I have set my default browser as FireFox. So the html files show the Firefox symbol. They should automatically open in Firefox.But this does not happen. When I click on the file nothing used to happen.Suddenly now it opens with IE.When I right click and click open with FireFox nothing happens.

Since then, every links from an other application (WLM, Google Talk, ...) open in IE. I want every links to be opened in firefox.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to change it to Firefox or any other browser, I try it 2 ways, one, by going to Start> set Program access anf defaults, and the other way by clicking the browser I want and when it says "Firefox is not your default, would you like to makeit so" I click yes andit seems to act like it is changing my browser, but then when I try to go to a site it keeps opening it with Avant. I never had this problem when I used only IE and wanted to change my default to Firefox. It always worked then but since I loaded Avant and started using it I can't get back to my other browsers. I also tried using Tools> Internet options> programs> and clicking on "make IE default browser and that did change it to IE but I couldn't get back to FF as default browser.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was and still am having trouble with Windows Exployer. I can open it, but after opening a couple of pages it logs itself off. This is still happening. I tried using Firefox instead (now have both loaded) and have it listed as the Default, but I get an Unable To Connect error everytime now. Links try to open in Firefox and will not open.
1) Why is Exployer logging off?
2) Why can't I connect with Firefox?
3) Which do feel is better?
4) How do I set up default browser? ( I can't remember how I did it)
I would like to change Mozilla Firefox to be the default browser in Win XP Pro. Currently the default is Internet Explorer. Now I know that Mozilla has a function to do this automatically, however I would like to be able to change it back again later if I want to.

Ive downloaded mozilla firefox easily enough but I cant see how to make it default in place of IE. Ive also tried to delete the Mozilla Firefox download in order to try again, but will not let me delete as I dont have sufficient admin acess, which surprises me as its always been my computer.

My computer is free of viruses or spyware (Ad-aware, spybot, spyware doctor) but very few webpages such as this one, google and all associated pages, novell groupwise, baltimoreravens.com etc. I m connected through a 40-bit enabled security key to our wireless network at home and my roomate doesn't have trouble using his browsers.I can't connect to any MSN webpages, yahoo altavista and many many others.Having just rebooted much of what was left in the hard disk I doubt this is some software conflict.Most webpages just hang and return "The document contains no data". Finally, there "local area connection network cable unplugged" notification on my systray. But since I can post this I can connect online alright. What is going on, why are Firefox and IE very selctive with the pages they open ?

It boots up ok but programs open vary slow (word xl) internet explorer8 is even slower i have tried mozilla firefox and its no better it takes me 2 to 5 minutes to get online. Shut down is pretty slow and I'll usually get a message that something is not responding latley when I boot up I get a box pop up for lela 3.1 saying it will fix my network i know its som kind of spyware i x out but how can i get rid of it? have run scan reg it finds problems fixes them but thay come back.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy ethernet input has recently been broken thanks to my Mrs, so I got an ethernet adapter which connects into the USB.Now I cant remember if I started to experience problems before or after the install...However I have experienced no end of problems recently... I cant download a file and then open it in any of the Office apps, as soon as I do, it tells me 'Notepad/Word' etc has encountered a problem and needs to close. On top of this, I cant run Firefox and if I try to click on links in my email within IE, the same thing happens.I have AVG and Malwarebytes and have ran them both and they havent picked up on anything.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a pen4 computer with 1 GB of memory and lots of free space on the hard drive. when I click or try to open explorer or Firefox, it just sets there for sometimes 4 or 5 minutes and then it opens. I have a cable modem with other computer on it and none of them have problems.
When I click on the Icon, the hour glass comes up for a few seconds and then goes away, there does not seem to be any activity on the HD and then it all opens and works fine until it is closed again...
I'm really clueless as to my next, step possibly a re-install of windows, i have a laptop and another PC both networked to my PC using crossover cables. 2 network cards in my computer bridged and ICS shared over the bridge. Both can access the internet with no problems using internet explorer, MSN etc. open web pages using Internet Explorer or Firefox sign into msn has once or twice since this problem started I have scanned with ad-aware and norton 2007 both up to date, found some things and fixed them but still not working.

Another oddity is that FTP connections in IE 6 seem to work fine.Through another forum, I found out that if I open a webpage through My Computer, it also connects just fine.

Everything basically comes to a grinding halt.Sometimes it will even delay in my typing,I have uninstalled, then installed Firefox with no luck. The machine is plenty capable (2 GHz Pentium 4, 512 MB RAM-see CPU Specs Icon for more),without much running in the background, so why would it be like that?

Hello I have a problem with my computer. A couple months ago I fried my motherborad and took it to COMpusa to be replaced and when I got it back only Internet Explorer, Trillian and AIM work. None of my multiplayer games will connect nor will Firefox or mozilla. I am running with an 1.6g AMG, ATI Radeon x800 pro graphics card, 2 hard drives... one sata and one IDE. no idea what the mobo is is and I also have a gig of ram.
