Installed Office Professional Plus - Laptop Has Become Slower?
Mar 26, 2014
after new laptop's trial service of Microsoft Office, I installed Office Professional Plus as a replacement. This new laptop has become slower and slower over time. Pages take very long to load and using any functional on the laptop requires patience.
Having issues with my installation. I've tried man methods but an Error always occurs. It says something about my invalidity to install due to previous trial versions of microsoft office is already installed. The thing is, i have no office in my rig yet. I've tried installing trial versions then uninstalled it, but still the same problem occurs.

I installed Office 365 about a month ago and used it several times. Today I went to use Word and it is not there. It is not in the programs list in the uninstall programs. Then I started looking for the other programs in the suite and the only one that is there although not in the uninstall programs is excel which I attached to the task bar, but I can use the spreadsheets.
3 days ago I installed Lightroom 5 and it also has dissapeared. My husband has had the same problems with office.
I have an original version of windows 8 in my acer laptop and I want to install Microsoft Office 2013 and activate it with "KMSnano v26" or "Windows 8 and Office 2013 Permanent Activator Ultimate v14.0". Can it affect my Windows's version.
Download of Open Office 4.0.0 from SourceForge failed on Win 8 ASUS laptop.
Error Message:
C:UsersSusanDownloadsApache_OpenOffice_4.0.0_Win_x86_install_en-US.exe.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read. Try again later, or contact the server administrator.
I did not have a problem with the same download on a Vista machine. I sent an email to SourceForge. No response yet.
I installed Windows 8 x32 on my laptop. It has 3 GB RAM and the processor is x64-based. I don't use my laptop for much other than e-mail, Facebook, YouTube. Here are my questions:
Is there any point to switch from x32 to x64?
Is there any down side? I read somewhere that I won't be able to run 16-bit applications (I don't even know if they still exist)?
Do I need to do a clean install, or can I use the Upgrade install option rather than the Custom (advanced) install option?
I thought I would look at creating/using my own media.
I have been using VMs for testing these, so much better than playing with someone's PC
I have ISOs for both 8.0 and 8.1 which I downloaded using Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 ISO - Download or Create. The licence key I used for the download was my legitimate one that I purchased from Microsoft (so it wasn't OEM), it is actually an upgrade key from Windows 7 for Win 8 Pro. I can install these ISOs no problem but they always install the Pro version and I never get an option for installing Home.
I tried putting a ei.cfg file in the sources directory containing [EditionID] [Channel] Retail [VL] 0
But this just allows me to install without the key. I tried putting both "Core" and "Home" in as an EditionID but the install process fails saying "The product key entered does no match any of the Windows images available for installation. Enter a different product key"
If I try using the downloaded iso without the ei.cfg file but instead use the generic key for Home I get the same message.
So I'm pretty sure the downloads I got from MS just contain Pro. Is this right or is there a special way of making Home available? Based upon what I have seen in the forums I would also probably need "Home Single Language" to be available as well (if possible).
In case it makes any difference the ISOs I have always set their language to English (United Kingdom) during the install.
Today I instal win 8 pro on my alienware M17 R3, not clean instal just update since i buy the serial online from Microsoft store when installing win i keep all my setting and file and its look everything running great. after a few hours my laptop start to freeze especially after booting ( going to win 8 login ) and sometime freeze to when i play some game or doing my work ( adobe work ) when i check my system on device manager its show my graphic card ( amd radeon hd 6900M Series ) need to update driver or reinstall again, yes i do the work i download and reinstall the driver from much source and some from the AMD site too,, but the freeze and error still happens even the drivers already update on device manager
My sony vaio laptop model is VPCEH26EN.I recently installed windows 8 pro 64 Bit.I formatted whole hard disk and installed windows 8.I had a oem recovery partition when i bought this laptop with windows 7 preinstalled. By this hard disk partition, I used to recover the whole windows to its factory condition by using F10 key. The recovery hard-disk partition was of only 11Gb.it contains the whole windows with some software already installed . But now i have no recovery partition now. How to create recovery partition with in 12GB for future purpose. The windows default system image creation usually taking 40 gb space. So its of no use. How to create a recovery partition which can be used to recover windows to its factory condition using F10 key in case of any error in future?
Many of my live tiles (Weather, Fitness, Music, Games) don't show anything aside from their logos. They are turned on. I've probably quadruple checked them at this point. For troubleshooting, I have:
Verified that those tiles are turned on. Verified that the time service is running. Verified that all the apps and/or their licenses are synced. Uninstalled/reinstalled the apps. Removed McAfee (replaced it with Avast free). Run the UI diagnostic/repair tool that you guys have in one of the long stickied threads. Verified that they're set to animate via appearance and performance settings.
It looks like the tiles are receiving data, as the Weather app currently has a little 'i' icon in the bottom right hand corner, and there is a weather alert in my area. It's just that there's no temperature/background. It's just the blue tile with white sun. Very odd.
