Unable To Load 2003 Adv Sever When Select In Boot Menu
Aug 31, 2005
Let assume that, in a disk we have 3-partition 1. in C: drive Windows 98 (FAT32), we install it first.2. in D: drive Windows 2003 Adv Server (NTFS), this was install 2nd.3. and, E: drive is FAT32, under Windows 98(FAT32)Now, all it works fine as dual boot, we will have menu at startup, there we can select the OS. Right. Now, if we install Windows 2000 Pro in C: Drive by means of format and install option. Windows 2000 is working fine. But we cant able to load Windows 2003 Adv server, when we select that in the boot select menu.
I turned my computer off last night and when i went to turn it on this morning, windows wouldn't load. It went to the screen that says you can start it in safe mode or normal mode or any of the other ones. But when i choose any mode the little white bar at the bottom of the screen loads, but then it freezes. Or if i choose safe mode it floods my screen with a bunch of command lines then freezes. I need a little help here guys because i am baffled. I know this has happened to me before but i do not remember how to fix it.
how do i add 'select all' option to the rightClick menu when i right click in a folder. i know you can do 'Ctrl+A'. i want to do this using the mouse. i'd prefer if someone told me how to do this using operations performed within the system without having to install an application. i'm comfortable with the registry and am open to editing the registry
I am running Windows XP SP2 on a Toshiba laptop. Recently, I cannot select the standby icon from my shutdown menu (i.e. it appears, but is not highlighted). While this does not seem like such a serious issue, I am concerned it may be a sign of a larger problem. I have not had a crash however, so I do not know why the sudden change. I would prefer not to do a system restore, if there is another option. I also could not see any simple solution in the power management settings.
I am unable to boot my PC most of the times.Whenever I switch on my PC,I see the following message nine ot of ten times. DiskError/Boot Faliure Reboot and select proper boot device or insert Boot media in selected boot device If I press enter after this messages & keep pressing following messages appear from time to time (Not simultaneously). If just after making the switch on, I press F2 key to check the boot device preference
If just after making the switch on , I press f11 key to reach the boot menu I always find the 1.44 MB Floppy option highlighted as the booting choice.(though there had not been any floppy in the floppy drive, I dont have any really)I make the hard disk option highlighted & it solves the problem only a few times. But next time when I try F11 key to check the boot menu again I find 1.44 MB floppy highlighted.
I run XP SP2 on Athlon 2600 and 512 MB RAM and last night I shut it down as usal. When I turn my computer on this morning, it started to boot, but after few seconds, the long message appears, something like: "We are sorry for inconvenience but Windows can not start... " and it tells me to either boot into Safe mode, use last configuration, or start Windows normally. The last option is highlighted. But after that, blue screen flashes for just a moment (long enough to see there is some text but not long enough to read it), and then it goes back to start... detecting hard drive and stuff. It keeps looping like that forever. I tried to go to safe mode, but the same things happen. It goes back to start and then a "Start Windows normally" is Highlighted again.
I keep getting an error when I start up my computer. It say:( Unable to load BXXS5.dll )I have use the Hi jackthis 1.98.2 and below is the log files It came up with.Which file do I remove and which file so I keep .Can someone help me and tell me all the unsafe or unnecessary files I should remove.
Having problems with my Windows XP Pro (SP2) as when I go to "Turn off computer" (on the Start menu) and select "Switch Off" or "Restart" I lose the normal screens and it saves my settings but then gets to "Closing Windows" and then it sticks. Ctrl-Alt-Delete does nothing.
i have ONE hard drive with partitions. I had a really bad setup first, I had 1 partition with 3 windows installs on it, folders like WINDOWS, WINPRO, WINN, I never took the time to delete them or whatever, and I was using winpro as my main OS. When I was running the above setup, when I boot up it would ask me: Select what OS to load Windows Pro, Windows Home, Windows Home
I decieded to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, worked flawlessy, but I wanted to go back to windows xp pro 64 bit. So I made a new partition and installed windows XP pro 64 bit onto it. when I tried installing windows xp with my CD, the first part would work fine, but then when it restarted to continue the setup, it would load my MOBO logo and then after, it would just show a blinking underscore "_" on the top left corner, and nothing else.
I managed to install a fresh windows xp from my USB flash drive, but when booting up normally it still does not let me select what OS to log on to, it just shows the blinking underscore in the top left after the MOBO logo passes, I actually have to boot by USB drive to boot this fresh install of windows. I think something is wrong with my boot loader, but have no idea how to fix it.
