View 1 Repliesreally have never seen anything quite like this. When I boot up my PC and it gets to the desktop, a program window pops up and the mouse and keyboard will not work. Therefore, I cannot clear the program from the desktop or go anywhere to run scans or the like to see if the problem is virus related. When I go into safe mode, it does the same thing. I tried restoring to last known configuration with no System Restore shows no restore points. I can't do anything including get you information on my PC. I am running Windows 7 32 bit on a HP/Compaq DC 7600 C/PD 950. I am running Avast Anti-Virus Suite Pro. Regardless once on the desktop, I can not go anywhere. What the heck? Right now I am working on my laptop.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have tried repeatedly to get my USB keyboard and mouse to function after booting into windows 7 64 bit.I also have one ps/2 keyboard Port .There is USB mouse attached to that via USB - ps/2 adapter ( do not yet have a ps/2 keyboard)There is no ps/2 mouse port on the motherboard. My keyboards and mouse work fine in bios and legacy usb is enabled. The motherboard is an asus striker 2 extreme and in addition i have a striped Hd on which there is some data i dont have backed up and need to access.
View 7 Replies View RelatedThe USB ports work only in Bios. I have tried booting in safe mode and with a normal boot, i just get stuck at the password screen. How do i deal with this problem if i have do not have a ps2 mouse port on my motherboard?
My other problem is that all my data is on a striped raid configuration and probably not that easy to access otherwise i'd pull the hd and retreive the info. Most of my data has been backed up, but i do have some work data that i need.
My mouse won't work in the usb ports anymore and my touch pad won't work either...what could be wrong?
View 3 Replies View RelatedShortly after installing the latest intellipoint drivers suggested by Windows 7 along with several other updates from windows update, my Microsoft Keyboard stopped working after windows boots up. The mouse works fine but the keyboard does not.The keyboard doesn't respond AFTER windows starts but works fine in BIOS. I can boot to safe mode using F8 but then the keyboard stops working once Windows prompts me to logon.I can even use the sleep mode button on an alternate keyboard (Logitech) I tried later just to debug the problem to put the computer to sleep but the keys to log on aren't responsive. The computer succesfully restarted a few times after installting the updates so it may not directly be related to the windows updates. Either way, it didn't happen on next bootup.
-I tried all my system restore points and that did not work,
-I tried the "on-screen" keyboard just to get past the logon, but it does not pop up. I can get it to pop up in another installation of windows 7 on the same computer.
- I tried the keyboard on a separate (new) installation of Windows 7 on the same computer and it does work fine, but that doesn't solve the problem. Also the "on-screen" keyboard works fine in the new installation.
-I've tried going into BIOS and setting num-lock boot to on (I don't know why but someone suggested this might work for a similar problem) but it didn't work for me.
- I've also tried a few BIOS options that look like they might make a difference like legacy USB 3.0 support but that did not work.
- different USB ports 2.0 or 3.0 for the receiver combo do not make a difference.
Also a clean re-install is not an option for me because the licenses used for Windows and MS Office won't allow another install.I can get to a dos prompt or access the non-working windows 7 drive and files with dual-boot, but I need to get back to access that installation. Is there a way to manually reinstall the drivers via DOS, the other partition, or some other solution that might work?

recently my computer was acting up and would not startup past the "windows is starting up" screen. I really wanted to play a bunch of games I just bought so I kept occasionally getting it to work in "last known good configuration". Safe mode didn't work and eventually I ran a disc I have no idea what it's called but it said soldierx on the screen and ran like 8 virus scans and did a bunch of tests on my comp, apparently geeksquad uses it. Anyways it removed 3120 spyware, but right before I decided to run this the only reason I decided to was because my keyboard and mouse stopped working. It works in the bios and anything before I actually get to my desktop, lights up and everything, even the keyboard shortcuts work such as windows search, but I can't move my mouse or do anything with my keyboard. I ran startup repair and it says that windows can't automatically fix the problem, had my dad do some pin reset thing where you do something with the battery and move pin 1 to 2 and 2 to three or something like that and didn't work, the bios has ps/2 enabled and legacy something enabled which I read could be the problem, and I have no restore points.
View 4 Replies View Relatedmy problem is when I start the computer and get to the login screen; Im unable to choose the user because neither my keyboard and mouse don't work. I also can't get to the safe mode. I've got USB Wireless mouse and keyboard and it works in bios. I didnt make any changes to the computer lately
View 9 Replies View Relatedwhen i turn on my computer i usualy need to give password to turn it on, but now when i turn on the cpu and the password screen comes up, but i cannot use the keyboard and mouse. only thing i can do is shutdown from the cpu and turn on and still same issue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI cannot get my keyboard and mouse to work. I have resume the system from its previous location failed on my screen and to try again and press enter but keyboard and mouse won't work now so can't press enter.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a replacement mouse + keyboard. (Both Wireless, use same connector). So, I plugged them in last night, and the keyboard worked in the startup. I log in, and it stops working? I have no way to access any files on that computer since i have no working mouse/keyboard besides the one that wont work on that, so I need a way to fix it without accessing files that are only accessible after login.
