when I clicked on a link from Windows Live Messenger, not firefox came up, but IE6. I was a bit surprised, and checked the settings, but Firefox was still the default browser. Since then, every links from an other application (WLM, Google Talk, ...) open in IE. I want every links to be opened in firefox.

When I click on the file nothing used to happen.Suddenly now it opens with IE.When I right click and click open with FireFox nothing happens.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to change it to Firefox or any other browser, I try it 2 ways, one, by going to Start> set Program access anf defaults, and the other way by clicking the browser I want and when it says "Firefox is not your default, would you like to makeit so" I click yes andit seems to act like it is changing my browser, but then when I try to go to a site it keeps opening it with Avant. I never had this problem when I used only IE and wanted to change my default to Firefox. It always worked then but since I loaded Avant and started using it I can't get back to my other browsers. I also tried using Tools> Internet options> programs> and clicking on "make IE default browser and that did change it to IE but I couldn't get back to FF as default browser.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was and still am having trouble with Windows Exployer. I can open it, but after opening a couple of pages it logs itself off. This is still happening. I tried using Firefox instead (now have both loaded) and have it listed as the Default, but I get an Unable To Connect error everytime now. Links try to open in Firefox and will not open.
1) Why is Exployer logging off?
2) Why can't I connect with Firefox?

I would like to change Mozilla Firefox to be the default browser in Win XP Pro. Currently the default is Internet Explorer. Now I know that Mozilla has a function to do this automatically, however I would like to be able to change it back again later if I want to.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had XP 64 installed for a about 10 days now and everything is working fine. I didn't have any issues with drivers or applications. The default install and updates seem to use two versions of IE (64 and 32). I've swapped all my icons to choose the 32 bit version since there is no flash support for 64 bit browsers at this time. My problem is that I get a lot of links inside emails and when I click on those it always uses the 64 bit version. I've tried to change the default browser option through control panel but it only offers the option of IE and won't let me select which IE. I also have IE 32 set to check to make sure it's the default browser. I've done some Google searches but I must not be asking the right question because I can's find much on IE 64.

When I open Internet Explorer, my home page (www.google.com) opens.When it is finished loading, it automatically redirets to yahoo mail login page. The catch is, all my browsers windows that are open will be changed too. If I hit "stop" before the page is loaded, then hit "refresh", this action does not occur. First 2 for the intended ini, the second the old improper, though still currently functional, boot.ini.old. Both of these are on separate partions on the first internal hard drive, and I have tried turning off my 1 external during boot-up as well as disabling my 2nd internal on the "boot settings", with the same results.The default should be the "Graphics" system, according to the Boot.ini

Another oddity is that FTP connections in IE 6 seem to work fine.Through another forum, I found out that if I open a webpage through My Computer, it also connects just fine.

I can't get firefox to open.The hourglass appears and then disappears and nothing happens.Internet explorer works great. everyone is saying to make a new profile and go to run, firefox.exe P and that doesn't work because that window won't come up either. and i tried opening it in safe mode. still, no luck. Everything basically comes to a grinding halt.Sometimes it will even delay in my typing,I have uninstalled, then installed Firefox with no luck. Browsing seemed to go quicker and smoother. This morning, however, I got a MS Windows message concerning "possible" trouble with my browser. It recommended examining my add-ons in IE. I don't have sufficient knowledge to recognize what I should and shouldn't have or, more appropriately, what may be harmful here.