I haven't installed anything new on my computer but today after having my computer shipped to me via UPS I cut on my computer and where the XP load bar screen was I got: "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device".Seeing this I knew I went into the BIOS setup and tried to turn the system priority to look at the HDD. Instead I only had the option of the DVD drive and the CD drive.I have no idea how to solve this problem and don't have any of the recovery CD's. I DO NOT WANT TO REFORMAT because like a bad little boy I did not backup my 4 years worth of work.
Running WindowsXP with SP2. Word 2003. OE6. IE6. Have HP 1210 all-in-one and Canon BJC2010. Both work fine. Problem when I wish to print a document, or e-mail text, or whatever, and click on ctrl+P, or use File menu, or whatever, I always get the printer I do not want to use. I use the HP for scanning and copying, particularly in color, and prefer the Canon for regular printing from Word or OE or IE. But somehow each time, I get the HP rather than the Canon. Now on the window for printing they always have a list of options, so this is not a crisis, just a request to lower the nuisance titre a bit. There should be a place to go to select a default printer.
I have noticed since one of my last windows update that I am having a problem clicking once a minimized window to bring it on top. I literally have to click the minimized window three times before I can get it to come on top.The first time I click it shows the minimized window depressed then highlighted, the 2nd time I click it goes through the motion of minimizing an already minimized window (you actually see it minimizing); and the 3rd time I click brings the window to the front.
My computer is now set to display all my pictures on my computer from an old mustek software. I want to change the default to another software which I have on my computer. I have tried the following to change the default program
I have a toshiba laptop computer, so not being able to enter stand is problem..whenever i press turn off computer, the stand by button appears grey unable to be selected what should i do?
Recently my father downloaded a Windows update thing that included the newest version of Windows Media Player, and since then I have had trouble getting my preferred media player to work with files. I can still open up it up and select a file, but it is impossible to add it to the "Open with" list, which is annoying. No error messages pop up or anything, but when I go to Browse in the "Open with" window and select the program, it just reverts to the (unchanged) "Open with" window.
I just changed cases for my computer and now when I start it you hear 1 beep (i have AMI BIOS) It then goes to what looks like a command and then the message Reboot or select appropriate boot device or insert boot media pops up. I have checked all my connections and tried it every which way. I have went inside and out of the BIOS and still no luck. I have also tried reinstalling Windows XP, but it says restart the computer and when I do it doesn't continue the installer. Instead it says reboot or select appropriate boot device or insert boot. I also get the error of Overclocking Error.I have a 2.79 Pentium 4 HyperThreading processor, ASUS P4S800D-X, ATI X800XL AGP, Tech-link 425w PSU, 3 sticks Kingston 512mb 333mhz PC3200 RAM, Samsung Spinpoint 120GB ATA hard drive, LG DVD-RW-DL burner, and a standard floppy.
I had this server installed by a technician as a file server. I tried to upgrade it a few times but the settings were so tight it wouldnt even allow automatic updates. There is no antivirus program on the server but all the worstations do. My problem now is that I can't log on to the server. It accepts my user and pass, prepares network connections, then I see the desktop for a second or two and then loops back to the logon screen (ctrl+alt+del). Many other owners have this same problem but I havent found anyone with a fix. I am able to access the server thru a workstation and found the server to have a virus (win32 Parite) which apparently does not damage the files. I have scanned it many times with AVG and at the end of the scan it says must reboot to heal, but since I am using a workstation to scan, it is the workstation that reboots and the virus is not healed. I have rebooted the server also by killing the battery but no luck.
When booting up (XP), I get to the screen where I select the user name and enter the password. Then I get my usual wallpaper screen but no icons, start button, task bar, tray etc etc. I can't right click on the screen.
I CAN do Crtl+Alt+Del and get a run prompt up and browse the various drives (and even run software through this, e.g. internet) but the desktop is always completely blank. I have tried Safe Mode and restore last known good etc but neither works both same result, get to wallpaper but no icons.
Hallo. Time going by, I have noticed I have installed quite some applications on my computer.I have Win XP SP2, Intel Pentium4 CPU - 2.8 GHz, 1 GB RAM (SSD), ATI Radeon X300 Series. I notice that booting is taking really long after I select my user account and I hear a lot of hard disk activity. I believe this can be because virtual RAM is activated, but, before going to buy some extra RAM (and SSD memories are not so cheap), I wondered if I could have fixed the issue through some start up software, or some better organisation of the user accounts (e.g. one account for gaming, one for video processing) so that only the requested processes would be loaded each time.
