View 2 RepliesWindows 8 Pro. My Shutdown button (physical and the one in the operating system) restarts the machine.
1. Make a shortcut
2. RegEdit change the reboot value to 0
3. And checking the main properties of the Shutdown function and removing the "Fast Start" option.
None of them worked. Sometimes my windows is giving me "Light blue" screen where is sad face icon ( ) and said that something went wrong, system need to restart, but that is only sometimes.
When I am trying to shutdown, machine calms down, screens went to black but then, restart happens.
I have a problem that started yesterday. Every 30 seconds Windows Explorer (not the browser) crashes, then restarts. I run Xmarks within FireFox, I thought this was the problem because Xmarks as of yesterday asks me every 40 seconds if I want to sync my bookmarks, if I choose cancel, Windows Explorer will crash then restart.
When Firefox is closed, Explorer continues to crash and restart, almost every 30-35 seconds. I have Windows 8.1 up to date, with all the latest updates, FireFox is up to date. As of writting this post, Windows Explorer has crashed and restarted (5) times.
Right after I installed the windows 8 I tried to make a new connection to the internet (I have a modem), but when I hit the button connect (after typing the username and password for the new connection) I get an error ("Windows run into a problem and needs to restart") and it restarts.
I re-installed Windows 8 three times so far but no success.I keep getting the same error just when it tries to connect to internet.
When I shutdown my Windows 8 PC, it doesn't seem to shutdown, but instead restarts
What could be causing this?
Specs are below,
I am using Dell Latitude D520 running in Windows 8. I just bought a new webcam, installed the drivers without any difficulties. But when I try to view my webcam, either Amcap, yahoo messenger, or any programs or websites that displays my webcam, Windows 8 would prompt me that my PC encountered an error and restarts.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 8.1 running on my Acer Aspire V3-772G. Windows explorer crashes randomly, and restarts instantly.
Various solutions on the internet are for problems where explorer crashes due to a specific task such as accessing some programs. In my case, it is just random and occurs once in a while.
Whenever I click the "shut down" button, the PC powers off for a moment and then just starts up again... I've tried disabling fast boot option in the power settings but that does nothing. Also every time my PC starts it says "Your PC ran into a problem" and some other info about on how it is a "system failure" and how I can send it to Microsoft. It also creates a MEMORY.DMP file in my System32 folder. This is really bugging me and it's happening since I reinstalled my Windows after getting a new motherboard, cpu and ram. Should I try reinstalling my Windows 8 again or is there a simpler solution to this? Also I have the latest version of BIOS and my system specs are:
Gigabyte GA-970A-D3 rev 3.0
AMD FX-8320 Black Edition Turbo mode @ 3.7ghz
2x4GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 @ 1600mhz (it goes a little bit over that since of the turbo mode of my cpu)
VIA Audio integrated on the mobo
LC Power LC600H-12 @ 600W
Just the other day i was having problems with the Temporary profile problem, but by the end of the day i finally fixed it. But i also deleted my user account so i found this program that will restore deleted data, it was in trial mode so i only allowed me to download 1 Gb so i got what I thought was the most important like App data, contacts, desktop, documents, KAG, and all of the little files at the end of the screen.
I put all of the things in my account once the problem was fixed. Then every time i open my windows explorer and i try to open anything it says that windows explorer has crashed and then it restarts.
I have successfully upgraded 2 Windows 8 pro media centre PC's, a desk top and a netbook, but the 3rd, gets stuck in a continuous loop.
After initiating the upgrade from the store, the download bar slowly works its way up to 50%, the installation process starts, and as soon as it gets to "getting your PC ready" the download process starts again from scratch. This is a very common problem, but Microsoft are still silent on the issue.
It is bad enough that I have to download the file 3 times, rather than just download one ISO, but this one download has now happened at least a dozen times.
All Windows 8 updates had been done and I have cleared the Windows Store cache.
The setuperr file gives
MOUPG SetupMgr: Error reading Store SQM registry data. Data = [StoreSetupDownloadPause], HRESULT = [0x80070002]

I have just installed windows 8.Whenever I connect the computer to the internet the windows gets crashed and computer restarts. Remedy if any?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo my windows 8.1 installation became corrupted, so I backed up data and did a clean install after deleting all partitions.
