I have lost my Home Page. Everything I enter goes blank as soon as I click off and then go back to check it. When ever I try to launch Internet Explorer, all I get is a blank page. View 9 RepliesI'm running XP Home Edition on an HP home PC. I keep getting warning notifications that my computer has been infected with the "Blackworm Virus." I am then routed to a WinFixer purchase website (I haven't purchased or installed anything). In addition, there seems to be some other "bug" that will takeover my browser and route them to other sites. I have run AVG, Microsoft Spyware, Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware 6.0, and XoftSpy Scan - all to no avail. Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware and XoftSpy detect the cookies and allow for immunization but this action is obviously not getting to the heart of the problem. AVG hasn't even identified the items. I have also tried de-activating the restore points and rebooting in safe mode
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with my Dell Dimension 4700. I had to format my hard drive and reinstall windows XP Pro. I then went to the dell website and reinstalled all the drivers listed under my computers service tag.Now whenever the computer is restarted or if I run certain programs like Windows media player or quick time I have to delete and reinstall the sound driver through device manager. I can normally regain sound without having to restart my computer. But when I try to use a program my computer does not like then I loose sound again. This is very aggravating.

I finally stumbled upon the solution late last night. Are others having the same problems with Dell support? They were once famous for their support. Now, it's laughable.

When I open Internet Explorer, my home page (www.google.com) opens.When it is finished loading, it automatically redirets to yahoo mail login page. The catch is, all my browsers windows that are open will be changed too. If I hit "stop" before the page is loaded, then hit "refresh", this action does not occur. I have Microsoft updates automatically downloade do my computer. I have the latest MacAfee anti-virus on my computer and have run the latest scan. explorer program does not appear in the programs window. I know that if I
click on the start menu and navagate to the programs icon, a second window
wil appear showing all of the programs that are installed on my computer.
However in the programs menu, I cannot see my explorer application anywhere.
I just reformatted a friends computer, win XP Home, Dell 4500S. Did all the normal driver installations from Dell Resource CD. Installed SP2 from a disc. And proceeded to do the rest of 'various' program installs, firewall, antivirus, antispyware and then windows updates. At some point I arrived at a state where I could not close Internet Explorer. Not via the ''X'' or File/close. I could min and max the window. I could open 'other' Internet Explorer windows and close them just fine. I finally used the task manager to close Internet Explorer. I did a google search and came across a KB884768 from 2004. Quite frankly, I didn't understand the KB. I did the steps to reproduce the problem. Was that supposed to fix the problem or do I still have a problem? And if I do still have a problem how do I fix it. Do I need to uninstall IE6 via the control panel and then reinstall same? Problem occured twice within about 3 hours. Computer seems to be working fine

I was thrilled with it, so much harddrive and 512 MB Ram. After I had put a lot of my data on the computer I thought I might try another identity for other uses. So I went in to create a new identity. When I had finished with the new Identity the original Administration Identity that I had been working with for months no longer existed. After much consternation I did a system restore and got my original identity back. But what I want to know is how can I create a new identity without losing everything in the original Identity and I realize I should have gone on through Administrator to create the first identity.
