I did not have a problem with the same download on a Vista machine. I sent an email to SourceForge. No response yet.
I tried to reinstall Office 2010 Home & Student to Windows 8.
It downloaded OK, but did not complete the installation.
No error code just said "Can't complete installation.
I have Windows 8.1 PRO. I have an Excel spreadsheet in SkyDrive. I can open the spreadsheet on my Windows phone and I can open it if I use a browser to access SkyDrive, but if I use the SkyDrive app tile I get an error that Windows doesn't know how to open Excel files. there is a SkyDrive desktop app and SkyDrive Webapps and a SkyDrive Metro app.So, you can't open Office documents using the SkyDrive app?

View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently I upgraded my wife's Dell All In One from Windows 8 to 8.1 by going to Microsoft Store and selecting the upgrade panel for 8.1. It went smoothly even if slowly. I then tried doing the same thing for my Asus Q200E Laptop.
When I went to the store all I saw were apps for ASUS. How can I get to the real Microsoft Store to get the 8.1 upgrade?
I've just purchased Office 2013 as a stand alone on disk. Is it possible to set Word to open to a blank page by default as in Office 2010, instead of the selection menu of various pre-formatted pages?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got this Gateway this last year, and in the "store" it says to upgrade to 8.1, and I have tried and tried and it says that the download has failed, and cannot install. I have called microsoft support, and was on the phone with them for a couple of hours, and he escalated support to the engineers, they also called, and I allowed them remote access, to come to the conclusion, that my connection is too slow to upgrade to 8.1. So, I went to an open network and tried it, to no avail.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently updated to a HP laptop with windows 8 and downloaded iTunes and transferred my music over which I can open and play, however when I try to go the iTunes store I get "iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I never get any notification and I can't work out the problem, I have uninstalled and re-installed and still have the same issue.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Vaio Pro 13 laptop, running Windows 8.1. If I have a couple of Excel spreadsheets open, close the laptop lid, leave it a minute or so, then re-open the lid, the screen momentarily goes dark, then comes to life again. All open apps are OK with the exception of the Excel sheets. In these, all the cells (& ribbon) are unviewable. The whole worksheet area on the screen is not the normal cells but a screen full of whatever colour I set for the default ribbon colour (some kind of beigy grey...). You can't click on any of the cells, can't see what's in them etc... you CAN close the sheet using the window close x at top right (even though you can't actually see the x) but that's all.
I have set up Windows so that NO ACTION is taken on closing the lid. It seems to be the same problem as described at hibernate - Excel windows invisible when laptop comes back from sleep - Super User but no working solution is available. (The one on this link refers to clicking 'restore' but that doesn't work) Running Excel 2013 (part of Office 2013).
I'm stuck as to what may be causing this... but I guess it should be an Excel problem since other apps (e.g. Word) don't exhibit this problem, but that may be a function of what's open at the time the lid is closed / re-opened?
I was wondering how I could go about removing items from the Open With menu without having to download any programs for it. Here's a screenshot of what I'm talking about. I would like to remove Photos/Paint as I never use those 2 items.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having issues with Office 365... and frankly I would never sign up for a subscription service, but I got a great deal since I am a student on a multi-year subscription. I don't think my issue is subscription related, but is related to the office products.
I am running Windows 8.1 with all of the high priority updates installed, on my Acer Aspire desktop system with a I3 processor, maxed out memory, an SSD for OS/programs, and the original HDD for most data. The system came with Windows 7, and was upgraded to 8 shortly after I bought it, then 8.1 when it became available. I believe that the Windows 8 was loaded from DVD I burned as part of installing the SSD, and was a clean install. I mention this all in case there is some potential unedrlying issue based on the upgrade path.
I am running Avast (paid version) which runs clean when I scan.
The issue is that every office program I have tried fails almost immediately, when I either open a document, or if I select a document in Windows Explorer.
I have uninstalled Office completely then reinstalled.
