I am half way computer literate, but this one has me. I am hoping someone can tell me where to look. When I open Internet Explorer, my home page (www.google.com) opens. When it is finished loading, it automatically redirets to yahoo mail login page. The catch is, all my browsers windows that are open will be changed too. If I hit "stop" before the page is loaded, then hit "refresh", this action does not occur. I have Microsoft updates automatically downloade do my computer. I have the latest MacAfee anti-virus on my computer and have run the latest scan. I have run Microsoft beta spy-ware, ad aware and yahoo's version. I am not seeing anything.
The "freeze" seems to happen when the IE7.0 browser is open (though, I do not necessarily think it is definately a browser problem). Anyway, drwtsn32.exe always activates when this problem occurs, and wants to send a report. I have reviewed the contents of the report on several occasions and it basically shows the error in the same location every time with the identical error (I think). The error is always occurring here: C:Documents and SettingsDaddyLocal settingsTemp The only way I can unfreeze my computer when it locks up is by going to my task manager and ending task on one of TWO drwtsn32.exe's.
I can't get a new IE6 browser window to open up by clicking the "e" on my lower taskbar. When I sign onto the internet via NetZero, their start page opens up sometimes, but usually it doesn't. If it does open, it takes a long time to load and I really can't do anything on that page anyway. I've been having this problem for about 2 weeks now, so over this time I've tried doing restore operation, using several different dates, but nothing has helped. I thought about reinstalling IE6, but that looks to be a problem since IE7 beta is the latest thing, plus I don't know if I might mess up something within XP anyway.
Is there any way to have a default Browser? I want every program that has links to open up in say. Firefox, I have tried setting it as my default browser in the settings option, and in "Set programs access and defaults". It works quite well... But can I get MSN Messenger to open up in that browser? When I click on my e-mails or MSN Space Etc. It opens up in Internet Explorer. Is there ANY way to open it in my default browser?
Whether opening the browser or Windows explorer or a software programs - this thing is like pulling teeth. It wasn't that bad the other day and it seems like overnight it got unbearable. I did a disk cleanup
I use cable modem and for some reason if I haven't used my computer for a hour or so Windows XP will shut down my email and browser. This just started to occur within the last week or so
I have lost my Home Page. Everything I enter goes blank as soon as I click off and then go back to check it. When ever I try to launch Internet Explorer, all I get is a blank page. My ISP tech said it was proably a Browser Hijacker. Dell 4700; Windows XP Home, service pack 2; Outlook Express Pentium 4
I might have erased something on regedit that is preventing me from startying any app right now. The only way to get to my web browser is through the "run" option. When ever I attempt to load something, "mozilla, explorer or any other app" I get an error message: This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel.
After reading an article in "Wired" last night, I installed the Google Toolbar on my Windows 2000 XP HE. I ran Ad-AwareSE and SpyBot. Browsing seemed to go quicker and smoother. This morning, however, I got a MS Windows message concerning "possible" trouble with my browser. It recommended examining my add-ons in IE. I don't have sufficient knowledge to recognize what I should and shouldn't have or, more appropriately, what may be harmful here. I know that those "RealPlayer" programs are invasive so when I saw that listed, I disabled it.
I recently reformatted and installed Windows XP Home fresh on both my desktop and laptop. All worked fine even after getting updated until the last update on each. On the desktop it included Service pack 2 update but not on the laptop, it was a new update but still has only service pack 1. On each computer the browsers both IE6 and foxfire started running very slow. IT would take many seconds to get new pages open. On the laptop I restored and IE6 works fine but I am still having a problem with Foxfire and it also received a Foxfire update. Any idea how to fix this problem without restoring and losing the needed update? I have run XP on both systems for a good while and never had this problem.
i share a computer with some folks and some of them are quite crafty with the old computer. they keep hiding the internet explorer browser, i cannot find it in programs at all! so i can only get online using mozilla firefox. where on earth can they be hiding it?
I cant get to Microsoft.com in any browser because of that i cant update windows i only have SP2 and i need SP3 im using windows xp please help me everything says go to a cached version of it and i cant get any downloads.
i will open a window or two of internet explorer, i will click somewhere on the page and the entire window shuts down. it happened many times earlier, went away, now its back.
I have reformatted by hardrive and blah however, in firefox and IE whenever I attempt to scroll down it goes all 'blocky' like a beast. Before I could just scroll nice and smoothly. Now its like an earthquake each time I do.
i use both mozilla firefox and internet explorer when i have to and when i log into anything form hotmail to ebay on either of these and then click on any icon requiring you to be logged in i am returned to a page telling me to sign in, could this be a virus or even spyware? i have done scans; (ad-aware, AVG, Spybot, Windows Defender, Registry Mechanic, CCleaner, Zone labs antispyware and trend micro pc-cillin interent security) could it be that maybe on of these has removed a file that allows me to log in?
