View 2 RepliesI am trying out the x64 version of windows 8.1 update on a fresh install. The printer I have is a HP710c and the drivers are provided in windows both 32 bit and 64 bit. Printer works fine in the 32 bit version but nothing happens on the 64 bit OS. Documents go to the spooler then just disappear as if being printed but arent.
Also the spooler seems to fall over when I send a document to the printer or try to print a test page. Tried the trouble shooter and changed the settings on the print spooler service to always restart after error.
For some reason my printers no longer work. I tried reinstalling the printers and drivers but got an error message that the printer spooler was no longer functioning. The Print Spooler no longer shows in my Services. I cannot find it in my Registry. Everything I tried when I googled the problem did not work. How do you reinstall a Print Spooler or fix a corrupted spoolsv.exe file In the registry?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI cannot print with Win8anymore! I was able to print on my WIFI networked printers previously with this computer.
Other computers on the network can print to them. Upon investigation, I found that the print spoiler ws off. I found the MS directions for restarting the Spooler. I turned it on it shuts itself off when you look at the installed print drivers!
I have windows 8, 32 bit & I'm trying to clear my print spooler, which I've done many times. I go to "run," type "cmd" & enter the command: "net stop spooler." When I execute the spooler command I get the above error message. I did a search on google & got a lot of hits but none of them were useful. What is going on & how do I solve this "system 5 error" problem?
View 6 Replies View RelatedA newbie to Windows 8.1 (moving from XP!)...The new PC seemed to detect and install the drivers needed for our Canon MP610 no problem and I have successfully printed from Word. But when I open a saved pdf, it doesn't print: it just endlessly says 'spooling'.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI dont have windows 8. She has a new computer with windows 8 built in. Also has a new printer, an Epson WF2530, multi.
She has installed the printer..but is at a total loss as to how to print something, like when in an email, etc..no PRINT option shows up? She has tried to right click and nothing comes up with printer. Somone mentioned using CONTROL P, but not sure if that worked.
So, have a client who runs Windows 8. Can't print to any of the printers in their office. They have shared / wireless and a couple of USB connected ones. Each one installed /configured indivdually and the test print will queue up but nothing will happen, it just sits there and does nothing
The ONLY thing i could managed to get to print was through bullzip (pdf creator )
check printer spooler
checked permissions on spooler/printers folder
re-installed printers different ways
they all seem to install just fine, but won't print
Computer has been rebooted several times to no avail. I tried different drivers for each.... ??
This is regular workgroup/ not domain.
When I try to print pdf files the print dialog box goes away but the print job just disappears. Nothing comes out on the printer. No errors or anything. I have tried different printers on my network. Not sure what's going on.
View 6 Replies View RelatedPrinting was working correctly for me until today.
This morning I installed Windows Update KB2753842. After that, I could not longer print. This might be coincidental, but it is the only thing that I can think of that has changed since I was able to print.
Now, when I try to print I get the 'Save Print Output As' wizard, prompting me to save to a file. This happens even though the previous Print wizard screen has the 'Print to file' choice unticked.
I have installed windows 8 consumer preview.I have also installed my printer drivers and they installed correctly, but problem is that my printer can't print anything(test page also). My printer is HP Laser-jet 1020.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I run a program in compatibility mode, what changes are made in OS?
To make my question more specific.
When I print from windows 8, the spl file has very different structure than when I print from windows 7.
But when I run the application in compatibility mode windows 7, the spl file that is created is exactly the same with windows 7 spl.
So I try to find out what compatibility mode changes, in order to produce in windows 8 a .spl file that is exactly the same with windows 7 spl, without running my app in compatibility mode.
I'm really enjoying Windows 8. However, I can't figure out how to print a download or PDF when it's downloaded. On XP, there's a menu that shows up around the download with choices. The only choices I can find on Windows 8 is how you want to view the download or closing it. Where do you get the print option?

