Hardware Drivers :: Using Windows 8 Laptop To Use Airprint To Print Documents?
Nov 23, 2013
I have recently got a new printer and it supports airprint. I was wondering whether I could use my windows 8 laptop to use airprint to print my documents instead of installing the driver which keeps on failing as it cant maintain wireless contact.
After transferring my files using Windows 8 easy file transfer to my new laptop, how do I tell the new laptop where my documents are? The are in OS(CusersBobDocuments)...
When I try to print pdf files the print dialog box goes away but the print job just disappears. Nothing comes out on the printer. No errors or anything. I have tried different printers on my network. Not sure what's going on.
I have installed windows 8 consumer preview.I have also installed my printer drivers and they installed correctly, but problem is that my printer can't print anything(test page also). My printer is HP Laser-jet 1020.
I am trying out the x64 version of windows 8.1 update on a fresh install. The printer I have is a HP710c and the drivers are provided in windows both 32 bit and 64 bit. Printer works fine in the 32 bit version but nothing happens on the 64 bit OS. Documents go to the spooler then just disappear as if being printed but arent.
Also the spooler seems to fall over when I send a document to the printer or try to print a test page. Tried the trouble shooter and changed the settings on the print spooler service to always restart after error.
I have had Win 8 Pro up and running for about a month and I am having a continuing printing problem. I have 2 printers that I am trying to print to. An HP 4250 and a Ricoh C821DN. Both are on the network and I access them through the local IP address. They both installed fine, but half the time I cannot print to them. When I print, the print command finishes, but nothing prints and nothing is in the que.
I try printing a test page and I get an error box saying that "Test Page Failed to Print". Running through the troubleshooter only makes the printer the default printer and that has no effect. I can see the printer through my browser by typing in the IP address and everything is fine. I also have my laptop running windows 7 right next to me on the network and it prints to both printers just fine.
Sometimes Win 8 will print and sometimes it wont, often for hours at a time.
I just tried to print a web page that I had up. Control-P didn't work and when I went to the charms, it told me that I could only print from apps? I'm confused.
I have my HP 8500 Pro set up to print, but I cannot scan. Any word on how to do this? When I went to scan/fax, it says that I have no scanner hooked up.
I am trying to print a gift card from the internet that someone sent me from Facebook. It is telling me I cannot print until I use One Note one time. I don't want One Note.... How can I get this off my computer so I can print. This is maddening... I buy a printer and computer and can't print until I use their product?
OK so I right clicked and made my printer the default and it still won't print. I ended up thinking I was deleting the print queue and my whole printer disappeared. Do I have to now reinstall my printer??????
I'm unable to print on my Xerox WorkCentre PE220. Win 8 installed the driver properly and did not show any errors or red flags during and after the installation. When I print a window shows up saying error cannot print.
My boss formerly had Windows XP installed on her computer. She downloaded Windows 8, just recently. Additionally, she downloaded the new Office, so it may not be a Windows problem. But none of her documents are printing properly. They look fine on the print screen, but they all come out with asymmetrical margins. We have tried moving the margins, but they still print with a larger left margin.
How to set the IE11 in Win 8.1 to only print a web page in Black and White. In Win 7 I had found it but with great difficulty and I believe it was in Internet tools if you drill down far enough. In Win 8.1 I cannot find it so that when printing out a web page that has red and blue it is almost impossible to read on my Dell 1700 monochrome laser. I tried in the Devices and Printers, Dell, both Printer preferences and printer properties but cannot find anywhere to set. I am fairly certain it is a setting that has to be made in Internet Explorer but they seem to have hidden it (I think I was using IE9 or IE10 in Win 7). In Excel you can set that parameter for each page in page setup.
I'm running Windows 8.1 and I'm trying to print from a network printer. One job is clogging the rest of the jobs and is stuck on "deleting" but won't ever get deleted. Others on the network are still able to print from the printer. So far I've tried:
-Clicking on "cancel" in the job queue -Restarting the computer -Restarting the printerRemoving/re-adding the printer from Printers and Devices -Uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers -Stopping/Restarting the Spool service in Task manager -Looking for the files found in /System32/spool/PRINTERS
The weird thing, actually, is that there was no folder "PRINTERS" when I go to /System32/spool. I know that deleting the files in there often fixes the problem, but I can't even find a PRINTERS folder.
I was able to print to my network-attached Brother 2070N and 3045CN laser printers until recently. Driver have been loaded, printers are discovered and added to the client, but every time I try to print I receive the message "Printer not ready". All of the Windows 7 clients can print to these 2 printers, it's just my 64bit Windows 8.1 Enterprise computer that cannot. If I can't get this resolved soon, I'll have to go back to Win7.
I have a ASUS N56VM laptop, I have upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro a few months ago (free DreamSpark account) and I can't get USB 3.0 to work at the speeds at which it needs to work. An 3GB ISO which I copy from my HDD to an USB3.0 USB-stick gets a max speed of 25 mb per second. I have already tried everything I could think of, including the following:
Upgrading Intel chipset drivers from ASUS support site (delete old, install new)Upgrading BIOSINF hack (Windows 8 and Intel USB 3.0 Host Controllers | Plugable) "Windows 8* has a native in-box USB 3.0 driver. Intel is not releasing a specific Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for Windows 8."
The driver I have is: imgur: the simple image sharer
The only thing I can think of is maybe mailing ASUS if they can supply a new BIOS revision or mailing Intel if they can supply some new chipset drivers...
EDIT1: A few months back, when the laptop was still running Windows 7, the read/write speeds were "normal", meaning that they were what you would expect from USB 3.0.
