Have Desktop Hijacker - Desktop Hijacker I Need To Delete
Jun 3, 2005
I have a desktop hijacker I need to delete. It will not allow me to change the wallpaper or the mode of wallpaper presentation tiled, stretched, etc I have run hijack
I need help removing a spyware/virus called psguard, I tried to remove it with a virus, ad-aware, spyware scanner, they find it but cannot delete fully. It is at the point where it takes up the upper left side of my desktop, where as it used to take up the whole. Very annoying, and i notice a huge preformance drop with this
The high level instructions and still have the problem. I've got a hijacker (I think) problem. When I try to start my machine, as it's loading the icons in the system tray, I repeatedly get "explorer.exe has caused errors and will be shut down" and it generates an error log. Then all desktop icons disappear, and it starts over. Only way I can get it booted is in safe mode. I've run the current versions of spybot s&d and adaware 6. After I ran these applications and cleaned my system, I still have the problem. Reboot in safe mode and run Adaware and spybot again and they find registry entry problems again.
I am using aol right now because IE6 won't let me go anywhere. I tried going to a couple of sites and both times it took me to the Yahoo home page, weird that AOL works considering they are on the same platform..or is it? anyway may I please post my HJT and would someone take a peek and tell me if you see anything I am not seing anything, I did the unthikable I d/l from an untrusted site for fonts
ive had my browser hijacked, and would love any help i can get. i do have HJT, and attempted to get help on their forums, but, the browser hijacker will not let me into the forums on that site
After following the cancellation procedure for MovieLand it continues to annoy me. I have looked for an e-mail and phone number as well to no avail. I have read two "fix it" procedures you have posted....can I follow those or do you think I will need a unique specific routine.
I RAN McAFEE VIRUSCAN, AND HAVE THE PERSONAL FIREWALL, AND STILL FOUND 12-13 PROGRAMS THAT COULD NOT BE DELETED, CLEANED OR QUARANTINED; WHAT THEN IS THE PURPOSE OF MCAFEE
I have lost my Home Page. Everything I enter goes blank as soon as I click off and then go back to check it. When ever I try to launch Internet Explorer, all I get is a blank page. My ISP tech said it was proably a Browser Hijacker. Dell 4700; Windows XP Home, service pack 2; Outlook Express Pentium 4
Every time I start up my computer the settings in my ADSL connection is altered to nr; 004366098974893 Other settings in my dial up is also altered. I have run Spybot and Lavasoft Ad-Aware free spyware but they don't solve the problem. I also got icons called Lip Game, PORN DVD and Dating which I removed.
I'm running XP Home Edition on an HP home PC. I keep getting warning notifications that my computer has been infected with the "Blackworm Virus." I am then routed to a WinFixer purchase website (I haven't purchased or installed anything). In addition, there seems to be some other "bug" that will takeover my browser and route them to other sites. I have run AVG, Microsoft Spyware, Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware 6.0, and XoftSpy Scan - all to no avail. Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware and XoftSpy detect the cookies and allow for immunization but this action is obviously not getting to the heart of the problem. AVG hasn't even identified the items. I have also tried de-activating the restore points and rebooting in safe mode
what ocat yellow pages is? this programs seems to take over my friends computer here at home. Can anyone Please tell me what this is and how he can get rid of it ASAP?
I have a file on my Desktop which I can't delete. It was a file downloaded from a popular video site using a download program. This program delivers the files that initially have no extensions. You then choose what format (ie. wmv, avi, etc) that you want your video file in. The program then creates a converted file with the extension you have selected. So you finally end up with two files. The orignal file with no extension, and the file that you have converted. Lastly you delete the original downloaded file that has no extension. This has worked fine countless times. But some sort of glitch occured with one of these files a while back. I was able to create the converted file without a problem, but I can't delete the original extensionless file. Whenever I try to delete it, I get a message that the file can't be read. So I seem to have a permanent unwanted file on my Desktop. Can somebody please tell my how I can get rid of it.
im having problems deleting files off my desk top i go to delete them and i get message come up saying can not delete it is being used by anougher person or program but i cant find it how to get around this
theres a folder on my desktop "New Folder" with a file inside that says "NEW HIP HOP" it is a 0kb file but everytime i go to delete it it says "Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disk" its not a big problem, i keep it as hidden but id rather delete it. is there anyway to delete it? note* ive tried safe mode and nothing is using the file.
I have about 8 folders on my destop that are empty. I can delete them but when I reboot the pc they are back on the desktop. I have even tried to delete them with bc wipe. I do have rollback installed it's similar to goback only better. This problem started before installing rollback. No other files do I have trouble deleting. I do have system restore turned on probably do not need to now that rollback is installed.I deleted folders and they are in trash. I emptied the trash no folders inside. Not deleted in safe mode. I restarted and they reappear on the desktop. Rollback was not activated during the restart.I checked the folder permissons and all boxes are checked but they are grayed out.The folder is set as read only and I try to change it and hit apply but they cannot be deleted.
I had a folder with all the Battlefield 2 (video game) installation files in it (Files on the installation CD(s.) I copied the files over from the cd to my computer to install the game because my cd-rom drive gets a little funky when i try to install things from it. So I put all the files in a folder on my desktop titled "BF2" The game was freezing up when i tried to loap a map so i decided to delete it. I uninstalled the game, deleted all the existing registry entries for the game and deleted the files in the BF2 folder (BF2 CD) but one file did not delete. The file is called "setup.ibt" I don't know why it won't delete it says "This file is being used by another person or program."
I don't know why this is happening but it's driving me crazy trying to solve it. Every time I try and delete an Icon from the desktop I get an access denied response. I am logged on as administrator. Any Ideas.I think this all started when I put a password on my account and then later got rid of the password.
noticed an icon on my desktop representing the email I had read (and deleted). Now I can't delete the icon. It is grayed out and I get the message "Cannot delete file: cannot read from source disk or file"-no kidding. How do I get rid of this thing?
there are 2 icons appeared in my desktop when I tried to delete them, they will be deleted but then appeared back again in my desktop. When I'm using the internet the content of that icon will just be automatically opened in different tab without clicking it and just pops multiple times after being closed. How can I remove these 2 icons. The name of the 2 icons are the same in Tagalog, it says 10 sampung utos ng manginginom and then when it opens up on the very top where the blue thing is, it says Destrukto & in the address or information bar it says C:\WINDOWSsystem32destrukto.html.
Is there a way to delete things that have been placed on the Active Desktop. I got a zip icon on my desktop that I cannot delete or right click on, but I can drag it though but it goes underneath the recycle bin. How can I delete it?
I have an incomplete install file on my desktop. It is an AVI preview program to view non-completed AVI files. Well, it never finished DLing so the file just sits there. I can't move it or delete it because it says it is in use by other programs, and when I double-click it, it says it is not a valid win32 application. It won't even delete in safe-mode. Any ideas?
I have to exe files on my desktop and I am not sure how they got there or what they are. They are hurl.exe and hurl(2).exe. I am unable to delete them. What are these?
I've deleted an icon for a folder on my Windows XP Professional desktop at least 10 times, probably more over the last year. It re-appears at random and is empty. I tried deleting it from Command, but it said the folder didn't exist, however "dir" said it did. I'm really lost here as to how to make this icon go away.