Then I uninstalled, removed application's directory, cleaned a couple of registry keys manually, then reinstalled.
I have only installed one app that I can recall since the last time the office products worked for me, and that is Quicken Willmaker 2014. I have printed my will, so I will be uninstalling to see if it matters. Since it worked, I don't recall any Office related updates being downloaded.
Whether or not that program removal solves the issue, I plan to download and try CCleaner...
One other possible issue. It has always been flaky for me, but my IE 11 seems even more finicky than usual... This might be unrelated, or in my head, but I thought I would mention it in case it is relevant. I have not noticed any issues with other applications or functions.
Anything obvious that I am missing or that I should add to my to-do list?
after new laptop's trial service of Microsoft Office, I installed Office Professional Plus as a replacement. This new laptop has become slower and slower over time. Pages take very long to load and using any functional on the laptop requires patience.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI can only run apps when NOT connected to the internet. Only pre installed apps becauce I can't download new ones. When connected to the internet I can use a browser, use email and go to the apps store. If I try to run any apps they try to open up and then I get the message "Can't log into Xbox" or something like that. I DON'T HAVE AN XBOX. Why do microsoft assume everyone owns all of their products. I have uninstalled everything mention of Xbox but this get the same problem.
I tried to download an app - three days later it was still trying. I just get a blank square on the home screen with some dots scrolling along the bottom of the box. I have tried various apps and nothing ever downloads.
I downloaded MICROSOFT.WINDOWS.8.1.RTM.X64.ENGLISH.DVD but it wants a product key when I boot from it.
I thought it was supposed to take the product key that is embedded in the BIOS? UEFI is on on BIOS. Am I using the wrong version of Windows 8 DVD?
Toshiba C855-S5350 . I believe it came with Win 8 (regular) x64 . I just want to reinstall the OS.
I am trying to update my system to the new Windows 8. I am already operating on the old one, so the update should be free. My computer will not load the store to allow me to update my software.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a laptop, specifically the Samsung QX410-J01. The Laptop came pre-installed with Windows 7, and I upgraded to Windows 8 on 10/26/2012. I bought the Windows 8 Pro product key, downloaded, and upgraded to Windows 8.
Just last week my laptops Motherboard failed and my computer would no longer start up. The HDD works just fine though so all my files are safe. I decided I wanted to build my own PC and I am simply waiting on my case to arrive.
My question is I want to use Windows 8 on my new PC. The problem I am facing is I do not know how I am going to install Windows on my new machine. I do not want to purchase a new install disk and license since I have already paid for the OS. I can only think of two options and I am not sure if either of them are right.
1. Plug in my laptops hard drive into the new desktop. Run Windows 8.1 on that and use the new Terabyte hard drive I bought as a second hard drive.
2. Somehow put Windows 8.1 on a flash drive and install it from the flash drive onto the new blank hard drive. Then use the product key that I had purchased to activate the OS onto the new hard drive!
I really do not want to have to purchase Windows again, but if I must I guess I will. I believe there has to be a way I doubt after being a loyal Microsoft customer, switching to Windows Phone recently, and buying an Xbox One, that Microsoft will just say "Too bad, buy it again".
It says my internet is too slow. I have no other choices

View 14 Replies View RelatedUpgrading from Windows 8 ProWMC on a Dell Studio 1535 laptop. It ran for a couple of hours and was in the 'a few more things' stage when it decided to fail and roll everything back.
Now that it's back where I started, where do I start looking to try to find out what happened? I'm hoping it put some log files somewhere.
My first guess is that it's third-party drivers, will start by looking at those. There are several things which are old but still were working with Windows 8; I suppose one or more of these might not be compatible?
So my power went out today and my wifi was knocked offline. When I tried to turn on my Sony Vaio Touch it said "unable to access Windows without a Internet connection". I have the Home Office 365 program. I had to eventually wait for my wifi to turn on before I could create a MS Word document. This can't be right.
