In some apps like facebook, twitter and other many i'm unable to scroll but at the same time i'm able to scroll in windows store app and other app like ESPNcricinfo.
I'm able to scroll through my touchpad then why I'm not able to scroll in one of the prominent apps as a substitute for scrolling. I've to use keyboard arrow keys which is very tedious and laborious.
Is there a way to activate or create a two fingers scroll on desktop apps, like for a PDF-Editing Software?Because I want to edit a PDF document and when I want to scroll I have to close the edit modus in the Software first.On an Ipad there is this feature. You can edit a PDF file and if you want to scroll, you have to use two fingers.
Is there an app to create this multitouch gesture or to activate it on windows 8?

I don't want to discuss the specifics why but basically I don't want to use my left hand at all sometimes during certain web browsing sessions.
How do I browse through internet web browser tabs with just right hand mouse? Without having to click on each tab. I just want to use either a button, scroll wheel, or an extension/add on that will make scrolling through tabs only right handed.
Can keep the scroll bar from vanishing , it is annoying when I am reading something and have to move the mouse to make the bar appear again.

i have a "microsoft wireless mouse 2000" and my pc is running win 8 pro. most of the times after i resume from hibernation the scroll speed is insane! moving the scroll wheel 1mm causes for example the browser to scroll over one page! in scroll settings it shows "roll wheel one click to scroll 3 lines", no matter what i set this to it still scrolls excesivly.. i need a full system reboot to regain control over scroll speed. this was never an issue with win7.

The start screen will only scroll if I left-click and drag the bar at the bottom. clicking the arrows won't work and neither will using my arrow keys to go from app to app (once it hits the side of the screen it goes out of view but the screen doesn't pan to follow it). I am also unable to click the minimize button to see the apps so that i can create column headers for my tile collections. I installed Windows 8 on my laptop a couple of weeks ago and don't have this issue.

When connected to the internet I can use a browser, use email and go to the apps store. If I try to run any apps they try to open up and then I get the message "Can't log into Xbox" or something like that. I DON'T HAVE AN XBOX. Why do microsoft assume everyone owns all of their products. I have uninstalled everything mention of Xbox but this get the same problem.
I tried to download an app - three days later it was still trying. I just get a blank square on the home screen with some dots scrolling along the bottom of the box. I have tried various apps and nothing ever downloads.
My menu doesn't come up. It doesn't come up when I press the Windows button in the bottom left corner either. It only comes up when I press the Windows button on the keyboard.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell laptop Inspiron 15 3531. When I went to configure the toucpad, the 'Edge Scroll & Zoom' tab is missing. I want to scroll vertically (up and down) on the edge of the pad.
I've tried uninstalling the current touchpad driver(from Device Manager) and then installing the latest version. But it didn't work.
I recently switched from OE to WLM because I purchased a new laptop (Win 8.1). I incorrectly assumed, since OE is about 8 years old, WLM would be far more advanced in every aspect.
A huge annoyance is: whenever I need to find a folder in Storage Folders, instead of keying the first letter of the folder I seek, as with OE, I must scroll down to find it. To make matters worse; all of the Storage Folders are expanded to reveal the sub folders by default. So, as I scroll down, each time, I must manually collapse each expanded folder.
Any way to cause WLM Storage Folders to behave like OE.
I bought the Asus Zenbook Touch (ux31a-bhi5t11) yesterday, and the 2 finger scrolling worked fine at first, but a couple hours later it just stopped working. I can scroll using the touch screen, but not the touch pad now. It's brand new, and I haven't touched any of the settings, so I don't know why it would just quit.

I thought it might be related to security software (I use Norton Internet Security) so I tried disabling it and it didn't do anything. I have no viruses or any other kind of malware so why this is happening. I have updated my laptop to Windows 8.1 if that makes any difference.

I can find it in the apps, I can even have it open but when I try to open a Word file I receive in an email for example I get the screen that asks me to either buy it or if I already have it, to enter the key. Enter the key and it says it's not valid, but is the key I used to download.

I go to add/remove programs, select it in the list and click uninstall. That window comes up and says please wait while Windows configures etc. etc. then it just disappears and nothing happens. The program doesn't uninstall.

I am having a problem where any msi (and some .exe's) I have try to run to install a program have trouble accessing the AppData folder.
This is a recent install of Windows 8.1 (on a fresh drive) and then moved the user folder (which I think could be causing the issue). I moved the user folder using these steps User Folders - Change Default Location . I have proper access to the folder and everything. The most recent failure for me was Skype, after trying to launch the app which (seemingly) comes with Windows 8, I decided to install it myself. When I did, that box came up.
TL : DR - Programs will not install and it seems to revolve around my AppData folder.
I click on them but they won't launch. A blank grey screen appears after trying to launch them. Words near the bottom of tile say "Microsoft.WindowsLive.Mail", "Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar" and "Microsoft.WindowsLive.People".
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just reinstalled my windows 8.1 pro because of usb driver corruption that occurred due to windows update driver update.
So i basically installed all my drivers using DRP(Driver Pack Solution) and all went well.
Then I wanted to install Asus Utilities like EZupdate,Aisuite,usb charger but none of their setup works .
Whenever I click on setup it starts some asus com services but after that nothing happens no setup screen is popping up it just quits.
And I am having problem only installing Asus Software other software are installing fine.
My pc specs are as follows:
1)Intel 4670 K
2)Asus Sabertooth Z87
3)12 GB DDR 3 ram
4)Windows 8.1 Pro X64
I already tried enabling and disabling UAC and smart-screen but that didn't affect the setup.exe.
I tried running all exe as admin that also didn't work.
There is no unblock button for the setup so it should work as normal.
I even re-downloaded the asus tools from their website still the setup wont launch.
I am using Bit-Defender Total security but i even paused protection and tried still the asussetup.exe nothing happens when i click it except starting some Asus service in task manager.
I tried some solution from asus forums running AI suite cleaner in safemode and re-try installation but still nothing happens when i click on asussetup.exe.
installing apps on my laptop running window 8.1. I select install the app I want. The store downloads it and "installs" it. The files are hidden in the program files however in the start menu the app icon is just a box. When i click on it, it says that there is a problem and it cannot be opened. the store would repair the install. I have tried that but no luck. No apps seems to be working that I download and i cant delete them because there is no such option in the start menu. And then manually deleting the files is also impossible because windows blocks it even when i have admin rights.

View 6 Replies View RelatedOn my old Win 7 and Win Vista and Win XP laptops I've had no problems opening and viewing my old MPEG-2 video files. My new laptop running Win 8.1 will not allow me to view them.
Windows Media Player will only recognize them as audio files - not video - though the sound will play. Real Player is the same - the application will open and begin playing a file but only as audio file. I've tried the built in Toshiba media player and it shows errors and won't open the files at all.
Again - these are conforming MPEG-2 NTSC 760X480 video file (old analog home movies) captured using an ATI video card dongle to connect to my video source and an old version of capture application ULead Video Studio. These files conform in every way to MPEG-2 standard/format and will run on all of our PC EXCEPT the new one running Win 8.
I bought and loaded a video editing application from Corel and it will open and play these files perfectly so why won't Win Media Player and Real Player recognize them when running behind Windows 8?
Clean install, right from the beginning I see on a daily basis errors stating something like the zune music and video apps cannot be updated, it won't update from store either, I'm just guessing where this isn't released to the public yet.