I did a clean reinstall on the windows7 pc, and now I can't print to the Xerox from the windows7 pc.
I tried removing and reinstalling the printer on the windows7 pc,
I tried reinstalling the driver for the printer on my windows8 pc,
I tried removing all the computers from the homegroup and recreating the homegroup,
I tried removing the printer from the windows7 pc and changing the name of "workgroup" and then reinstalling the printer on the windows7 pc. But I still can print from the windows7 pc.
I'm trying to print images/pictures using windows photo viewer and I get this error "Your pictures can't be printed because this error occurred".... It doesn't tell me which error.. simply just says that in the dialog box. THe dialog box comes out like 4 times with the same message and I have to click OK.
I've already tried googling it and the only fix I can find is replacing photowiz and I already did but it has fixed. I've also installed Photo Gallery and it stil lgives me the same error when I try to print and picture. I've also reinstalled all my printer drivers...

I need deleting a file in my print que. It says it's deleting the file but nothing happens and other files sent to the printer will not print. I haven't found much that is specific to Windows 8 64 bit with an internet search.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've once again encountered this problem with my Canon PIXMA MP620 printer/scanner: when using it wirelessly, it can't print. According to 'Devices And Printers', it's offline and therefore most programs I use in Windows 8.1 claim it can't print.
However, using Canon's program 'MP Navigator', it can scan from the printer without any problems. I can scan from the computer to the printer and the other way around. Therefore I'm suspecting that the problems lies with Windows 8.1 and not the printer. The connection is obviously there but Windows doesn't seem to think so.
I can't find a solution in the printer's manual, Windows doesn't give me anything when I try to troubleshoot the printer in question, and Canon's own 'Network IJ Tool' can find the printer but says it's doesn't work without clarifying why.
I have had Win 8 Pro up and running for about a month and I am having a continuing printing problem. I have 2 printers that I am trying to print to. An HP 4250 and a Ricoh C821DN. Both are on the network and I access them through the local IP address. They both installed fine, but half the time I cannot print to them. When I print, the print command finishes, but nothing prints and nothing is in the que.
I try printing a test page and I get an error box saying that "Test Page Failed to Print". Running through the troubleshooter only makes the printer the default printer and that has no effect. I can see the printer through my browser by typing in the IP address and everything is fine. I also have my laptop running windows 7 right next to me on the network and it prints to both printers just fine.
Sometimes Win 8 will print and sometimes it wont, often for hours at a time.
Not sure if this is entirely a Win 8 problem but ever since I installed it I have 3 network printers 2 x Kyocera and 1 x Epson. The Kyocera now do not allow me to print from MS office. All drivers are saying up to date and no errors. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both printers.
When I print from Word or Excel I get an error message like this
PCL XL error
Subsystem: TEXT
Error: IllegalGlobalTrueTypeSegment
Operator: ReadFontHeader
Position: 24
If I print a table or anything with a border it will just print a blank table but no text
I can print web pages and PDFs perfectly fine.
I have recently got a new printer and it supports airprint. I was wondering whether I could use my windows 8 laptop to use airprint to print my documents instead of installing the driver which keeps on failing as it cant maintain wireless contact.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have always been able to print from my browser to my network printer. It shows up on the system in my new win8.1 system, but when I try to use CTRL + P to print from Firefox, nothing happens, and its not an option using the context menu. So am I not supposed to print anymore unless I use the apps supplied by windows?
If I select the print option in the hidden menu o the right (Charm?) I get a message "you can only print from an app" Is a browser not an app? I thought that an app was just slang for a program.
I assume that there is a way to print from a browser, or even to an adobe pdf.
Just starting to use my new windows 8 getting frustrated!! How can I print selected text in a email or web page without printing the complete email or web page?? When I select the text and select devices and printer (Canon Pixma MX512) I don't get the option of 'print selection'

Normally, on my windows XP pro, when I did this, the print was normal size, if I can say that. Usually it was a "fit-to-page" thing. I couldn't see a way to download the file and make any modifications. Also, in the past I was using Adobe Reader program. Wondering what program windows 8.1 is using and if I need to download and install the Adobe program and somehow set it as the default program.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a USB printer connected to an 8.1 system. This printer is shared. I don't like keeping the computer on 24/7 so I set it to sleep.
Is there a way to send a wake command to the system when I want to print? WOL is working on the system. I noticed Homegroup has the option to wake the computer to view shares (and that does work).
If I can't wake the computer before a print job, what is the best practice to conserve energy on a system that is primary used as a print server?
All of a sudden find cannot print emails in outlook keep getting this message "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in at the moment. Please try again later".
