Dec 14, 2013I just tried to print a web page that I had up. Control-P didn't work and when I went to the charms, it told me that I could only print from apps? I'm confused.

Hardware Drivers :: Windows 8 - Test Page Failed To Print?
Sep 24, 2013I have had Win 8 Pro up and running for about a month and I am having a continuing printing problem. I have 2 printers that I am trying to print to. An HP 4250 and a Ricoh C821DN. Both are on the network and I access them through the local IP address. They both installed fine, but half the time I cannot print to them. When I print, the print command finishes, but nothing prints and nothing is in the que.
I try printing a test page and I get an error box saying that "Test Page Failed to Print". Running through the troubleshooter only makes the printer the default printer and that has no effect. I can see the printer through my browser by typing in the IP address and everything is fine. I also have my laptop running windows 7 right next to me on the network and it prints to both printers just fine.
Sometimes Win 8 will print and sometimes it wont, often for hours at a time.

Nov 29, 2013How to set the IE11 in Win 8.1 to only print a web page in Black and White. In Win 7 I had found it but with great difficulty and I believe it was in Internet tools if you drill down far enough. In Win 8.1 I cannot find it so that when printing out a web page that has red and blue it is almost impossible to read on my Dell 1700 monochrome laser. I tried in the Devices and Printers, Dell, both Printer preferences and printer properties but cannot find anywhere to set. I am fairly certain it is a setting that has to be made in Internet Explorer but they seem to have hidden it (I think I was using IE9 or IE10 in Win 7). In Excel you can set that parameter for each page in page setup.

Jul 8, 2013I have an Epson BX635FWD printer that has and does work perfectly with Windows XP. I have recently purchased a Lenovo B540 with Windows 8 and it loaded the print drivers immediately. I thought how easy it was but have since found that it will not print a multi page document in full, but will suddenly stop halfway through a page. I made do by printing a couple of pages at a time, but then tried to print a 10 x 15 cm photo and it would only print 1/3 before stopping and spitting the paper out. The number of pages it prints correctly before giving an error message and ejecting the paper is inconsistent.
I have reloaded driver 1.32 (for Windows 8) from the Epson site twice and I have also gone back to the disc supplied with the printer and reloaded the driver from there.

Jul 18, 2013I have a home network with an XP system with a printer attached and shared. A Windows 7 laptop and my old XP laptop from work can print fine, but a new Windows 8 laptop won't print. Sharing from the XP system works as I can read files from the XP system on the new Windows 8 system. When I do an Add Printer on the Windows 8 laptop, I can see the network printer and install it and the driver so the printer shows up as installed on the Windows 8 system. The Print Test Page does not work nor printing from WordPad. I turned off the Firewall on the XP system in case that was the problem.

Apr 22, 2014I am trying out the x64 version of windows 8.1 update on a fresh install. The printer I have is a HP710c and the drivers are provided in windows both 32 bit and 64 bit. Printer works fine in the 32 bit version but nothing happens on the 64 bit OS. Documents go to the spooler then just disappear as if being printed but arent.
Also the spooler seems to fall over when I send a document to the printer or try to print a test page. Tried the trouble shooter and changed the settings on the print spooler service to always restart after error.

Apr 15, 2014I'm running Windows 8.1 and I'm trying to print from a network printer. One job is clogging the rest of the jobs and is stuck on "deleting" but won't ever get deleted. Others on the network are still able to print from the printer. So far I've tried:
-Clicking on "cancel" in the job queue
-Restarting the computer
-Restarting the printerRemoving/re-adding the printer from Printers and Devices
-Uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers
-Stopping/Restarting the Spool service in Task manager
-Looking for the files found in /System32/spool/PRINTERS
The weird thing, actually, is that there was no folder "PRINTERS" when I go to /System32/spool. I know that deleting the files in there often fixes the problem, but I can't even find a PRINTERS folder.

Feb 6, 2014I was able to print to my network-attached Brother 2070N and 3045CN laser printers until recently. Driver have been loaded, printers are discovered and added to the client, but every time I try to print I receive the message "Printer not ready". All of the Windows 7 clients can print to these 2 printers, it's just my 64bit Windows 8.1 Enterprise computer that cannot. If I can't get this resolved soon, I'll have to go back to Win7.

It shows up on the system in my new win8.1 system, but when I try to use CTRL + P to print from Firefox, nothing happens, and its not an option using the context menu. So am I not supposed to print anymore unless I use the apps supplied by windows?
If I select the print option in the hidden menu o the right (Charm?) I get a message "you can only print from an app" Is a browser not an app? I thought that an app was just slang for a program.
I assume that there is a way to print from a browser, or even to an adobe pdf.

The Print Spooler no longer shows in my Services. I cannot find it in my Registry. Everything I tried when I googled the problem did not work. Jan 23, 2014Installed a new laser jet printer and can't print multiple pages. Looked the problem up on other forums and it says to disable mopier mode. I can't find this anywhere. Have looked in printer properties and selected device settings tab and it's not there. Is there a different way of doing this on Windows 8 or am I doing completely the wrong thing to solve this problem.

Jul 8, 2013I cannot print with Win8anymore! I was able to print on my WIFI networked printers previously with this computer.
Other computers on the network can print to them. Upon investigation, I found that the print spoiler ws off. I found the MS directions for restarting the Spooler. I turned it on it shuts itself off when you look at the installed print drivers!

Apr 21, 2014I downloaded my bank statement today and printed same. Print came out pretty small. Normally, on my windows XP pro, when I did this, the print was normal size, if I can say that. Usually it was a "fit-to-page" thing. I couldn't see a way to download the file and make any modifications. Also, in the past I was using Adobe Reader program. Wondering what program windows 8.1 is using and if I need to download and install the Adobe program and somehow set it as the default program.

Is there a way to send a wake command to the system when I want to print? WOL is working on the system. I noticed Homegroup has the option to wake the computer to view shares (and that does work).
If I can't wake the computer before a print job, what is the best practice to conserve energy on a system that is primary used as a print server?
