I can't login to some (not all) https sites. I have tried Opera, Firefox and IE, nothing works.I have scanned my system over and over again, there are no viruses. I do not use a firewall, windows firewall is currently disabled.I found some recommendations about registering .dll files. I have tried that. I have deleted temp internet files and cookies. What do I do next?
About half the web sites I go to get on will not load and an error comes up saying "it cannot display the webpage" and some do not even load. Some sites are even in my favorites that I look on daily and havnt been able to in about 4-5 days. I also use AIM messenger and it will log into my sisters name but not mine, I made another screen name and it still will not sign-in for me. I have ran kaspersky(sp?) in safe mode and nothing came up. I uninstalled that and now how AVG ran that and it found 2 trojans. I deleted those and re-started and still same problems. I have ran spyware and adware programs including spybot. Just went to a proxy site and I can access the sites through that proxy site that I couldn't earlier. So I don't know what the deal is, still need a fix because that was just to check.I'm not going to that proxy site anymore.
Whenever I log on to certain websites especially my bank sites IE and firefox both will not bring up the sites after I have put in my username and password. It starts to log on to the site and then it just stop. Is there anything in my internet option settings that I need change?
I've got a very peculiar problem with my desktop computer. When I go to the Delorme website or support forums, pages are exquisitely slow to load, and the forum pages never complete loading fully. The problem doesn't seem to be with their site, since I can access these same pages just fine when using my laptop, or my daughter's computer, all plugged into the same cable-modem connection as my desktop, through a hub/switch. All 3 systems are Win XP Home/SP2, with all critical updates installed. The system having the problem is a 3 year-old Gateway 2.2 GHz Pentium 4, 1 gb RAM, with ample hard drive space available. Both SpyBot S&D and AdAware SE are run regularly, and have been run recently, along with NAV2005, and no virus, worms, spyware, etc. are found. It is running IE 6.0 It is just these Delorme sites that exhibit this problem, with all other sites loading extremely quickly on my fast cable-modem. In face, PC Pit Stop usually clocks me in excess of 4000 kbps download most of the time.
Well, recently, ive been having problems with my connection. It seems fine, works for most sites but there are 2 sites that I used to visit, but now I couldnt... my browser is firefox and what it says is it cant find the server. Ive tried to ope it with other browsers like opera and IE but still the same result.
i'm runnin XP SP2 and IE7. the problem i'm having is that ever since i moved i have been unable to view sites in Internet Explorer because I keep getting Apache Server at go.microsoft.com Port 8100. I have tried to reset the settings in Internet Options to manufacturers spec but that yielded no results. I can use internet explorer fine on the guest account, however it is indeed..a guest account. The issue isn't such a big deal since i use Firefox anyway, but it is annoying when i rip a CD to my computer and am forbidden to access CDDA for covers, song titles and such.
Is there any reason the hosts file should not block sites properly?Certain sites I have put in there aren't being blocked, and this is a problem. Also, does it only block the major site (just the www.badsite.com) and not all subdomains of that? (for example "signup.badsite.com")
I'm really clueless as to my next, step possibly a re-install of windows, i have a laptop and another PC both networked to my PC using crossover cables. 2 network cards in my computer bridged and ICS shared over the bridge. Both can access the internet with no problems using internet explorer, MSN etc. open web pages using Internet Explorer or Firefox sign into msn has once or twice since this problem started I have scanned with ad-aware and norton 2007 both up to date, found some things and fixed them but still not working.
Having major problems with my Laptop. Sometimes unable to open a window, redirected to unknown sites, inundated with pop-ups, unable to uninstall Microsoft Office 2003. Now I am unable to use my wireless connection.
when out of no where, I received those weird progams on my PC which are those fake Virus scanners and such. i then deleted it from the source, and ran my Nortan scan and my spysweeper, and they found nothing wrong with my pc. Now, the PC will NOT let me go to "important" sites. For example, Bank of America, Paypal, anti-virus sites, Ebay, etc. But will let me go to sites like Myspace or forums. I had my favs on my toolbar as tiles so its easier to access them, i had about 10 of them, and now only 5 remain after the whole thing happened, and the 5 that were removed were "important" sites. Almost every thing on my tool bar was removed, including File, Edit, View, Tools, and such. My search engine is still displayed though.
