HDDs And Split Partition

I'm going to upgrade my whole system at home I'm going to install Windows 8 Pro.
I've got two SATA HDD, sadly I have not SDD , the first one contains two partitions: the first one with the OS and the second one with all the programs/games/utils I've installed in time. The second hard disk contains only datas like movies, pictures, music etc etc.
Just to be more clear, at the moment with Seven I've got C: with the operative system and D: with all software I installed in time with the two folder "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86).
As a fresh Windows 8 installation, need to maintain the double partition of the primary hdd or is it completely useless?

Here is the deal I have 2 hdds (160 gb and 1 tb) late last night used the 1 tb as a flash drive and re installed my OS on the 160 gb drive. The "system" files are on the 1 tb drive and all other files ( boot crash dump etc ) are on the other one.
PROBLEM: while doing a cold start the system fails to spin up th bigger drive in time for the software to detect the system file on the bigger drive and it brings up the boot manager saying files are not present to load, a restart fixes the problem as the bigger drive would be up to speed by then, any work around to delay the boot till both drives are up to speed .........???.
Further i think that moving the "system partition " to the other disk will eliminate this issue ...... how do i go about doing that ... See the image below
QUESTION :if i remove the 1 tb disk physically and reinstall OS and connect it back will everything be as good as new or will it pose problems as then there would be two "system " partitions .....

My current aging computer has an internal 750GB HDD, which is made up mostly of files inside My Documents/My Pictures/My Music/My Videos folders. I just ordered the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 w/ 256GB SSD. I also ordered an external USB 3.0 500GB SSD, so that between the Surface's 256GB SSD and the external 500GB SSD I can transfer all my data from my aging computer.
My question: I would like to set up Windows 8.1 so that the Surface Pro 2 with its 256GB SSD will include the OS, apps, and My Documents folder, and that the attached external USB 3.0 500GB SSD will hold the My Pictures/My Music/My Videos folders. If I'm away from home for the day (or a few days), I will only take the Surface Pro 2 with me and likely leave the external SSD behind because I mostly use the stuff in My Documents.
So, specifically, I'd like to know if you think I should set up Windows with all these folders on the Surface Pro 2, but have the My Pictures/My Music/My Videos folders be empty except for a LINK to folders on the external SSD which will include the actual content (files) of these folders, or should I actually MOVE those three system folders from the 256GB SSD onto the external 500GB drive?

I currently have windows 8 installed. I wish to install another windows 8 os on a separate hdd on the same pc. I wish to do this because I share this pc with my brother who is paranoid that my constant tweaking somehow breaks his games installs. Is dual booting two windows 8 installations possible? If it is, what is the best way of going about it? I have an external hard drive that I backup all of my partitions to using acronis, so I'm not too worried about breaking something.

I am using windows 8 on a Asus touch screen.
When i hover my cursor over the top left corner, nothing happens. When I click windows + period, i get a split screen with my open windows displayed vertically on the right hand side and a blank screen covering the middle and left. But nothing will move to the blank screen. I can't for the life of me figure out how to use this split screen which is the main way I work.
My screen resolution is above 1366.

The screen is split into 8 views immediately from when laptop starts. (2 across and 4 down) Odd thing though is that an external monitor connected only shows the one view.Also the screen will go blank (purple background) every two minutes or so for a few seconds before the screen comes back. The cursor changes to a circle as if something is about to happen just before blank (purple) screen. Could this simply be a graphics driver issue?

i have problem, my hp pavilion dv5 have 1280x800 screen and i cannot split screen in windows 8 like on screenshot. I know i must have min.1366x768 screen but maybe there is option to unlock this option in lower resolution.

Can't view a website and the Excel web app via the split screen. Windows 8 keeps replacing one with the other. I do know how to have 2 sites up at the same time. I access the Excell web app via Sky drive. Is that the problem?

Just today, my desktop's been unable to boot into the login screen on Windows 8.1 due to a blue screen that appears for a split second, and forced the PC to restart. Some of this, I think, should be surely linked to the GPU, as it's left me with a black screen and loud fan noise about three of four times today. Each time I've restarted the PC, it's been able to to get back into Windows, though this time it's just giving me a BSOD that I can barely see at all.
What I'm wanting to know is how can I get it to show me the information for me to diagnose it. Could I use a shortcut on the keyboard, or will the information be saved somewhere?
The GPU I have is the XFX 7950 Core Edition.

Windows 8 allow us to split the screen and see two metro apps at the same time. I miss the windows' windows ( windows without windows is quite stupid for me ), but I like metro. Is there any way to split the screen many times, horizontally and with different ratios? ( not only 80:20 )

Splitting PST files based on date allows you to split PST file for a particular duration. When the Split file based on date option is selected, a new PST file is created containing only the emails received or sent during that specified duration. The integrity of original PST file is kept intact. But how can we handle that? Show me the way.

I was initially very excited to hear that windows 8.1 allowed users to split the screen in any ratio they want (not just 80:20) in metro mode. However, no third-party apps seem to be compatible with this feature. Only Microsoft apps will expand to any ratios other than 80% or 20%. All third party apps will remain in the narrow 20% view even when you try to expand them to, say, take up 50% of the screen.