Refreshing this computer is not an option, as I use it for work as well as general computing use.
I dual boot with win 7 and win 8. I have faster download speed when i'm in win 7 than when i'm in win 8. Obviously my router wireless settings is the same for both OS. I Googled this and it seems that it's a problem for a lot of users. If it's a question of updating drivers, my laptop is an Acer and i checked their website and they only have drivers for win 7. Could i change win 8 drivers with the win 7 one? Would that work? Are there settings in win 8 that i should check? I have a 6mbps connection and when i check my connection speed at Speedtest.Net i get about 5.25 mbps when i'm in win 7, but i get about 1.65 mbps when i'm in win 8. What is causing such a big difference in speed?
I just built a new system around the AMD FX 9590 on an Asus MB with 32GB of RAM. I excitedly decided to run a benchmark (in this case, Novabench) on the new system once I got all my other programs loaded. Imagine my shock and dismay when my "super system" posted HALF the total score of my 4-year old Phenom! I opened Task Manager, focusing on the CPU, and ran the tests again. It never budged from 1.5GHz. I understand it running at a lower frequency since when not under load, but in this case, it should have jumped up to the full 4.7GHz for the tests. And strangely, my Samsung SSD only recorded 41MB/s, where as the same SSD in my older system registered something like 150MB/s.
i had i wanted to listen to some music using laptop as a bluetooth headset for mobile.it worked but i noticed that internet speed using wifi gone slower
I just installed a new wireless ac adapter and I do get a 1.3Gbps connection to my router. However when I test this connection by transferring some large files I get about 350Mbps for sending and 600 Mbps for receiving. When I transfer the same files with a 1Gbps wired connection I get about 970Mbps for sending (I think that includes some caching) and 760 Mbps for receiving.
Are there some options in Windows 8.1 Pro that can be set to get better wireless performance?
Lately my computer has been distorting sounds and been going slower than it used to. When I restart the computer, the amount of distortions/small sizzling sounds is at a minimum, but it increases as I continue to use the computer. I googled how to fix this and one of the suggestions was to run a system file checker. The result of the scan was that I have some corrupted files that the computer could not remove. I also go a sfcdetails.txt file that showed all the information in the scan. How to find the corrupted files/what I should do to remove the files. I have attached the sfcdetails.txt file and a screen shot of the SFC results right from the command prompt.
My girlfriend has recently got a new laptop and unfortunately she doesn't like it, despite me loving Windows 8.1.
She would like to try Windows 8 but is going back to Uni soon so would like Windows 7 as a back-up dual booted.
I've shrunk the partition and created a simple partition for Windows 7 but really unsure about Installing Windows 7 on a Windows 8 Laptop, it's an ASUS X550CA-XX417H. I've checked power shell with SecureBootUEFI and result is True.
I reset my pc to factory conditions using the Samsung recover tool, the pc seems slower fps wise in games for example. Was faster before i reset the pc. Model Samsung 3505VC. I believe it might be to do with my graphics card as it is rated only 4.9 now on windows rating and was 5.7 before.
I'm using Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit. If I go to Control Panel/Windows Update/View Update History KB2919442 is shown as installed successfully on the 12 March 2014 "BUT" if I go to Control Panel/Windows Update/Installed Updates there is no KB2919442 listed.
If I download KB2919442 directly from Microsoft and try to install it manually it says "This update is not applicable to your computer"
I'm obviously having no success trying to install KB2919355 as it never shows as available in Windows Update and if I download it manually from Microsoft and try installing manually I get the same error message "This update is not applicable to your computer"
I'm putting together a laptop with a Celeron 1.1ghz. I have 3GB memory, with option to go up to 8GB. I have an identicle laptop with win7x64 and 8 gb ram with the 1.5 Celeron. I haven't played with the new 8.1 to know for sure but it does seem a bit slower, think its probably lack of ram?
I have a MSI GS70 which I recently bought about two months ago. I have updated to windows 8.1. Whenever I try to open a document from USB drive that has the format associated with a microsoft office application I get a BSOD. I ran an SFC scan, and it came back clean. I can open up the files when I copy them over but when it comes to opening it from the USB I get the BSOD.
Brand new hp laptop came with windows 7 installed but also windows 8 disc. I upgraded to windows 8 and then to 8.1. No problems. I then tried to install Office Home & Business 2013, The following then happens----
1. I enter product code no problem
2. I select country united kingdom, no problem
3. Option to verify language is greyed out so i proceed to 4 below
4. The continue button is green, i go to click on this and as soon as the mouse hovers over it
The button changes to grey before i click on it.when i do click on the continue button it still stays grey and nothing happens. Move mouse away button goes back to grey.
So my power went out today and my wifi was knocked offline. When I tried to turn on my Sony Vaio Touch it said "unable to access Windows without a Internet connection". I have the Home Office 365 program. I had to eventually wait for my wifi to turn on before I could create a MS Word document. This can't be right.