My laptop is a Samsung, about 9 months old and has a pretty good spec. Suddenly, over the past few days, I've noticed that the keyboard in lagging whenever I'm logged on. It's fine at the login screen but, once I've logged on the problem occurs - and it happens on all programs. I know that this is specifically an issue with Windows 8, as I have a virtual Ubuntu machine on here that is working fine.
None of the keyboard settings have been altered and no new applications have been installed or upgraded recently.
Since installing Windows 8 to my laptop, I can no longer display to my Samsung USB hub monitor.
When I try to duplicate or extend, the hub says 'Connecting to PC...' but then nothing happens. Something is working as my mouse and keyboard are plugged into the hub and they work. I just cant get the display. I think all my drivers are up to date.
I'm using windows 8 pro which I upgraded from windows 7 home premium in january. After the upgrade, my e key stopped working. After another few months, more keys stopped working and now, no keys are working. What do I do?
A newbie to Windows 8.1 (moving from XP!)...The new PC seemed to detect and install the drivers needed for our Canon MP610 no problem and I have successfully printed from Word. But when I open a saved pdf, it doesn't print: it just endlessly says 'spooling'.
I have an Asus laptop with Windows 8 64-Bit on it and I uninstalled AsusDVD after having some issues with it. After I did this my laptop no longer allowed me to play DVDs. Despite having Windows Media Player, which I know plays DVDs since I have it on my desktop.
Is there a way that I can change some settings to use Windows Media Player? When I open "Autoplay" Windows Media Player is not an option to play it on and there isn't anything else on my laptop that can play it. I tried a few different free DVD players, but none were able to play them for some reason.
How I can get Windows Media Player to play DVDs or suggest a free software that I can download that will play DVDs?
I'm running Windows 8 and Office 2010. I can't open Excel, Publisher or Powerpoint documents from Windows Explorer or from emails attachments. I can run Word without problem from Windows Explorer.
The files run fine from within the programmes.
An Office window comes up and tells me that the product required is not loaded on this machine. Graphics are attached.
It has a button beside the label saying "I already purchased Office 2010". I click on this button and it asks me to run the installation programme. The following message comes up, "You cannot install the 32 bit version of Office 2010 because you have The 64 bit version installed......"
I dont have windows 8. She has a new computer with windows 8 built in. Also has a new printer, an Epson WF2530, multi.
She has installed the printer..but is at a total loss as to how to print something, like when in an email, etc..no PRINT option shows up? She has tried to right click and nothing comes up with printer. Somone mentioned using CONTROL P, but not sure if that worked.
So, have a client who runs Windows 8. Can't print to any of the printers in their office. They have shared / wireless and a couple of USB connected ones. Each one installed /configured indivdually and the test print will queue up but nothing will happen, it just sits there and does nothing
The ONLY thing i could managed to get to print was through bullzip (pdf creator )
check printer spooler checked permissions on spooler/printers folder re-installed printers different ways they all seem to install just fine, but won't print
Computer has been rebooted several times to no avail. I tried different drivers for each.... ??
Printing was working correctly for me until today.
This morning I installed Windows Update KB2753842. After that, I could not longer print. This might be coincidental, but it is the only thing that I can think of that has changed since I was able to print.
Now, when I try to print I get the 'Save Print Output As' wizard, prompting me to save to a file. This happens even though the previous Print wizard screen has the 'Print to file' choice unticked.
When I run a program in compatibility mode, what changes are made in OS?
To make my question more specific.
When I print from windows 8, the spl file has very different structure than when I print from windows 7.
But when I run the application in compatibility mode windows 7, the spl file that is created is exactly the same with windows 7 spl.
So I try to find out what compatibility mode changes, in order to produce in windows 8 a .spl file that is exactly the same with windows 7 spl, without running my app in compatibility mode.
I'm really enjoying Windows 8. However, I can't figure out how to print a download or PDF when it's downloaded. On XP, there's a menu that shows up around the download with choices. The only choices I can find on Windows 8 is how you want to view the download or closing it. Where do you get the print option?
I have a new HP Touchsmart 15t Laptop. It works well except I notice that the shift key can't seem to keep up with me when I let go. For example sometimes when typing I end up with:
The SHift key sometimes won't de-activate fast enough when I want to type the next letter.
I thought maybe it is just a matter of me getting used to the keyboard, but after a month or so the problem still comes up.
I was wondering if there is some program that can alter the response sensitivity of specific keys.
Today i turned on my G73JH today and my keyboard is not working, I have windows 8.1 and had to use the on screen keyboard to type anything in. The keyboard works fine when i press F2 to go into the bios and and can navigate around the bios no problem.
I have a strange problem: connecting a Canon Powershot G10 digital camera via USB 2.0 to my Win 8.1 laptop presents no problem (info pops up).
But: Using the same cable connected to my desktop PC, there is no reaction whatsoever. No device manager listing, no error message. The USB ports are all working perfectly with other devices (sticks, external hard drive, wireless mouse & keyboard). Moreover, until some weeks ago, the Canon camera was recognized normally.
I've bought a laptop recently, there were some soft (Win 8 and apps) installed. I installed a game and it was running very bad, I couldn't believe such a new device can't run an old game. I've been trying everything, uninstalling drivers, installing drivers from your forum's links (leshcatlabs - I upgraded CCC from 9.0 to 13.0, w/o effect), restarting system (deleting everything that was there and installing brand new copy of windows 8). I don't know where the problem lies, I guess it's a driver thing, but who knows. The laptop doesn't overheat, because I was checking it by a program for that.
The games lag and freeze, League of legends (2009) freezes when there are more action on the screen, the same with Unreal Tournament 2004, FPS number is very low, I could play properly only alone in the game. Dota 2 surprisingly runs on high details but it still lags while in a fight.
I'm ready to restart Windows again and install the programs you say.