After the install on the first boot, right after the process of "installing apps", it showed an error message saying an error occurred causing windows to restart, and created a memory.dmp file.
I just want to make sure this installation is stable before continuing to update to 8.1, especially after my previous issues. There are also some errors in the event log that I don't understand.
The errors came after install of Windows 8, as that was the key I had.
Windows failed to download and install 92 updates with error code 80248007
My windows 8 computer keeps on restarting many times without much gap, and inturn it leaves me a error code before it restarts, and the error code is 0x0000005D. For the first time in a day, the computer works properly for an hour or less, then it restarts continuously by showing that error message. Am unable to fix this because my computer won't stay for a longer time to check out the issue, I have less than a hour to check and solve the problem, so a solution to fix this kind of errors.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've an odd issue. Every time I boot up my computer for the first time in the evening after work, it will freeze and crash several times but then remain fine for the rest of the night after multiple restarts. The cycle then repeats itself the next day.

Over the past two weeks I have been trying to install the Windows 8.1 upgrade using the Windows Store. The download proceeds to between 50% and 60% and then restarts or hangs for hours. I have performed the pre-8.1 upgrades to my Toshiba C855D laptop as directed before the download.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI failed several times at installing Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit on my Latitude E6510 (from July 2010). Windows 7 Pro 32 bit was pre-installed when I bought the laptop. As I recently upgraded the RAM from 3 to 8 GB, I would like to use a 64 bit system now.I tried to boot from the installation DVD and the windows flag appears. After several seconds, a message on a blue background pops up: "Your PC ran into a problem. We are collecting some information and then we will restart it for you." That is the message, as fas as I can remember. It is only shown for one second and then the laptop reboots automatically. I have got no chance to get into an installation menu. I already tried a BIOS update from A03 to the most recent version A16 with no success. Boot mode is set to legacy at the moment, I also tried UEFI temporarily, with no change...
View 4 Replies View RelatedLaptop refuses to screenblank and also to go to sleep. I've tried the usual by going to Power Options and making sure everything is in sync there but not works.
Will the download work in Windows 8.1. I am referring to what is pasted below ...
"Windows To Go" Sleep - Enable or Disable in Windows 8
To Enable Sleep in "Windows To Go" Workspace NOTE: This is the default setting.
Recently, my taskbar started doing a strange crashing/restarting thing. It disappears for a second, leaving behind the drop shadow, then restarts and works fine. Looks like this:
See the shadow line there?
I was able to duplicate it when I realized it would happen each time I opened an old program, but also happens at seemingly random times. Sometimes it takes just a second to reboot, other times it stays this way for a minute before returning.
My PC reboots/restarts when I attempt to wake it up by pressing the keyboard after having put it to sleep or hibernate. I do not get a BSOD.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen Windows 8 menu appears on start and I choose W7 - instead of loading W7directly , the computer is new-starting again and only than starts w7. That's a funny "behaviour"....
Also, after starting the computer, the menu is not directly shown up, first is this turning wi8 circle (like in the setup) and only about 30 sec. later comes the menu. I am using windows 8 enterprise, test version.
Upgraded to Windows 8 from XP a couple of months ago.
Everything's fine except on occasion it loads up blank, like it's just been newly installed. It takes longer to boot when this happens (a couple of minutes as opposed to ~10-15 seconds). It still signs into my profile as normal, but then I'm displayed with this Metro Desktop screen:
If I right click> all apps then everything appears to still be there. A restart solves this and it loads normally.
When i start up the system... nothing happens ... its just blank screen no words like...pres F2 for bios options etc. Just blank idk what happened it just happen like that after i resumed the system from hibernate ....
I tried removing battery and re starting still like that. The light indicators lights up in processing ... power leds both have lights ....
When my computer restarts, it seems to never end. I once waited 20 minutes for it to restart but it was still at the same screen. Now whenever it goes into restart, I just hold my power button until it shuts down. I don't think it's good for my laptop so I want to figure out a way to have a fast restart. I got this laptop 3 weeks ago and it always had this problem. My old laptop restarts in under 2 minutes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got in the mail 2 ssd's and the HD7870 video card along with a copy of windows 8.1 complete (retail). My boot ssd (one I'm trying to install on) is a 60gb Mushkin and the other is the one I was going to put games on the 240gb Mushkin.
