looked for registry entries there are none is there a program listed.
I just noticed a DivX entry in the Add/Remove Programs list and in the C:Program Files folder. I have not been to the site and downloaded and installed any codecs. How would it have gotten there? The only programs that I have recently installed are Webroot Spy Sweeper 4.0.3.363. Sony Picture Package 1.5 (the software that allows me to view and copy video from my new Sony Handycam DCR-TRV480 camcorder to my computer) The Divx.dll file shows version 6.0.0.1571 and a modified date of 07-15-2005 and shows it to be associated with DivXNetworks.
i'm having a lot of lockup probs while playing call of duty multi. xp2400 gigabyte nforce, 512 corsair, maxtor 80 gig 7200 rpm.in task manager processes i'm running almost 120,000k is that normal ? is there a way to post my task manager processes readout?my hijack log is clean, running spyware blaster, avast a/v, roboform, zone alarm. and a temp monitor.case is clean and all 4 fans are working. heatsink is clean.core temp normally runs around 113 f but saw it get up to around 150 once.
I keep hearing very weird noises out of my computer. - Which I thought was adaware or something. The noises are occurring more and more frequently, and new noises seam to be appearing now!)I have run f-secure, AVG, super anti-spyware, malware bytes, and possibly more.I have done a HJL (and had it checked - found nothing), and used task manager, and process explorer to try and find what is running, and found nothing
When I switched from one user to my own account,it shows at the welcome screen that I have one program running. As far as I know I have nothing running.I checked task manager and nothing shows there.Computer does seem to be running a little slower lately.Might there be something lurking somewhere?
It's weird but my background kept asking me to to restore my desktop when i tried to replace the background with a new one,the main color of the background stayed around the lettering of all the icons. Thats when i checked for viruses and found i had one. My antivirus program is cheap so it detects it proceeds to say it removes it but doesnt.
I am running Windows XP on a Gateway GM5084 Media Center, and for over eight months, I've been having to deal with what I believe are hackers. I have reinstalled my system, both destructive and Partial, a number of times and still haven't got rid of them. Yesterday (11/19/07), after my last reload, my username and Administrator access rights were suddenly changed from the Owner/Administrator to just someone who has limited access. I don't know what my user name is because there isn't a Welcome screen.I haven't been able to find them under "Users" in the Control Panal. Unfortunately, the Control Panal itself disappeared as of last night.
Everytime I open anything from folder to 'my computer' I get this error."Your computer was infected by unknown trojan. It's dangerous for your system (critical files can be lost)!Click OK to download the antispyware program to clean your system! (Recommended)"I ran ad-aware, and mcafee. Still Nothing.