One of the kids downloaded rapid antivirus and it's screwed everything up. I've managed to get rid of therapid AV, but it looks like I've got some malware/adware of some sort running. Attempts to get to symantec, mcaffee, avg, etc give site not available results in IE 7 - includes techguy.org!!!!, but non-"fixit" sites like google and everything else in the world I can get to. Every few clicks, the url is redirected to an ad site. I've run adaware and trendmicro which found Troj_vg_fcx and removed it, but the problem persists.
I can't seem to fix this problem on my computer, it wouldn't go on online with either foxfire or internet explorer. So I did the network diagnostic and it said that the connection was repaired but it only works for a couple sites then it fails again.message comes up HTTP, HTTPS, FTP connectivity required
I recently bought and installed a new ECS 6100PM-M2 motherboard with 2 x 1Gb DDR2 667 RAM and AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ CPU bundle.I have been trying to install Windows XP home edition to my computer and it will not install. When I turn the pc on I am confronted with a black screen that has a flashing cursor in the top left corner. To get the machine to do anything else I have to restart the computer and enter the BBS Setup by pressing F11 and selecting the optical drive that contains the XP disc.A message appears telling me that Setup is inspecting my hardware configuration.Next, a blue screen appears with 'Windows Setup' in the top left hand corner.
Long story short, it's been a week since i've seen my desktop. No taskbar, no start menu, just my wallpaper. I have been able to use my computer through the Task Manager but that's about it. In searching for answers through the past week, it has been brought to my attention that the most likeliest of problems pertaining to this would be that my Explorer.exe is not active when I restart my computer. I have ran numerous Malware programs and have removed quite alot, but this problem still persists. I have searched through this forum and have seen one case to where this particular problem was solved but it needs special attention.
someone sent me a wordpad doc and when i tried to open it this is what it said, unable to load graphics conversion filter do you want to continue anyway, so i clicked yes. and only the text appeared in the doc. now i'm guessing the doc contains graphics of some sort but i am unable to load them. is there a way i can load these graphics? do i need the conversion filter? if so were do i get this from.
I am constantly connected to the internet via the university's network, run AVG 7.1 free, spybot s&d and its tea timer, and ad-aware se personal, all with updated definitions. I run an ewido online scan once a week, but don't keep it installed since it causes my computer to boot much more slowly. I also have the most current windows updates, except WMPlayer 10, and .Net 2.0 because it seems unnecessary. Well, back to the problem. I was talking to my friend on AIM, when I got the message "The connection to the service was lost" and had options to try and reconnect, etc. I tried to load IE, but it gave me some error along the lines on "Unable to load (initialize?) IE due to insufficient resources." I have a gig of ram, 3.0 GHZ P4, 120 Gig of hdd space, about 80 gig free, and run CCleaner about twice a week.
Anyway, I've been clean according to those 3 programs I use frequently, but after I got kicked off AIM and IE wouldnt load, my favorites were empty, programs wouldnt load, i couldnt shut down, etc. So I hit the reset button. When rebooted, the BIOS screen showed, and stayed for along time which it never does. Then, it kind of froze. As illogical as this seems, I just hit the switch on the back of the powersupply and waited about 2 minutes. All of my fans are clear of dust and in working operation (GPU, CPU, and PSU). I havent installed or removed any hardware / software recently, etc. So when I restarted, I rebooted into "safe mode with network support" and ran Spybot, Adaware, AVG7.1 and Ewido online scan. None reported anything outstanding, but AVG notes that read errors occured for the MBR and boot sector. Ewido found "spyware.chitika" which it removed. I rebooted and am currently in "safe mode with networking" just to be safe, but my question is: what could have caused this? and how can I fix my MBR? Thanks for any suggestions. I have a final paper that I need to finish before friday!
My daughter thought she try to install Ubuntu 8.04.1 LTS Desktop Edition as a second OS (She received this CD in the mail) ... But after installing Ubunta she get the choices to either choice WinXP Home Edition or Ubuntu, now here is the problem. Picking WinXP Home Edition she gets the error "autochk not found - SKIPPING AUTOCHK" then a quick blue screen with a bunch of letter and numbers and then it goes back to choices of booting to WinXP Home Edition or Ununtu.