So I hooked the 60gb one up and put in my install disk for the 64bit of windows 8.1. It went through the install fine, then it said it needed to restart to complete and when it restarted it gave me the black screen of death. It sat there for over 30 minutes then the screen turned to a yellowish orange.
So I formatted the ssd, reinstalled fresh again. Same thing.
I then tried the 240gb thinking maybe I had a bad ssd. Same thing.
Then I tried an old 500gb Seagate that I knew worked but I formatted it and installed. Same thing.
So back to the 60gb I went, formatted, reinstalled 8.1 then it did the black screen again. So I tried booting over a couple times till it gave me the option to start in safe mode with networking. It started in a black screen with the blue windows logo... and stayed there for an hour.
I then tried the command prompt methods of BOOTREC/FIXMBR, BOOTREC/FIXBOOT, BOOTREC/REBUILDBCD and restarted with same black screen. *after the rebuildbcd, it said copies of windows = 0???*
So I tried to start using the install CD as a recovery drive, it brought up the option to install windows....
I'm not sure how I can get dumps or test stuff if there is no way for me to even get to the actual explorer other than the black screen or the black screen with the blue window logo, or even he more rare black screen with underscore blinking...
This is a strange issue that started happening to me a few weeks ago. On my laptop, I put the computer to sleep, then close the lid. To wake it up, I just open the lid. Recently, about 1/4 of the time I wake up my computer, the lock screen does not appear, but instead it seems that my computer crashes then restarts. I don't have any USB devices plugged into my laptop, just the power cord.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had this Dell XPS for the last 3 years I guess and over the past 4 or 5 months, my computer has been randomly restarting, freezing and now today crashing. Sometimes I'll be on it and it will restart, sometimes I won't even be near it when it restarts. Last week I was on it and my screen went half blue, but I could still see part of my browser but it was frozen. So I just had to cut power. Here is a picture of said incident. [URL] ....
I've also had it freeze and then I come in the room and my tower sounds like a jet engine and I have to turn it off. Then yesterday the blue (as seen above) cascaded down my screen, froze and gave me the BSOD. I've had 3 crashes in less then 24 hours and I'm at a loss as to what to do. I think I have every driver updated, but maybe I'm missing something.
I have a problem with my machine I've been battling for months now. It will just randomly restart and I could be doing anything. It has happened when browsing the web, playing games, and even when the motherboard logo shows up during startup.
It never seems to crash when running Prime95 or OCCT stress tests. What I've done:
Hardware
-Re-installed windows twice
-Purchased new motherboard
-Purchased new CPU cooler (from air into liquid)
-Purchased new GPU (HD7950 to GTX780)
-Purchased SSD
-Monitoring software showed PSU 12v rail running at 10.8v when stressed. Checked 4 pin molex connector with voltmeter and it measured 12.2v and it dropped to 12.1v under stress.
-Changed the case, thought it was a short circuit somewhere.
Software
-Run multiple stress tests which did not cause a crash.
-Ran Prime95 and Battlefield 4 at the same time. No crash
-Updated GPU drivers
-Updated motherboard drivers
-Can't update BIOS, scared computer will restart during the flash. My motherboard revision is 1.01 and
-I've run memtest for 5 hours, but I should do it again
Sometimes, instead of a restart, my display will turn off and any sound playing will begin to loop. PC will be unresponsive. CPU temps reach only about 35 degrees under full load.
Since upgrading my XPS 8700 from Windows 8.1 to 8.1 Pro (via the Win 8.1 Pro Pack upgrade) every time I shut down the system - no matter if I use the "charms" power button or the shut down option from the half-baked "start button" - my computer restarts. I've checked Microsoft's Windows user forums and followed one suggestion to turn off fast startup, but this did not solve the problem. My computer would occasionally restart rather than shut down when running Windows 8 (the original OS) and 8.1, but now it happens every time I shut down.
ODD ASIDE: My two year old Inspiron 620, which supposedly wasn't upgradeable to Windows 8 from Win 7 shuts down running Win 8.1 Pro with no problem whatsoever.
