View 9 Replies View RelatedFor some unknown reasons, whenever I tried to install the Wi-fi driver on my laptop, after proceeding setup file agreements nothing happens.
My laptop is compaq 610 and I've tried installing latest drivers downloaded from softpedia.
In the device manager, I got the exclamation mark for wi-fi driver. In properties window, this is showing that device can not start.
After I upgraded my windows 7 to windows 8 pro I had this problem . There are four devices that have a yellow exclamation mark showing in the Device manager.
They are WAN Miniport (IKEv2 / L2TP/PPTP/SSTP)
All of them show this error: This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
I don not know what these devices do or how to fix it .. I have also problem in Merto apps they cannot connect to the internet even though I can browse and download .. I do not know if those WAN Miniport devices cause this problem.
My wifi on my laptop keeps acting up. at a random time the wifi bar in the lower right hand side turns to a yellow exclamation mark over it, after hovering over it it says 'limited'. Usually if i just turn off the wifi then immediately on again it will sort it out.
Can't work out if its a driver issue, my isp or a windows 8.1 issue. The laptop i have is an assus k53sv. the driver i have installed is 'Qualcomm Atheros AR9002WB-1NG'.
I have a new lap top with windows 8 .I do not know how to see the time and date. It suddenly appears on lower left for some reason but I cannot see where to access it when I want it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have installed Win 8.1 on my PC. I have noticed the system changing after sometime to the next day and the time also changes to 12:00AM. When I go to Date and Time setting by clicking "Time and Language", I find the "Set Time Automatically" option disabled and it is set to "ON".
I think it is synchronising automatically from the internet time server. I have my time zone also correctly to my region.
Either way, the other day I accidentally removed the date and time from the bottom right hand corner of the Windows 8 taskbar. I did this when i was trying to set the time from the Windows defaulted US Pacific Time to US Eastern Standard Time. How to get it back on the taskbar. Why my Java location on my computer is saying that it is "corrupted". I think it is related to Windows 8 upgrade.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSome of my movie files (file type doesn't matter) became corrupted; when I play them in VLC they cause errors, they were just fine before and nothing has changed. I noticed in Explorer that these files have no Date Modified field, it's simply blank; I've never seen anything like that.
I did a chkdsk on the drive and see no errors. What could it be ?
The way the date and sidebar pop up whenever I use my mouse in certain places is very annoying.
How do I disable both of them?
Also, how do I disable password protected log-on?
two days ago my friend D:/ drive was formatted by someone. and he says that i was the last person using after that format he has seen.i havent done that. i want to is there a way to find the last format date and time of drive . event viewer or any log or any software.
View 14 Replies View RelatedThe Modified date of files in Windows Explorer is shown as Today - Yesterday - Friday ..... and if it's older than a week as a date 13/02/2013.
Is there any way to always show the modified column as date and not day-of-week?
How to do this, either through a registry hack, or with some small program?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have saved numerous files to my hard drive which I am now going back through in trying to put the proper dates that they were made (most of them are audio files; but there are definitely files from every category) and for the most part, I am able to get all of the information that I needed just by right clicking on the file, scrolling down to "Properties" and then selecting the "Details" tab. Nevertheless, for some reason, a good 25-40% of them show a completely inaccurate date. So my question is: any failsafe/foolproof way of finding the correct date in question and on top of that, knowing whether or not that date is actually legitimate; whether that be with the use of some outside program, a command prompt, or some other shortcut?

I couldn't figure out how to obtain the format below on the task bar
dd/MM/YYYY

I had 8.1 installed, and did the update from 8/12/2014 and now I can't change my date and time from the desktop, it gives me the following message;
You are attempting to open a file type of 'System file' (.cpl)
These files are used by the operating system and by various programs. Modifying or editing them could damage your system.

So what do I use to open and run it?
Windows 8.1 is becoming a real hassle to deal with
Will updating my BIOS changs the date of installation? If not, does the BIOS need to be replaced for this to occur? I am trying to apply to a job but their software is telling them my computer is too old. I've checked and the date they are showing is the BIOS date exactly.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI keep loosing the date/time main screen area after the computer is idle for any extended period of time.
When I move the mouse to log back in I get the main screen, but no time/date on the left side and I cannot log back in, no keys work.
I have to turn the power off and then re power up - then the time/date etc re appear and I can log in.