I open Windows Explorer from Start button>Right Click.Sometime, I would like to select multiple folders in the Win Explorer while holding Ctrl or Shift Key.It never worked. While selecting next folder, the first folder always becomes unselected.
I have got windows server 2003 running on 1 of my pcs and i got other computers networked. and on my computers running windows 2000 i cant do remote desktop connection to those computers. Does anyone know how to do it?
Can someone please tell me how can I launch throughout a work station a program that is installed in a server?
In other words, I need to install all mt programs in a server and only launch on my work station so I do not corrupt the server and I don't have to reinstall all programs on a new work station.
Am having a sever problem with 1 users account on XP . It appears to have only afected 1 user account. The problem seams to have occured right after an update to adobe acrobat reader (coincidence maybe). Can not install any new software (error 82 says last file run is main .exe). Can`t update avast,ewido,ad-aware, or spybot from that users account. The other users accounts seams to work fine but find nothin on any of the scans other than AVG it says that the boot record ,system volume, and 3 of the ini files have changed and Ad-aware finds 11 items but when trying to remove them it locks. Hijack this can not be run on the affected user account as it says that it is not a valid picture file. Safe mode under the affected user account (administrator privlages) is no diferent. When trying to run chkdsk from a comand promt in safe mode it says that the system volume is in use by another aplication and have to scedual a scan on the next reboot. This finds nothing aswell. Repair was also tried from the Xp cd to no avail either. All of the online scans (Symantec , Panda soft, Trend Micro....etc) will not run on this account and find nothing on the other accounts.
I have tried the following boot.ini and I get the choices during startup and when I choose XP Pro, it boots just fine. However when I choose Server 2003, nothing happens. Below is my current boot.ini configuration.
I start my windows xp and it loads fine at first and then gets into loading the desktop and then nothing happens, but just before that a RUNDLL message pops up and says: rvbc1.dll: access is denied, you can click ok or the x on the top right corner, after that the menu dissapears and nothing happens. No desktop icons or start menu loads. Actually the start menu you can kinda see flash for about 1/2 a second.I've tried many solutions, I'm in fact working with another guy from techsupportforums.com and haven't gotten anywhere with it. I've run hijackthis and combofix to no avail. I think a virus has locked out the system. I don't know what else to do or try.
I have a Dell Dimension 2400 I have Windows XP my computer is less than a year old and the other day it just started and the start menu and desktop icons wont come up any longer.I dont wanna reformat it because i have a ton of music and other files on here that i'd like to keep like pictures and whatnot is there anyway to get my computer to come back?
first i get the HP blue screen. I tried F1, but i dont see my hard drive in the boot menu. I followed some steps in Hp's web site- took the cpu apart and unplugged both hard drives from the motherboard, plugged them back in. when i restarted ,i got the HP screen and then windows started to load up. After a few seconds the HP screen came back up and then the black screen: sk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter. I also noticed that pressing F10 for system recovery does nothing.
when I edited my boot menu I left off the NoExcute=OptIn at the end of the boot menu line to load my system and was wondering if I can add this now without messing everything up ? I just found out what this option does and looks to me like a have to option. This is on XP Pro.
I have had this weird problem that seems random (i know computers arent really random but I cant figure out the cause). I have Win7 and WinXp in a dual boot working fine then after like a week of everything being fine my XP will not boot. I get to the Boot Manager and select XP and the screen just goes black and the system reboots back to the Boot Manager. I am having trouble finding the exact problem because I dont know win booting very well. I am assuming the MBR is fine because it gets to the Boot Manager fine. So I figure it is something with the WinXP partition. Win7 boots perfect. I have tried resetting up the boot with Easy BCD 2.0 beta (way better than 1.x) with no success.
This is not the first time this has happened, I end up having to either install XP fresh or do a repair install. I made a Acronis True Image backup and when everything was working then restored it with no success. I am getting really sick of this happening though because this is like the 6th time this has happened. The XP install is only used to game so it is bare minimum programs. I would appreciate any help in finding the route of the problem so that I can fix it instead of reinstalling the OS.
So when I boot my PC, I am asked to choose between booting up XP Home and XP Pro. The OS I want is XP Pro, and when I choose it, everything works perfectly. I would just like to know how to remove the XP Home option from the startup prompt.