The hard drive was replaced with a 20 gb and now when I try to load the factory recover program it keeps coming back with an error message- failed to find attribs.dat in any list file on cd1, proceed anyway? only when you do proceed , it does not work. This harddrive had been used with xp previously.
At first i thought it was just when I played games but it has started doing it when I am watching stuff in media player, also the last couple of days I left it downloading and its reset it’s self. I have got a couple of Minidump that say its ntoskrnl.exe but have no clue what this means. Microsoft (R) Windows Debugger Version 6.7.0005.1 Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

I need some links to some sites that will provide information and also fixes for blue screen errors in Win NT/2000/XP. I will be using them on my website, which in turn will be used at my workplace. Thanks for any help that you can offer.
To start, when I try to play an .avi file, real player and windows media player both encounter a fatal error. Thinking there may have been a windows update I went to update.microsoft.com to get updates. I was able to download all of the updates, but I could not install any of them. I tried to install them via express and custom updates on the website, via automatic updates, and virtually every other method I could think of. After researching the problem I came across similar problems with an array of solutions, including trying in safe mode, running sfc /scannow, uninstalling and reinstalling .net, shutting off and turning back on both automatic updates and cryptographic services, changing .dll files (lccwiz & pidgen), renaming the Software Distribution folder, downloading one update at a time, and other things that I can't even begin to think of at this moment, obviously with no success, as well as running SpyBot, AdAware, and Norton.
Let assume that, in a disk we have 3-partition 1. in C: drive Windows 98 (FAT32), we install it first.2. in D: drive Windows 2003 Adv Server (NTFS), this was install 2nd.3. and, E: drive is FAT32, under Windows 98(FAT32)Now, all it works fine as dual boot, we will have menu at startup, there we can select the OS. Right. Now, if we install Windows 2000 Pro in C: Drive by means of format and install option. Windows 2000 is working fine. But we cant able to load Windows 2003 Adv server, when we select that in the boot select menu.
i'm having trouble loading things online.web pages, games, videos, etc.Internet.com is the worst.most of the time i cannot even get into the site, and on the rare occasion that i do, most videos won't load.they just stay on a black loading screen for a long time, and never do anything else. web pages don't load most of the time either.i have four different browsers, i have run every scan, updated everything, including the flash player, i have disabled my firewall, pop-up blocker, and virus protection.restored computer to an earlier state, used recovery discs, cleared cookies, history, cache, temporary internet files.
First my computer was cutting off in the middle of any program. I decided to delete everything on the drive and reformat it and reload windows xp. While trying to load windows xp it would load the set up but when going to load files it locked up everytime. I tried also loading windows 98, 95 and they too locked up. At one point it said I had a virus in my boot sector and at another time it said I had a virus in my RAM. I got a program called PC Beginner to help partition my drive and redo the MBR. I can partition the drive and format it but windows still doesn't load. Now I wonder if there is a problem with the mother board and I have a dual bios board, I was wonder if there is a program loaded in the dual bios that may somehow causing my problem. If so what can be done to clear the problem? How can I get windows reloaded?
I de-infected a windows XP system with SP3 and IE7. Once I did that, http no longer loaded in IE. It does not work in portable firefox either. I can type in ftp:// ftp address and IE works. Likewise I can use https:// and the page loads! What is going on: I tried:
1) Reset ie7 as per MS 2) Removed IE 7 2a) IE6 would not load http either 3) reapplied SP3 4) Repair install win winxp cd. 5) Deleted and re-installed network card
This is where I am now. Still no http://. Since multiple applications are affected, I do not think it is a browser helper.
I shut off the computer and turning it back on couldn't boot up windows. It gave the windows wasn't shut down properly and I tried the normal restart option and it would just give a black screen with a blinking _ and then nothing happens. Tried loading in safe mode but it gets to mup.sys then "Press Esc to cancel SPTD.sys" flashes below and whether I press Esc or let it be, nothing happens after that.
I tried popping in the windows xp disc that came with the laptop, boot from disc, it starts up but then after loading everything, it then says "Windows is starting up" the disc stops spinning then nothing happens. I tried popping in a windows vista disc and it says "Windows is loading files" with a progress bar, when it fills up, I get stuck with a blank black screen the disc stops spinning and then nothing happens.