I continue to have problems with my browser being unable to update pages and with displaying outdated pages (i have previously posted this problem but it still exists). I have attempted everything i can think of deleting the cookies, cache, and adjusting settings to "check for new versions of pages automatically" but still the problem exists.
for some reason every time I start up my computer I get a Bad Image message saying that the file mshtml.dll is not a valid image. Because of this I can't use the internet! I take it out of the folder and put it back in and my internet starts to work. Now when I go to Internet Explorer I go to the browser and when I type in a site it just crashes and says IE has encountered a problem it has to shutdown. Luckly I have AOL also! but when I try to download with either browsers, it just shows a bar in the left corner loading as it does when you go to any other site and then it just stops and goes away.
I upgraded the Grisoft AVG 7.5 Anti Virus program. Some sites I cannot log on to at all. Some sites , like this one, I can log on but it won't remember me & I have to log in again. I am constantly getting the Security Alert banner on the screen. The one about the certificates. I tried going to the Elder Geek for IE repair but it said I need the Service pak CD and I don't have that.
All updates applied,IE 7 uninstalled,Norton2008 security 15 day trial for antivirus.Java updated. my browser gets stuck, won't shut down sometimes and just seems to hang and bog more often than not.As far as I know i am not running unnescasry programs in background.Pop up blocker is medium, security is default.
I am using aol right now because IE6 won't let me go anywhere. I tried going to a couple of sites and both times it took me to the Yahoo home page, weird that AOL works considering they are on the same platform..or is it? anyway may I please post my HJT and would someone take a peek and tell me if you see anything I am not seing anything, I did the unthikable I d/l from an untrusted site for fonts
ive had my browser hijacked, and would love any help i can get. i do have HJT, and attempted to get help on their forums, but, the browser hijacker will not let me into the forums on that site
when I clicked on a link from Windows Live Messenger, not firefox came up, but IE6. I was a bit surprised, and checked the settings, but Firefox was still the default browser. Since then, every links from an other application (WLM, Google Talk, ...) open in IE. I want every links to be opened in firefox.
I just switched from Internet Explorer 6 to Firefox, which solved many headaches on my computer! I have now is how do I switch to Firefox as by default browser?
I've had XP 64 installed for a about 10 days now and everything is working fine. I didn't have any issues with drivers or applications. The default install and updates seem to use two versions of IE (64 and 32). I've swapped all my icons to choose the 32 bit version since there is no flash support for 64 bit browsers at this time. My problem is that I get a lot of links inside emails and when I click on those it always uses the 64 bit version. I've tried to change the default browser option through control panel but it only offers the option of IE and won't let me select which IE. I also have IE 32 set to check to make sure it's the default browser. I've done some Google searches but I must not be asking the right question because I can's find much on IE 64.
this must be asked 1000 times. i downloaded another browser, and did not make it the default browser. i set ie to = ask each time if it is default browser. i dont want it to be default browser, i want no default browser. but everytime i go to isp, ie is used. i cant find anywhere in the help = how to make ie not default. how do i do this? if i go to my isp would it then ask which browser i want to use?
"The browser you're using is not allowing you to sign in to Excite." This is the message I'm getting when I try to sign into my Excite home page. I did a disc cleanup before this happened.Been into tools internet options and checked the settings.
sometimes if i stop using a browser window for about 10mins, the browser seems to stop seeing the internet (until i reboot). this happens with both internet explorer and firefox. it brings up 'cannot find server' etc, as if i had no active connection. although all my other programs are using the internet fine, MSN messenger, limewire, download managers etc i recently reinstalled, im running windows xp pro with SP2 and all the latest updates. and have internet explorer 6, and mozilla firefox 1.5. i have an ADSL connection thru a wireless router.
today when i came on the computer i clicked on my internet browser and it took like 1 minute for it to load up, it usually took about 5 seconds. im positive i have no viruses.
When I scroll through pages, it seems to take half a second for it to move up or down. It's only my browsers that do this (IE and Firefox both do it). I can scroll through stuff fine on Windows Explorer, though, so it's not the PC.
I am using windows XP, I am using Internet Explorer since last week I am not able to access any web page. I goto any webpage sometime half of the page appears and then it stays there and sometime nothing comes up and its like its trying to bring the page down but nothing happens. Yesterday I have installed the Firefox, I have same issues.
