I keep getting an error when I start up my computer. It say:( Unable to load BXXS5.dll )I have use the Hi jackthis 1.98.2 and below is the log files It came up with.Which file do I remove and which file so I keep .Can someone help me and tell me all the unsafe or unnecessary files I should remove.

My daughter thought she try to install Ubuntu 8.04.1 LTS Desktop Edition as a second OS (She received this CD in the mail) ... But after installing Ubunta she get the choices to either choice WinXP Home Edition or Ubuntu, now here is the problem. Picking WinXP Home Edition she gets the error "autochk not found - SKIPPING AUTOCHK" then a quick blue screen with a bunch of letter and numbers and then it goes back to choices of booting to WinXP Home Edition or Ununtu.

My parents have an acer laptop, it is about 3 years old, it has a centrino 1.6, 256mb ram, 40GB HD, CDRW and windows XP.
it was working perfectly, and when last used it shut down normally. However on trying to boot it up today it gets to a screen that says �load error! "Press any key to reboot"however when pressing a key it just displays the load error message again and seems stuck in a loop.
This happens only a couple of seconds into the boot sequence, the screen immediately before the error screen gives the following information:
Base Memory xxxxx
Extended memory xxxxx
Total memory xxxxxx
Auto detecting IDE device
Primary master xxxxxx
Secondary master
Insyde ACPI bios initialised
At the bottom of the screen it says � Press F2 to enter system configuration�
If I press F2 at that point I get into the BIOS.
I did not know what to do, I wondered whether Windows had been corrupted so decided to wipe the hard drive and reinstall windows using the recovery CD�s supplied with Acer.
After going into the BIOS to change to boot device to the CD drive, the clean reinstall seemed to go well, everything progressed, as normal and every thing seemed to being reinstalled. I was optimistic that all would be well.
However, on rebooting after the reinstall I got the same error message as I had done before. (I had changed the boot device to drive C)
I tried doing a full reinstall again, though of coarse it did not help, and right now I don�t have a clue how to progess in trying to solve the problem.
i am unable to load my computer into safe mode,it hangs when it is loading agp440.sys.im running Windows XP SP2.

I could boot both xp and media center but the vista boot screen always shows up and would have to go into "ealier versions of windows" and choose my OS from there. I read somewhere to get rid of the vista boot screen I should delete "bootmgr" file and "boot" folder from the root of C: I did this and now nothing works. It tries to boot into vista boot screen but it says files are missing and resets

I have a toshiba laptop running windows xp. It crashed yesterday and now whenever it boots it give me the following error A disk read error occurred Press ctl alt del to restart.I managed to get to the selection of boot in safe mode, but it still won't boot and then I get I/O error reading boot sector.At this point I just want to get the data off it. View 1 Replies View RelatedMy friend has a XP Home OS. When he fires up his computer, that sucker wont boot past the little loading bar. It just stays there indefinently. I had him boot off the 6 XP boot discs and run "FIXBOOT" to re-write the boot sector, still nothing. We booted up off the XP-CD and ran the setup so we could run the repair (R), files loaded and the computer restarted. Still nothing happened.The files that remain on his computer are so fragile that doing a fresh install of his OS would be a disaster. Any thoughts as to restoring the computer?
View 4 Replies View Related(My Computer) I: is not accessible--The request could not be performed because of an IO error.This occurred with a NEW Iomega HDD desktop 250GB USB 2.0 external hard drive. I am using Windows XP on a Sony Desk top.I was in the process of formatting the drive from FAT32 to NTFS when the formatt was about 98% complete and it advised it could not complete.I reconected it to my Lap-Top and the it completed the formatting and showed OK on MY Computer Disk management this was on my lap top. I reconnected to my desktop. new drive Orginally showed as (H). When it was reconnected It was and has been very slow in loading on MY Computer. It now shows as Drive (I) When I clicked on (I) the above error message came on after a prolonged period of time.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've tried booting up another one of my computers. it says that there is a disk error and to hit ctrl, alt, delete to restart. Did that a bunch of times and still wouldn't boot. I took the System Recovery disk from my Compaq (bad drive is in a HP, can't find the boot disk for that system) and changed the boot order and the CD won't boot. Tried safe mode, last known good configuration and tried to scan the disk and it doesn't complete and gives another error: :windowssystem32configsystem missing or corrupt
So I took the information from this link, option 4 towards the bottom Help2Go saying to take the bad drive and put it into a good PC running XP. So I got up to this point "You should now be back at the “My Computer” window. There, you should also see another hard drive listed. Open that drive. " so I double-clicked the bad drive and after a while I get, "Disk is not formatted, Do you want to format it now?" if I format it, how do I get Windows back to the HDD? Keep it in the Compaq as a secondary drive and use the Compaq System Recovery disks?
My OS is XP Pro with a 160gb western digital hard drive.I was attempting to use Partition Magic to install another OS and something went wrong and now the computer wont boot up.I have tried everything I can think of but I am unable to fix it.I am getting an error message "invalid system disk, remove the disk and click on enter". I would like to format this drive and start over. I have gone into the bios and set the CD-ROM drive to boot first but no matter what drive I make first, I get the same error message mentioned above. Any ideas on how I might be able to format this drive?