I have a acer aspire laptop- 771-6865.
I upgraded my Desktop which uses Vista to Windows 8. I tried opening a video the other day but my Video card driver is out of date. What should I do.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSplitting PST files based on date allows you to split PST file for a particular duration. When the Split file based on date option is selected, a new PST file is created containing only the emails received or sent during that specified duration. The integrity of original PST file is kept intact. But how can we handle that? Show me the way.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to print web pages but all I get is the Page 1 of _ on the top and the file name and date on the bottom. The rest of the sheet is blank. I have no problem printing excel documents, just web pages.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Windows 8 Pro on my Acer Aspire 5515 notebook. I set the time and date on the desktop clock, and every time I log in, the time and date are wrong and I have to reset them again. I have a dual boot setup with Windows 8 on one partition, and Ubuntu 12.10 on the other.
It doesn't appear to be an issue with the hardware of my computer, because the time and day stay set in Ubuntu. Some time ago, I was running a boot time diagnostic, and I got a warning the the was not timer connected to the apic...but that's all I could read before the message disappeared, I researched what I could and learned that this could and learned this had something to do with a physical component of my processor or related to my processor, but was unable to find out any more. As far as I know, this is the only hardware problem I have, and I thought this might be the cause of my erratic time/date.
I have some problems ....
1. My keyboard cant properly type in " without me inputting another input. so everytime i wanna type in " i need to click space just to make it appear. how do i make it normal?
2. My date and time keeps changing and it makes me lose track of time quite a lot. its already set to automatic internet time, but it keeps changing still. i keep changing it back, resyncing and stuff. How to make it stop?
Platform: skype, desktop program, not the Windows 8 metro app
Ok Skype for some reason seems to think its december 8th of all things, we've confirmed the computer's date/time settings are correct...
My Windows cannot be activated. I have tried several different methods of activation but none seem to work. My computer was Windows 8 pre-installed before purchase. Because of this I literally have no product key. I have checked my email and searched for anything that seems Windows related just to make sure of a product key to be found.
Eventually I came across a program that told me my product key. After I found my key, I then tried multiple methods of activation and nothing seemed to have worked. I am running Windows 8 on a 64-bit system. This problem started on the 28th of June and I found out that this could be a hacker attacking my key (using a key-gen and my key being used on another computer) how can I solve this!? any method I will try!
When I first installed Windows 8 I got 2 free WMC keys. I used one on my Windows 8 system and never used the 2nd one. I have installed 8.1 preview using the ISO and Hyper-V. Today I used "Add features to Windows 8" using the unused WMC key to install WMC on my 8.1 virtual system and it worked great.
Windows Media Center - Add to Windows 8
Part of my job is to prepare new laptops for end users that comes from OEMs. Since the included windows installation on most laptops is loaded with "bloatwares" we used to deploy a fresh Win7 Image in WDS and activate using OEM slic which made them completely legal. That was in the Windows 7 days.
Now I'm trying to do about the same thing with Windows 8 however since there is no SLIC it gets a little bit trickier.
Here is what we are doing right now:
-pull the hard drive from the laptop
-make a backup of 'Store' folder
-Reinstall hard drive, deploy Image or Clone from same model.
-pull the hard drive again
-overwrite content of Store folder with the old one
-Change folder permissions
-put the hard disk back in the laptop, let it boot.
-Windows complain about an activation error, reboot or CMD>slmgr -dli.
-activated again.
The hardest part in fact is to take note of which Store folder goes with which laptop.
I have an Windows 8 With Media Center Activated since November 2012 and i have not any problem , now i want to upgrade to win8.1 WMC.
This is what I downloaded : "Windows_8.1_EN-US_x64.ISO"
-How to convert Win8.1 rtm to wmc ?
-Upgrade from win8 wmc to win8.1 wmc and preserve the activation ( i have more than 3 PCs i cant include the data files in each .ISO)?
I found several windows 8.1 activation methods in forum but which one is the best and most safe?
(I need something like Daz windows 7 loader that was clean and great)
