May 8, 2012Windows 8 itself is updating fine using Windows Update. However, it doesn't provide updates for Office and other MS products. Where it says in the WU dialog box "You receive updates for:" it indicates "Windows Only." Going into Windows Update settings does not offer the "Microsoft Update" option that is available in windows 7. I know from seeing others' screen shots in this forum that updating for other Microsoft products is not disabled in Windows 8. How do I update Office (I know there are new sucurity updates for Office that were released today and I'd like to have them!)?

Jun 26, 2014Today I noticed that I could not access the Internet on my Toshiba laptop. It is not the computer I use everyday, so I did not need to get on the 'Net. The last thing I remember doing was Using the Shutdown and install updates command.
To remedy I had to use a Restore point. I used the one for May before the updates. Now there is no problem.
I use Chrome exclusively.

Apr 6, 2014I have Office Pro 2010 on my 32bit XP Pro desktop. If possible, I'd like to uninstall Offc Pro and install it on my laptop that is running Win 8.1. Can this be done?
My Office Pro is a valid download with key but I only downloaded the 32 bit version and have changed the key one time as the result of a support call to MS soon after installing it on my XP machine.

Nov 5, 2012I have a HP Pavilion dv7 running Windows 7 64-bit and Office 2010 Starter. There is a known issue that when you attempt to run the Windows 8 upgrade Assistant, it displays Office 2010 Starter as "Not Compatible". In order to correct this, you need to install an update (KB2553141). The problem is that even with the update installed, the upgrade assistant still points the Office 2010 as not compatible.

Mar 28, 2014I was trying to record a macro in Office 2010 on my machine with Windows 8.1. I had my PERSONAL.XLSB file open at the time. I closed that file and when I when to record the macro to it the file was no longer listed. I tried to create a new file but I got an error message "Can not find the Start folder" and that was that. Where is the heck is the start folder. I believe it does not exist and 8.1 has issues with Office 2010. I had not luck with an An Access, so I though I'd try here.

Aug 26, 2013Downloaded Office 2010 (had a disc but without driver wouldn't play). Used the key that came with the disc. Downloaded ok. I can find it in the apps, I can even have it open but when I try to open a Word file I receive in an email for example I get the screen that asks me to either buy it or if I already have it, to enter the key. Enter the key and it says it's not valid, but is the key I used to download.

Now everytime I try to start a programm I get an error C:Programm Files..... - you don't have enough rights ....
I am running as admin user but the only way to start the programm is right click and "run as admin"
What's going on and how can I change that. Did I loose admin rights somehow or somewhere
Cursor Keeps Freezing And Office 2010 Installation Errors
Jan 1, 2013Just bought an Acer S3 i3. Set up has taken me over 6 hours. 1st - major problems getting internet access - but having removed McAfee all seems ok.
I have two major problems:
1. Cursor will freeze ever few minutes causing the machine to hang. Only solution is to hold down power and restart.
2. Tried installing office 2010. Have downloaded set up file and inserted product key. Once installation completes and I try to launch a program I get an error message - c:Program Files (x86)Microsoft OfficeOffice14wwlib.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0x000012f.

Aug 27, 2014I just recently bought asus notebook x550C i3 processor,had been working fine for a week. Then lost connection to Internet went to update and restart as updates were needing to be done. After appearing to complete the updates, it then said failure configuring updates, reverting changes do not turn off. It has now been on this screen for 3 hours. I have tried shutting down but when re opens it lands back on same page, with the loop going round and round. I have tried f9, as another forum said that should get me to menu to restore factory settings but that does not work, neither does windows key

Jan 20, 2014I got a message on my new laptop that Windows was updating and would take 2 days. This was on Friday.
I went back to it yesterday (Sunday), and it says it will restart today.
I've been periodically checking it and I'm still getting the same message.
Is this normal? Can I override it somehow and get into my laptop??

Nov 7, 2013sometimes when testing new systems I have to install Office 2010 from scratch (I have a VL enterprise version so activation isn't an issue).
However Windows update then every time prompts for about 1.5GB of updates and fixed.
How to "slipstream" these into my office install disk - or at least store these updates manually so I don't have to keep downloading the same stuff over and over again.

Sep 15, 2014I am attempting to repair a Dell Inspiron 5520 Laptop for a friend of mine.
He's been having issues updating it for sometime and when he called me he was having a "Windows update hasn't been able to check for new updates for 30 days" pop-up appearing every few seconds that was rendering the laptop almost unusable.
I managed to stop that by disabling automatic updates. When I attempted a manual update I got the message :
Windows could not search for new updates: Error Found Code 80070BC9
Other times it would say it needed to be restarted and would go into a restart loop that was generally
Restart one - no message
Restart two - configuring updates - 33%, 67%, 100%
Restart three - failed to configure updates - reverting - restarting
Then would go to the normal login screen
I tried SFC /Scannow which seemed to work and say a restart is needed to implement changes but then fails on restart
DISM didn't work when attempting to run it from the machine but got to 100% when I ran it from my own Windows 8 install disk but then failed and needed a restart to undo the changes.
I also tried a repair and a restore of the current Windows installation but got : Error Code: 80070490 both times
The laptop didn't come with an install disk or serial so it seems restoring it from external media may be out of the question?

I have 1 x Laptop, plus 1 x Desktop that I need to update with the latest MS update releases.
That means I will need to download & update on each machine. Both are Windows 8.1 64-bit units, and they have both had all previous updates installed.
Given that my Internet connection is very slow, and "out of bundle" data usage is VERY expensive here in South Africa, is there a way I can download the update once, save it to a USB drive, and use that to update both machines?
Once the update file is on the USB drive, how to install the update file on each machine? e.g. can I just copy the file to each machine, and then run/execute the files?

Whenever I try to open a document from USB drive that has the format associated with a microsoft office application I get a BSOD. I ran an SFC scan, and it came back clean. I can open up the files when I copy them over but when it comes to opening it from the USB I get the BSOD.

Dec 21, 2013I upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate x86 to Windows 8 Pro with Media Center x64 5 months ago.
I installed Office 2013 Pro Plus 4 months ago, last 2 weeks I tried to uninstall it (for some bugs) but it didn't fully uninstall because of "Printer Spooler" service was not available (It was an issue but I resolved it last week). So I tried to uninstall but I didn't find Office 2013 in Add/Remove Programs, I never-minded and tried to install Office today, it was 99% finished but it rolls back and give me an error "Microsoft Professional Plus encountered an error during setup" and I click "Finished" then the setup says "Microsoft Bootstrapper has stopped working" so I read in the internet and people says that some registry keys is still there so I tried the Office 2013 Uninstall Fix-It program where it is here but it doesn't find anything! So I found a video on how to uninstall Office 2010 manually, and I used it on Office Pro Plus 2013 but nothing! I opened Event Viewer and found the Office 2013 log:

Nov 1, 2013Office 2013 will not install on my computer. It starts going and at some point it just says there's an error and quits. It doesn't give me an error number or anything, it just stops. Here's a little context though:
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13, and overall I've been very satisfied with the computer. However, it only came with a 128 GB SSD hard drive, so I decided to add another 128 GB SSD in the second hard drive slot. I got it in the computer and it works perfectly as far as I can tell.The only other thing I changed on my computer was to move the music library to the new hard drive. After adding the hard drive, I tried to use office some time later and it wouldn't work. I tried repairing it with the install disk, and it didn't work. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and it didn't work. It always just stops at some point as I said above. Is there a reason adding a hard drive or moving a library would effect Office?