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to boot my computer reaches the windows screen then restarts, and keeps repeating this. Sometimes it throws up a bad pool caller error and a bsod. It gives me a Stop code: 0xc2 (0x43, 0xc3af4000, 0x0, 0x0) Additionally my keyboard no longer works, at least during startup which is all I can access. True for both USB and ps2 keyboard. The numlock light can be turned on but that's about it. So I know the connection is working but the boards still don't work, which means I've been unable to get to safe mode or into bios settings.

When I turn the pc on I am confronted with a black screen that has a flashing cursor in the top left corner.To get the machine to do anything else I have to restart the computer and enter the BBS Setup by pressing F11 and selecting the optical drive that contains the XP disc.A message appears telling me that Setup is inspecting my hardware configuration.Next, a blue screen appears with 'Windows Setup' in the top left hand corner.

I have been able to use my computer through the Task Manager but that's about it. In searching for answers through the past week, it has been brought to my attention that the most likeliest of problems pertaining to this would be that my Explorer.exe is not active when I restart my computer. I have ran numerous Malware programs and have removed quite alot, but this problem still persists. View 5 Replies View RelatedI am constantly connected to the internet via the university's network, run AVG 7.1 free, spybot s&d and its tea timer, and ad-aware se personal, all with updated definitions. I run an ewido online scan once a week, but don't keep it installed since it causes my computer to boot much more slowly. I also have the most current windows updates, except WMPlayer 10, and .Net 2.0 because it seems unnecessary. Well, back to the problem. I was talking to my friend on AIM, when I got the message "The connection to the service was lost" and had options to try and reconnect, etc. I tried to load IE, but it gave me some error along the lines on "Unable to load (initialize?) IE due to insufficient resources." I have a gig of ram, 3.0 GHZ P4, 120 Gig of hdd space, about 80 gig free, and run CCleaner about twice a week.
Anyway, I've been clean according to those 3 programs I use frequently, but after I got kicked off AIM and IE wouldnt load, my favorites were empty, programs wouldnt load, i couldnt shut down, etc. So I hit the reset button. When rebooted, the BIOS screen showed, and stayed for along time which it never does. Then, it kind of froze. As illogical as this seems, I just hit the switch on the back of the powersupply and waited about 2 minutes. All of my fans are clear of dust and in working operation (GPU, CPU, and PSU). I havent installed or removed any hardware / software recently, etc. So when I restarted, I rebooted into "safe mode with network support" and ran Spybot, Adaware, AVG7.1 and Ewido online scan. None reported anything outstanding, but AVG notes that read errors occured for the MBR and boot sector. Ewido found "spyware.chitika" which it removed. I rebooted and am currently in "safe mode with networking" just to be safe, but my question is: what could have caused this? and how can I fix my MBR? Thanks for any suggestions. I have a final paper that I need to finish before friday!

Thinking there may have been a windows update I went to update.microsoft.com to get updates. I was able to download all of the updates, but I could not install any of them. I tried to install them via express and custom updates on the website, via automatic updates, and virtually every other method I could think of. After researching the problem I came across similar problems with an array of solutions, including trying in safe mode, running sfc /scannow, uninstalling and reinstalling .net, shutting off and turning back on both automatic updates and cryptographic services, changing .dll files (lccwiz & pidgen), renaming the Software Distribution folder, downloading one update at a time, and other things that I can't even begin to think of at this moment, obviously with no success, as well as running SpyBot, AdAware, and Norton.

First my computer was cutting off in the middle of any program. I decided to delete everything on the drive and reformat it and reload windows xp. While trying to load windows xp it would load the set up but when going to load files it locked up everytime. I tried also loading windows 98, 95 and they too locked up. At one point it said I had a virus in my boot sector and at another time it said I had a virus in my RAM. I got a program called PC Beginner to help partition my drive and redo the MBR. I can partition the drive and format it but windows still doesn't load. Now I wonder if there is a problem with the mother board and I have a dual bios board, I was wonder if there is a program loaded in the dual bios that may somehow causing my problem. If so what can be done to clear the problem? How can I get windows reloaded?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have a dell dimension e520 with stock everything from dell (P4, 512mb ram) First i had about 70 virus's on the hd, so i removed them when the drive was installed in another machine.So then windows was damaged from the removal, and so i did a clean install (after format), and everything was peachy, (installed windows, ran windows, installed programs etc.) well until i removed the xp installation cd, then it says "boot device not found, press f1 to continue, f2 to reboot". Here is the weird part, when i put the cd back in, reboot, and don't press a key when the " press any key to boot from cd" message comes up it will boot fine. Goes right into windows, etc.In order to reinstall windows, i had to change an option in the bios from raid mode on the sata hd to ATA/autodetect option, because i was getting the bsod 0x0000007b error.The xp cd i used to reinstall was xp sp1 (one of the dell oem ones).I was able to install windows, install all drivers, install sp3 etc.Everything was fine, until i removed the cd and rebooted.I attempted to change the raid option back to original setting in the bios, and reboot- and i got the same message.The bottom line is- everything works fine when i boot with the xp install cd in the cdrom (and do not press a key when it asks to boot from cd). When i boot without the install cd, then acts like there is no os.I have to admit, i have fixed many computers in my day, and this is the first time i have come across this.Could it be something wrong with the sata controller on the motherboard?

I've tried to run system restore, but it won't let me go back a month on the calendar or change system restore settings so I can't restore any point that isn't the restore point made today, after the errors started happening. Also, every time I run an app, it says "ctf loader can't run" and comes up with the error report screen, I click don't send, it goes away and the app works fine. So I ran adaware, deleted everything it found, ran HJT
