View 1 RepliesI reformatted the hard drive and tried to install XP home Edition for my Latitude D600, but keep getting different error messages, I thought it was a faulty operating system disk, but I've tried three different disks. This is not the first time I've reformatted desktops and laptops.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently trying to hook up my dell latitude cpx to my tv to use it as my monitor. It has an S-Video out port, and my tv has RCA ports only, so i purchased a cable which is s-video to an rca connector for my video in. Well when I boot up my laptop, when i get to the welcome screen in xp, it starts to display on my tv, but then about 5 to 10 seconds after that it flickers and the picture goes away.Ive tried everything in the display settings and also enabled everything in my BOIS, with no luck.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI dont know if this is the right place to put this question, but anyway: I have a brand new Dell Latitude. I think that Windows XP servicepack 2 is making some problem. The bigger problem is that I cant uninstall it. I have tried through Control Panel, and the tips Microsoft gives themselves. I guess a problem is that it is preinstalled on the computer. I have reinstalled the computer, but it is still ServicePack 2.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf this has been addressed in the forums; then apologies all around. I have a Dell Latitude L400. The HDD has been low level formatted and is clean, I also know it to be fully operational, It won't boot from the USB port, so there is no hope of loading XP back onto it through a usb dvd drive. I have read that there is a docking port adapter for this thing, but the cost of finding one; well, you do the math. I have tried repeatedly to 'preload' DOS or even XP to no avail. Call it Karma or stupidity, but I simply can not find a definitive answer as to how to get anything onto the laptop drive stable enough to get Xp to load normally. Forget the preloading from another computer because all it does is 'windows' logo and then blue screen, so that's out. and no amount of bios jocky-ing is going to do it either. And just to be redundant, this isn't a netbook or current technology that recognizes booting from the usb port, so we can skip that too.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI currently own an older dell latitude cpx laptop, its fairly outdated, i know but im currently running it off of my wireless router, i have a d-link wireless-g adapter in my pcmcia slot, but when i boot my laptop with it, i get blue screen errors, but if unplug it and boot it up then plug in my adapter, it works perfect, i know its not a big deal to just plug it n after i boot up but i was wondering.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe instruction at "0x5ba06ela" referenced memory at "0x5ba06ela". The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of "0xc000009c".The laptop is slower than normal. Everything else seems to work apart from the internet and msn messenger, which will load up to begin with, but is slow, but then when something is typed into google or i put my information into msn messenger to log on it freezes and says they are not responding to send error report.

And if it was, I hate the balloons along with others that tell me other things. The question, how do I shut that thing off? I can't find it anywhere in the Windows Security Alert section or Security Alerts section. Does anyone of you pros know how?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently installed Sony Sound Forge 8 which, as part of the installation, creates an ASP.NET user.Since this user was created, I have to click on my User Account to log in (it's the only one thatg shows on the welcome screen, the ASP one is hidden) How do I get it back to logging me in automatically - there's no password on the account.
where if i log off an account and try to log in again, there is a 1 min "Loading account settings" (i've checked it and its loading WgaLogon.dll...) and then there is an endless? (i've only been patient enough to leave it for 15 minutes) screen showing the desktop image.I can open the Task Administer and see there are some processes working (scvhost.exe mainly). I notice this not in the cpu-usage column, but on the memory-usage column, where these processes change the used memory (not in great numbers, though) Fast user switching works fine if i dont sign off of any account (I currently have only two).
View 10 Replies View Relateda friend has a Dell Dimension 4550 (P4-2Ghz, 60Gb HDD, 784mb RAM- added 512mb and a NEC DVD+/-R, circa 2002 I think?) and needs to do a clean install. He has the CD that came with it. We looked all over google and the Dell site and can't seem to find out how to do a clean install. We pressed F12 and tried to boot from the CD-ROM and thought it was going to work, but it said that we were trying to install XP on a partition that already had XP on it. I saw no option for full/clean restore.

View 14 Replies View RelatedEver since I got this PC I have struggled to log on to AOL. When signing on, I need to time exactly the moment the modem arrows at the bottom of the screen turn from yellow to green with the moment AOL tries to move to step 2 of the 6 steps it does while logging in. i.e. when the second of the 3 globes on the AOL screen appears. This is very difficult to do as I have to click the sign on button a few seconds before I think the arrows will go green and I have to time it exactly right. I need to repeatedly unplug and plug in the modem for each attempt. Sometimes I drop lucky and get on quickly, today took 45 minutes! I have reloaded both AOL and the modem several times, but this makes no difference. Once I am in, the connection is fine. If I log out of AOL and then back in again without turning off the PC then I get back in again straight away. I have a PC in another room which has no such problems.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have recently reformatted my hard drive and i must say that everything is running fine. Everything, all my programs, all that good stuff.Im running Windows Xp, Media Center Edition, with fairly solid specs behind it.I just have one problem, when the system starts up. It does not stop at the log on screen, it just continues into my account without even asking for a password. Now i dont need other people being able to get on my computer simply by turning it on.
