I am using aol right now because IE6 won't let me go anywhere. I'm running XP Home Edition on an HP home PC. I keep getting warning notifications that my computer has been infected with the "Blackworm Virus." I am then routed to a WinFixer purchase website (I haven't purchased or installed anything). In addition, there seems to be some other "bug" that will takeover my browser and route them to other sites. I have run AVG, Microsoft Spyware, Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware 6.0, and XoftSpy Scan - all to no avail. Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware and XoftSpy detect the cookies and allow for immunization but this action is obviously not getting to the heart of the problem. AVG hasn't even identified the items. I have also tried de-activating the restore points and rebooting in safe mode

View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't know how or where but symptoms are as follows. I cannot connect to the internet very well. It seems as though any websites i try to surf onto that could pose helpful do not load. When I try to boot from the Cd upon start up my keyboard will not respond. Nor can I enter safe mode because of the disabled keyboard. I cannot update my anti virus and ad removal programs I cannot roll back the system what so ever. I basically can't do much of anything without it being shut down.

Firefox, I have tried setting it as my default browser in the settings option, and in "Set programs access and defaults". It works quite well... View 5 Replies View RelatedThe high level instructions and still have the problem. I've got a hijacker (I think) problem. When I try to start my machine, as it's loading the icons in the system tray, I repeatedly get "explorer.exe has caused errors and will be shut down" and it generates an error log. Then all desktop icons disappear, and it starts over. Only way I can get it booted is in safe mode. I've run the current versions of spybot s&d and adaware 6. After I ran these applications and cleaned my system, I still have the problem. Reboot in safe mode and run Adaware and spybot again and they find registry entry problems again.

I was using Comcasts free McaVee and then got a notice that my free subscription has expired. Comcast now provided Norton for free, so I went there and downloaded that virus software. Why would there be a second IP address? What does this mean? What do I do about it? I am running XP home, Zone Alarm in stealth mode and my router is a linksys. Not sure what other information I would need to provide. I click on the message in hopes that it would provide more info, but it just dissappeared. When I open Internet Explorer, my home page (www.google.com) opens.When it is finished loading, it automatically redirets to yahoo mail login page. The catch is, all my browsers windows that are open will be changed too. If I hit "stop" before the page is loaded, then hit "refresh", this action does not occur. I followed all the instructions and got the notebook on the internet. Then when it came to setting up security, all went bad. The notebook wouldn't "take" the phrase I picked out. OK so I unplug everything and decide to send the router back. I go back on the desktop where there were 3 users (2 limited and me admin. It won't let me log in as admin. I tried on all 3 names anyway to no avail. Everytime I clicked on ANYTHING it said "error file cannot be found invalid path" something like that. System restore I couldn't even bother with because like I said, clicking on anything just gave me error messages.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled my OS and all my software, shortly thereafter I noticed I had an issue where any sound that was coming through my headphones was being retransmitted through the mic, with further testing I found that this was not actually the case but rather any sound that would be output is being retransmitted as audio in, even if I had no speakers, headphones or mics connected. I have looked at and experimented with everything I could in every sound settings.
I have tried updated drivers, the only way for me to stop the issue from occurring is to mute the mic in the recording control, but that stops me from using the mic altogether. I need to be able to use my mic without recording anything that I am hearing as well.
After reading an article in "Wired" last night, I installed the Google Toolbar on my Windows 2000 XP HE. I ran Ad-AwareSE and SpyBot. Browsing seemed to go quicker and smoother. This morning, however, I got a MS Windows message concerning "possible" trouble with my browser. It recommended examining my add-ons in IE. I don't have sufficient knowledge to recognize what I should and shouldn't have or, more appropriately, what may be harmful here. I know that those "RealPlayer" programs are invasive so when I saw that listed, I disabled it.
View 23 Replies View RelatedI recently reformatted and installed Windows XP Home fresh on both my desktop and laptop. All worked fine even after getting updated until the last update on each. On the desktop it included Service pack 2 update but not on the laptop, it was a new update but still has only service pack 1. On each computer the browsers both IE6 and foxfire started running very slow. IT would take many seconds to get new pages open. On the laptop I restored and IE6 works fine but I am still having a problem with Foxfire and it also received a Foxfire update. Any idea how to fix this problem without restoring and losing the needed update? I have run XP on both systems for a good while and never had this problem.
