View 2 Replies View RelatedI dont know if this is the right place to put this question, but anyway: I have a brand new Dell Latitude. I think that Windows XP servicepack 2 is making some problem. The bigger problem is that I cant uninstall it. I have tried through Control Panel, and the tips Microsoft gives themselves. I guess a problem is that it is preinstalled on the computer. I have reinstalled the computer, but it is still ServicePack 2.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf this has been addressed in the forums; then apologies all around. I have a Dell Latitude L400. The HDD has been low level formatted and is clean, I also know it to be fully operational, It won't boot from the USB port, so there is no hope of loading XP back onto it through a usb dvd drive. I have read that there is a docking port adapter for this thing, but the cost of finding one; well, you do the math. I have tried repeatedly to 'preload' DOS or even XP to no avail. Call it Karma or stupidity, but I simply can not find a definitive answer as to how to get anything onto the laptop drive stable enough to get Xp to load normally. Forget the preloading from another computer because all it does is 'windows' logo and then blue screen, so that's out. and no amount of bios jocky-ing is going to do it either. And just to be redundant, this isn't a netbook or current technology that recognizes booting from the usb port, so we can skip that too.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe instruction at "0x5ba06ela" referenced memory at "0x5ba06ela". The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of "0xc000009c".The laptop is slower than normal. Everything else seems to work apart from the internet and msn messenger, which will load up to begin with, but is slow, but then when something is typed into google or i put my information into msn messenger to log on it freezes and says they are not responding to send error report.

View 14 Replies View Relateda friend has a Dell Dimension 4550 (P4-2Ghz, 60Gb HDD, 784mb RAM- added 512mb and a NEC DVD+/-R, circa 2002 I think?) and needs to do a clean install. He has the CD that came with it. We looked all over google and the Dell site and can't seem to find out how to do a clean install. We pressed F12 and tried to boot from the CD-ROM and thought it was going to work, but it said that we were trying to install XP on a partition that already had XP on it. I saw no option for full/clean restore.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter powering down during a system restore, my Dell Inspiron 1100 Laptop is caught in the loop that results in the above Blue Screen error. None of the modes work, last known, safe etc.I have read a lot of the posts about restoring that system and am not so concerned about getting the laptop up and running but just recovering the data from that drive - pictures from the laptop. Is this strategy below an option? 1. Purchasing a USD Hard Drive Enclosure. 2. Removing the hard drive from the laptop 3. Connecting the laptop d it to the Enclosure 4. Plugging it into our pc to copy the files. Since the drive will not boot via the laptop, am I right in saying that the drive should be readable as any other drive if connected in the manner above.
