My problem is that any time I close my laptop's lid, or sometimes when I put try to suspend it, the computer crashes. It initially stays on, and the leds are blinking, than they stop blinking, and it turns completly off. When I turn it on again it tells me that blue screen was the problem.
I'm worried since I bought it last year, it's a Toshiba Satellite M645, Intel Core I5 M480, 4Gb ram, Windows 7 64 bits.
My laptop is very slow to respond, like about 5 minutes, after being hibernated for a long time. If it is just put to 'Sleep' then it is almost instant likewise if it is suspended (hibernated) for less than a day or so then again it is instant once the Unlock screen appears.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've posted about this issue several times and still have not found a solution unfortunately. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit installed on my machine and I experience freezing and BSOD errors very frequently. The freezing occurs way more often than the BSOD does (by the way I would include a mini dump file, but there are no recent ones). The freezing is what's driving me mad as it happens all the time.
Just to rule out a few things, here is a brief list of solutions I've tried:
1. Updated all my drivers first and foremost.
2. Changed my power options from balanced to high performance.
3. Installed ALL motherboard drivers (chipsets, etc.) and flashed my BIOS to the most current update as a person on this forum told me to do so.
Also, the freezing usually seems to occur during some kind of activity involving the internet such as watching a video, playing a game, browsing a web page. It's pretty random actually, sometimes it will just freeze at the desktop. Recently it's been freezing when the computer has gone idle (when the screen goes black) after a while.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi have a problem that i really need fixed asap. i recently had surgery and am currently in alot of pain and not that mobile. i use my WMC via XboX to help me deal with all of it. however it now freezes every time i go into the video section. the music, movie and everyother section works fine. on the PC it freezes immediately and on the xbox it gives you about 10 seconds before freezeing. done the steps here: [URL] the problem persists on a clean boot.

Personally, ever since 7, I pretty much always simply leave my computer in sleep mode. Wakeups are so quick, and the memory management is so good that I rarely feel the need to actually shut down my computer.
well the USB selective suspend option I have set to "never" and it dont care, it turns off the drive all the time
I can sit there and the drive will spin up and then turn off every 30-45 min, it spins up and then spins down pretty fast as if it was just work up by me and then it is going back to sleep - I cant figure out what on my computer is waking it up but I dont care I dont want it to even go to sleep in the first place

I just installed the beta on a notebook. Everything works fine except for one thing. If my notebook wakes from suspend the screen comes up to log-in but within seconds the screen turns black and my notebook reboots and comes back with an error (start in save mode or start.

I just built a new computer and had it running stable for several days with all hardware except the graphics card and a new monitor. After plugging the new video card, I believe the system remained stable, but am not 100% confident since it only survived overnight. After plugging the new monitor (HP z2740w) and connecting via USB crashes started occurring when resuming from sleep.
I tried uninstalling the graphics drivers and the problem seems to have stopped for now, so I'm reinstalling to see if anything changes.
Windows 7 Pro 64 OEM (System Builder) Everything in the machine is brand new except the hard drives. Installation age is a few days.
I just upgraded my HTPC and so built my first Windows 7 PC (never had a need to upgrade from XP, believe it or not). So far I am quite impressed but I am having a number of issues with power management. I'd love some help tying all these together so I'll start at the beginning.I've had the machine running for two weeks now. It's an Intel DH77DF mobo, all the newest drivers on it, fresh from Intel's site. At first I noticed the keyboard would become unresponsive after a while -- not even the lights for caps/num lock would turn on (MS Wired Keyboard 600). So I figured it was shutting off the USB ports and so I went into Device Manager and hit the properties for all USB ports and unchecked allowing Windows to shut them off to save power. I then went to power management and turned it on to maximum performance.
Next morning, I wake up and go to hit the PC to put on some music and the keyboard is unresponsive again. (Aside: I have two keyboards connected, the MS one mentioned earlier and a Logitech diNovo Mini for HTPC stuff. There's also an old MS wired mouse attached (which has never lost power, oddly enough).) I restart to bring the keyboard back around -- because unplugging it and putting it in any USB port won't bring it back -- and when I restart, it takes FOREVER. I'm talking 15-20 minutes (when boot after POST takes like 30 seconds). The restart eventually craps out to a BSOD: power driver state failure, error code 0x9F.So I researched that error and most of the advice seems to come to "run sfc scannow" (done, more than once, no issues) and "update your drivers" (already done). I looked in the event viewer for evidence of that crash but don't think I found anything.
I found a page on a registry entry you can make for disabling selective suspend in USB completely, and I've done that, and it says it's disabled under the advanced settings in power management, but, I dunno...my peripherals still die. I noticed something during this morning's restart. I had my work laptop on and it's a Mac, and Finder always shows the devices on the network. During the long shutdown that goes to bluescreen, the HTPC is not on the network before restart, comes on to to the network five minutes or so into the long shutdown, hangs out on the network for a few minutes, disappears, and then BSOD about a minute after that. It's not just USB shutting down, I guess (if I had a SATA device I'd test that too).
Is it possible to command line disable disable USB selective suspend setting? or even regedit it?

