Apps / Software :: Unable To Download New Apps Or Run Existing Ones?

I can only run apps when NOT connected to the internet. Only pre installed apps becauce I can't download new ones. When connected to the internet I can use a browser, use email and go to the apps store. If I try to run any apps they try to open up and then I get the message "Can't log into Xbox" or something like that. I DON'T HAVE AN XBOX. Why do microsoft assume everyone owns all of their products. I have uninstalled everything mention of Xbox but this get the same problem.
I tried to download an app - three days later it was still trying. I just get a blank square on the home screen with some dots scrolling along the bottom of the box. I have tried various apps and nothing ever downloads.

I tried downloading various apps from the store, but the message I get was I can't install this app.For example, I tried to install PDF Reader 8, and I get error code 0x80070032. Does the error code reveal what the problem is? I am running Windows 8, not Windows 8.1, on the Lenovo IdeaPad.

When I try to download Metro apps from Windows Store, I receive an error message saying "Something happened and this app couldn't be installed. Please try again later. Error code: 0x80010108".
I Googled it and tried to reset Windows Store cache by wsreset.exe but it didn't work. It occurs to every app I try to install.

Is it possible to download free apps from Windows Store directly (without going through "Windows Store" icon/apps in Windows 8.1? I'm having a problem with Windows Store in my OS, whenever I try it, it just said no network connection, but I can surf no problem using FF/Skype etc. If I can go directly to Windows Store website and download the apps directly from there, it'll be awesome, but everytime I tried, it just goes back to my OS Windows Store.

I have a new Asus X102BA it has modest performance so as I have a spare OCZ 120GB ssd I thought I would see if it could be improved. I have a dell venue pro. I rented a movie on the pre-installed video app (xbox). I opted to download the movie so I can watch it remotely. I got a download error because of low disc space. The c drive is low on memory but I have a completely empty microsd card with more then enough room for the movie. How can I make the app download onto the msd card instead of the main drive? The app itself has no such option in the settings. I've tried to change the pathway but the app still seems to want to download the the c drive first.

When I open a pdf file, my files are getting opened as a tiff file. This is making it difficult to cut and paste. This started happening to my computer after the Windows 8.1 download. I tried to uninstall 8.1 but created even more problems. Got everything back to normal, but the tiff files opening.

Download of Open Office 4.0.0 from SourceForge failed on Win 8 ASUS laptop.
Error Message:
C:UsersSusanDownloadsApache_OpenOffice_4.0.0_Win_x86_install_en-US.exe.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read. Try again later, or contact the server administrator.
I did not have a problem with the same download on a Vista machine. I sent an email to SourceForge. No response yet.

I do prefer a local account but when i try to install new apps from app store Windows 8.1 asks me to switch to a microsoft account.

I have an online course where the audio/video files are in itune store, but everytime I click on the link, it said itmss protocol is not registered in Windows, so the only solution seems to download/install iTunes for Windows. I'm trying to use VLC for all my audio/video files, so if I can avoid installing iTunes and still be able to download and watch the course video/audio, would be ideal.
Here are my questions:
- how can I visit itune store and check which free video/audio files are available to download. The ideal would be just click on the link, but everytime I tried that, the FF responded that does not know how to handle it.
- what's the format used by apple for audio/video files in itune store?
- supposed that I could download the video/audio files from itune store, is it possible to play with VLC?

In some apps like facebook, twitter and other many i'm unable to scroll but at the same time i'm able to scroll in windows store app and other app like ESPNcricinfo.
I'm able to scroll through my touchpad then why I'm not able to scroll in one of the prominent apps as a substitute for scrolling. I've to use keyboard arrow keys which is very tedious and laborious.

I'm trying to uninstall Acronis Disk Director 11 Home but it will not uninstall.
I go to add/remove programs, select it in the list and click uninstall. That window comes up and says please wait while Windows configures etc. etc. then it just disappears and nothing happens. The program doesn't uninstall.
I've never had this problem with any other software before...what gives? How can I get Windows to uninstall it? Should I use something like this? [Solved]Acronis Disk Director 11 Home Build 11.0.2121 Completely Uninstalled or is that spyware/viruses/unnecessary?