I'm using win 8.1 with a 2560 x1440 resolution, but I can't seem to get split screen to work. I've tried a few tutorials online, but without success.
I can easily split the screen by left mouse clicking the top of the screen and dragging down. The first window works normally with task bar showing on the bottom, but I can't figure out how to get anything else in the 2nd window that is created. One online tutorial mentioned something about executing a mouse-over on the left or upper left corner, but that doesn't bring anything up. I can get the search/share/start/devices/settings task bar to appear by mouse-overing the upper right hand corner, but this doesn't lead to filling the second window.

i'm using Windows 8 Home 64 Bit.
I used AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard to add a NTFS Partition to my USB drive. I want to store large files over 4GB on this partition, while having the rest of my files on the primary partition which is FAT32. The problem is, when I plug my drive into the computer it only shows the primary partition.
Is there any way to get Windows to show both partitions when I plug the device in? I want to be able to store files on both partitions.
After doing some research, I found that one possible way would be to set the USB device as a "Fixed disk". I was unable to figure out how to do this.
The device is a 32GB Silicon Power Blaze Removable Disk with USB 3.0.

I have win 8 pro installed & two HDDs with two partions each , I want to migrate the boot partition to another partition on the second drive .
It would have been easier if i would have just cloned the complete drives but one of the partions on the 2nd drive has data which cannot be deleted .
So I have Drive
1 - Partitions C: ( boot partition ) & D:
Drive 2 - Partitions E: & F:
I want to remove Drive 1 from my PC so i want to copy C: to E: then remove drive 1 & boot from E:
I tried "Easeus todo backup" , did not work, it does not make the copy bootable , to make it bootale the whole drive has to be copied .
I tried making an image of C: using Windows 8 inbuilt backup feature then removed drive 1 , installed Windows 8 on E: then tried restoring the image of C: but i got some error.

I would like to add a partition to a drive having the following partitions:
Number Partition Size 1 Windows RE 499 MB 2 EFI System 300 MB 3 MSR 128 MB 4 C: 216 GB 5 Windows RE 450 MB 6 Samsung Image 19 GB 7 Samsung Recovery 1 GB
This should be easy to do with MiniTool Partition Wizard. In essence, resize "C:", add the partition in the unallocated space, assign the drive letter "D" to the new partition, and format it to NTFS.
You will notice that the drive has two Windows RE partitions. This is because I updated to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 through the Microsoft Store.

Two programs are creating audio outputs such as a game program and iTunes, I desire to send the game program to my headset while remain the iTunes audio to my default playback device, speakers.
I am wondering if there is audio management software. Similar to how if I am on Skype I can communicate through headset and hear them on the headset while the audio on iTunes by default is outputted through the speakers.
I want to play Nether and hear everything through the headset and keep music playing on the speakers so my girlfriend does not hear me play games.

Suddenly, the Acronis program I used to always use for partition copy, won't detect my USB mouse and KB. So, I'm having to do it with Partition Wizard 7. I've never used that to move a system partition, are there any issues doing it that way? The only other program I used to use for this kind of Op is paragon partition manager, which the version I have is not compatible with 8.
I don't like doing it this way, it's very slow compared to using the Acronis program, which seems to fly fast.

I want to create a second primary partition on my first harddisk(disk 0 look at picture)
from the free space there in the extended partition(view screenshot). Now my problem is that whenever I want to create a new partition by right clicking and selecting "New Simple Volume" and selecting the formatting etc, I get another logical drive in the extended partition(look at picture below).
Is is not what I want. I want to move that free space out from the extended partition and add the unallocated 9 MB to it and then create a second primary partition on disk 0.
Note: If its possible I want to do this without using any third party software, IF POSSIBLE.

I have both windows 7 and windows 8 and I would like to have each operating system on a different partition (or even on a separate hard drive if it isn't possible). My windows 7 is 32 bit and I have both 32 and 64 bit of win8. The Windows 8 is a OEM system builder version. Is it possible to have both a 32 bit and a 64 bit on the same drive (partitioned of course) If not, would installing it on a separate hard drive work? My final question is: if I can get win 8 and Win 7 on my computer, could I still use some of the Win 7 software with windows 8 or would I have to download another version? I am using a Fujitsu lifebook T730, corsair ssd as primary drive, and a HHD in my disk drive bay.

I am trying to partition 25 Gigabytes of my hard drive to dual-boot Ubuntu, but when I go to "Shrink Volume" and try to shrink my C: drive, I can only shrink around half a gigabyte. I defragged it and it still won't shrink more than that. It is a 440GB drive and I still have 298GB free.

I'm having a problem connecting my laptop to an external monitor. I've encountered this problem a few times now. My external monitor will just stop working one day, and the only way I've found to fix it is to delete the keys located in the EFI partition.
After the keys are deleted I can reset EFI in the BIOS and the monitor will then be detected by Windows. It's getting to be really annoying having to reset EFI every couple days. So, I decided to see if I could unlock the EFI partition and try to remedy this problem.
So far I managed to set the partition as a basic data partition using SET ID=ebd0a0a2-b9e5-4433-87c0-68b6b72699c7
Next, I assigned it a drive letter. But if I try to explore the contents I get an error saying "I don't have permission".
How to assign the correct permissions??

I recently shrank my had drive and made a data partition. I then did a factory restore and installed windows on the c partition. Everything seemed to go well. I now can not see the D partition. It only shows up in Computer Management. It will not allow me to do anything with it. It is calling it OEM partition. What do I need to do to recover this?

I have a UEFI PC with an SSD and an HDD. I installed Windows 8 and upgraded to Windows 8.1 on the SSD.
For reasons I don't understand, Windows created the system reserved partition on the HDD, not the SSD. Not knowing this, I erased and reformatted the HDD, and now the system will not boot. The Windows 8.1 install is still present on the SDD, but the system reserved partition is absent.
Is there a way to re-create the system reserved partition? I have the Windows 8 install DVD, but the upgrades to 8.1 were made using Microsoft Update and the Microsoft Store.