I find that after leaving my box in suspend overnight, it is very sluggish to resume. But after being online for the first 10 mins the network goes down & I have to run network diagnostics to fix. The network card gets reset each time with a host not found fault. I am using a Edimax Wireless 802.11 b/g/n 32-bit PCI Adaptor (EW-7722In.). I am using the basic Windows driver as uninstalled the Edimax utility due to above fault. This may be two separate problems, (tho it would be nice to solve both.) I am carrying out a dsk chk as advised on these forums for slow resume from suspend/sleep.

This is my problem: when my desktop enter in suspend mode, I'm not able to access my files and libraries from my notebook.Is it possible to keep a network always enabled even in suspend mode or Windows never can enter in suspend mode if I want to be able to access my network and homegroup? I will prefer to have an option to keep network enabled and accessible but with Windows in suspend mode to save energy, but if that is not possible, ok too.

Multiple times when ive put my laptop into sleep mode it has crashed when I turn it back on. It does not do it every time, just majority. After I have turned my laptop off normally and then turned it back on I get the windows has crashed screen, asking me if I would like to start my computer in safe mode or normal. I do not get a BSOD. The error message when i log back in says the files that describe the problem are: C:WindowsMEMORY.DMP.
When I start up my laptop (HP Pavillion dv5-1125nr, Windows 7 Ultimate ~3 years old) it loads normally... Until it hits the login screen. The , it starts to go, makes the sound... Then goes black.I just had my monitor and motherboard replaced for another issue I was having, so I don't think it's a physical issue. View 1 Replies View RelatedOver the last week, my laptop has started to occasionally crash and switch off when it's in sleep mode - after this happens, it won't turn on when the power button is pushed, it'll only work again when it's plugged in. Once it's switched on again I get the black screen that tells me it wasn't shut down properly. I've followed several of the suggestions I've seen on various threads (the power settings upon closing lid are set at 'sleep', hybrid sleep is switched off, I keep it well ventilated, the drivers and BIOS are updated) and still it happens. I haven't done anything significantly different on the laptop, no new installations or updates that I can remember, it runs perfectly fine on battery power when it's awake, nothing else at all seems wrong. I only updated drivers and BIOS etc. after the first few times this happened.
I'm sure it's significant that the laptop is usually fine in sleep mode (even on battery power) and wakes up properly if it's been sat still in one place, and it only seems to crash while I'm moving it i.e. the power light is on when I pick the laptop up, I carry it to another room, set it down and the light has gone off. Also, in one instance after moving it I successfully woke the laptop from sleep, went to plug it in, and when I looked it again it had turned off.
It's still under warranty for another 60 days so I plan to take it in to be checked (I'm not smart enough to start taking apart a laptop, much less actually understand how to fix it), but until I can get to the store next week I'd really like to know what this could be.
Just recently my Laptop has started to crash/hang when placed into hibernation. if I put it into hibernation the screen goes black (which normally happens) then the fan goes crazy, I have to press and hold the power button to get it to shut off. I have noticed when I've come back to my laptop during the day that I have an error message that says "windows has recovered from a serious error" just put it down to overworking. also if I leave my laptop it "sleeps" but I haven't set it to do this, and if it does sleep it crashes the same as it does when hibernating. The only thing I have done that may be causing it is I upgraded the RAM to 8GB, I ran the windows memtest and it came back with no errors.