I am having a problem where any msi (and some .exe's) I have try to run to install a program have trouble accessing the AppData folder.
This is a recent install of Windows 8.1 (on a fresh drive) and then moved the user folder (which I think could be causing the issue). I moved the user folder using these steps User Folders - Change Default Location . I have proper access to the folder and everything. The most recent failure for me was Skype, after trying to launch the app which (seemingly) comes with Windows 8, I decided to install it myself. When I did, that box came up.
TL : DR - Programs will not install and it seems to revolve around my AppData folder.

I click on them but they won't launch. A blank grey screen appears after trying to launch them. Words near the bottom of tile say "Microsoft.WindowsLive.Mail", "Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar" and "Microsoft.WindowsLive.People".

I just reinstalled my windows 8.1 pro because of usb driver corruption that occurred due to windows update driver update.
So i basically installed all my drivers using DRP(Driver Pack Solution) and all went well.
Then I wanted to install Asus Utilities like EZupdate,Aisuite,usb charger but none of their setup works .
Whenever I click on setup it starts some asus com services but after that nothing happens no setup screen is popping up it just quits.
And I am having problem only installing Asus Software other software are installing fine.
My pc specs are as follows:
1)Intel 4670 K
2)Asus Sabertooth Z87
3)12 GB DDR 3 ram
4)Windows 8.1 Pro X64
I already tried enabling and disabling UAC and smart-screen but that didn't affect the setup.exe.
I tried running all exe as admin that also didn't work.
There is no unblock button for the setup so it should work as normal.
I even re-downloaded the asus tools from their website still the setup wont launch.
I am using Bit-Defender Total security but i even paused protection and tried still the asussetup.exe nothing happens when i click it except starting some Asus service in task manager.
I tried some solution from asus forums running AI suite cleaner in safemode and re-try installation but still nothing happens when i click on asussetup.exe.

installing apps on my laptop running window 8.1. I select install the app I want. The store downloads it and "installs" it. The files are hidden in the program files however in the start menu the app icon is just a box. When i click on it, it says that there is a problem and it cannot be opened. the store would repair the install. I have tried that but no luck. No apps seems to be working that I download and i cant delete them because there is no such option in the start menu. And then manually deleting the files is also impossible because windows blocks it even when i have admin rights.

I have had a friend send me the manual for my Dell xps 8300 desktop because I was unable to download it. I saved it. For me it just says page cannot be viewed. I tried 3 browsers.I am having the same trouble with my Dell Inspiron, N5010, R15.
I get the same error message. I am more concerned about WHY I cannot download when others can.I have looked over the Win firewall for Win 8.1 but can't see any issue.I have a Comcast router set to normal security.
Could my download feature be corrupted?I ran sfc + it is ok and Chkdsk says it does not need running. I have emptied caches etc.I had driver issues recently and a forum tech told me to run Driver Booster. Everything except the inability to download this Inspiron manual has worked much better.

I've been trying to download windows update on a fresh install of windows 8 pro with different dvds like Windows 8 Pro With media center & without media center{With & without activating it}. But every time I tried downloading it I get "Code 8024402F Windows update ran into a problem". I am able to login to my computer using my Microsoft account but if I try logging into the Windows Store, installing any new apps or updating any of them I get random error codes that I have Googled and they don't lead to anything. I thought it might be related to security software (I use Norton Internet Security) so I tried disabling it and it didn't do anything. I have no viruses or any other kind of malware so why this is happening. I have updated my laptop to Windows 8.1 if that makes any difference.

I am unable to open any apps but the store and when I tried to uninstall and reinstall some apps I was met by an 0x80070002 error. It's not serious because I can use the apps on other users, but it would still be nice to have it fixed. I really don't feel like resetting my system.