I am having more problems recently with my laptop crashing completely (no power to anything) while playing Flight Simulator X. This mostly occurs only when playing FSX but tonight i have noticed my machine getting super hot and shutting down unexpectantly. The Fans also begin to speed up prior to shutdown. I have set the computer to maximize performance, disable start up items, etc. After researching this It seems this may be more of a hardware issue than software.

Crashing can occur anywhere from a few minutes after rebooting to a couple hours after rebooting. There is no BSoD when the laptop crashes; the laptop just shuts off and automatically restarts. I have not been able to replicate this issue without an external monitor plugged in. The issue happens with the external monitor plugged in via direct to the laptop or through the dock; VGA or DVI.
So far I've tried:
A clean sweep of the video drivers and testing both the windows display drivers and the ATI drivers.Sending the laptop to HP, where they completely replaced the motherboard.Currently running memtest86+ (currently 2 passes through without any issues).
I have a 4-month old Dell Inspiron N411Z with Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit. I have been noticing that it has trouble "waking up" after sleep or hibernate, when I open the lid, after it was left on from the previous usage, I have to hit power button and it boots up with the first screen being safe mode, start windows normally, etc. I get the unexpected shutdown screen. It then boots normally and all is well, until I close the lid and let it sit, this happens whether it is plugged up or not. Nothing that I do or change, seems to affect the outcome. However, one thing that I have noticed is when I take the laptop to work or vacation with me, it seems to work fine!?? I noticed this after packing it my suitcase and not using it for nearly 3 days on a trip and went to use it when I got home, expecting to have to boot up as usual, and I get the "resuming windows" screen! as well as a nearly full battery, as if it went in to sleep/hibernation and woke up as it should. This has happened at least 2 times that I am aware of?
I have an ongoing problems with Crashes on my laptop they are rarely BSODs and are usually just like interrupts which black out my screen and cause me to have to restart my laptop. My laptop also occasionally freezes on the windows screen or when I finally log into my account.

Some more information: I run AVG bought and paid for as my Anti Virus system and have preformed numerous full scans with no problems at all. I also have AVG PC Tune up which i check often and scan for to optimize my Laptops performance once again besides the usual defrag nothing serious has ever been captured. I Have the free version of Malware Bytes, didn't start the trial so its always on my computer. Again Scans come up impeccably clean. I downloaded and used Memtest86+ ran 10 passes completely clean nothing was reported in need of fixing.
Sfc /scannow came back as no integrity errors. An Extended Version of Windows Memory Diagnostics with 5 passes came back clean also. There is no overheating of any sort. I do However use an external Hard drive to Store most of my video games in (WoW, LoL, SWtoR, Diablo 3, Warcraft 3). And after multiple crashes the Software needed to access my Hard Drive "Stops Working" and ill need to uninstall and re install it. Its a WD Smartware product. I feel like I'm flipping a coin when I turn on my laptop because it will crash numerous times and then finally that one time my laptop runs smooth w/o a problem.
When I close the lid it doesn't shut off, keycommands are ignored and the screen remains black leading my to hit power switch I've had the issue since 06/2012

My sister laptop since yesterday is Now Req Phoenix Fail Safe Key on booting up Samsung N130 Laptop.
She said the laptop crashed while she was browsing the net and when she turn it on and off over night she was display with a Black Screen asking her for a "Phoenix Fail Safe Key"
She has no idea what the key is and does not remember taking the service out. So we decided to try and get some support from Phoenix but on there website the service in now closed down Failsafe
So im not sure how to get rid of this i cant enter bios or boor up and reinstall windows etc is there any way to get rid of this? What if i take the CMOS Battery out will this restart the system? and get rid of the key request?
Blue screen crashes are frequently occurring in my laptop. If it runs for 2 hours continuously.