View 23 Replies View RelatedAfter updating with KB2507938, his USB wireless mouse and keyboard stop working. Apparently his regular, wired keyboard works. Doing a System Restore fixes the problem, but after turning the computer off and then on, etc., the update reapplies itself.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have recently build a new system , windows 7 ultimate x64 and purchased a microsoft natural ergonomic desktop 7000 keyboard and mouse to use with it , I started it up yesterday for the first time , installed windows useing a wired key/mouse , upon completion shut down and restarted with the USB reciver in place , both worked fine , I then shut down and moved the PC into my office where it was to be used , fired it up , didn't work , tried instaling the drivers no joy , reseting , change batteries , no luck (strange thing though when i install the batteries the battery light glows for a few seconds then fades out , that is on both the mouse and keyboard )I then did a reinstall of windows 7 downloaded & installed the latest x64 drivers but nothing , I have tried it on my other PC (WINDOWS XP SP3) Nothing , i also took the pc back to the other room thinking there may have been interferance from the router etc , but the same nothing .
View 6 Replies View RelatedWere working fine yesterday. Today I return home and find computer had mysteriously turned itself on. Mouse not working but keyboard allows me to try to shut down. Taking very long time so shut down with power button.
Now my keyboard and mouse both do not work on Windows login screen. Same for safe mode. Before this, in BIOS, other screens can get to by holding down keys as computer starts, keyboard works.
As Windows loads, can see keyboard illumination switches off. Same for mouse laser. My other USB peripherals (extra HD and wireless thingy) still have lights on. Fairly new computer. Cost me 300 new about 6 months ago.
I tried to 'roll back' Windows - there was only one option - for when I installed Itunes maybe a week ago, but that failed. I chacked inside and outside the case to see if there's any sockets for PS/2 keyboards, but there aren't any.
So my iPod wouldn't be seen on my computer, so I went to the Apple website to fiind out how to fix it. It told me to disable all services in msconfig, and when I reboot, my Mouse and Keyboard won't work
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install Windows 7 Professional 64 bit Edition on new SSD.I'm using a USB keyboard and USB mouseI turn on the computer and the keyboard works. I can enter the bios and use the mouse as well in the bios GUI.I set the computer to boot off the cd-drive. Open the cd-drive. Place Windows 7 inside and restart the system. Now the system boots off the cd and Windows 7 installer disk does its thing.Eventually I reach the page where it reads "Install NowI go to move the mouse. The mouse doesn't work. I try the keyboard. The keyboard doesn't work.To resolve the issue I had to power down the system, unplug the usb keyboard and use an old PS2 keyboard just to get the keyboard to work and install Windows 7.My question is what was the problem and if it occurs next time how do I resolve this issue
View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday night I turned off my computer by pressing the power button and now my mouse and keyboard do not work anymore(in Windows). I wanted to see if it was just the mouse/keyboard itself, but I noticed nothing detects when I connect a USB device. I tried plugging it in every port and it's the same. I thought it was a hardware issue, but now I realize that it is not.
I restarted my computer and tried to get into safe mode; it worked(I was able to go up and down to select which mode I wanted to enter). Once inside safe mode and windows is loaded, the keyboard just freezes. It does not work at all. I then decided to go into bios to see what is up and everything seems right. I even screwed around and messed up my overclock settings.
So now I know my keyboard still works and it's probably a Windows issue. I wanted to see if my mouse would work. I went into Windows Repair(I might have gotten the name wrong) and voila, my mouse worked!
The battery in my logitech k260 mouse died. I changed the batteries in both the mouse and keyboard. Now it doesn't work. I can't find a reset button.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a USB mouse which works fine when it is plugged in at boot time.
When I then (when Win7 is already up) plug the USB mouse out and 10 seconds later back in again then it is not working any more.
Another USB mouse on another Win7 computer does not have such problems.
I've had my P55 LE for about a month and a half now, but I just bought a 120GB OCZ Agility SSD that I want to migrate my Windows 7 install to from my 300GB HDD. I created a backup image using Norton Ghost 15.0 on a third backup drive, and restored the image to the SSD. Alas when I went to boot, I got the BOOTMGR NOT FOUND error, so I tried to reboot with the Windows 7 install DVD in the drive to fix the problem.
The DVD drive is my #1 boot priority drive, and it started right up, detected an OS error, and decided to reboot to begin the fix. Although this time, it prompted me for a "Press any key to boot from CD/DVD..." and my keystrokes were not detected. I tried several times and I could not boot from the DVD! I had issues seeing my USB mouse/keyboard when booting from Acronis TrueImage 2010 Home Trial (but weirdly, THAT had no issue with the "Press any key..." prompt).
Any suggestions? I would love to fix my Windows 7 clone and get up and running on the beautiful SSD.
i want to reinstall my windows 7. i made the cd already. the problem is, when it is asking me to press a button to boot from cd,my keyboard freezes.i cant press anything with it.i can choose the disc in the booting menu, but cant do anything with it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedUSB keyboard is not recognized while booting with windows 7 DVD,
I wanted to format my machine by booting from Windows 7 DVD. At that moment, my USB keyboard is not recognized and I wasnt able to press and character. As a workaround, I managed to plug a PS2 keyboard and it is recognized and worked fine!
What settings in the BIOS might be related to this issue?
When I boot my PC with win 7 64 bit home prem., It says no keyboard present. It used to find it on rebooting. It is a Microsoft laser 6000 keyboard, wirerless. I have to hook another PS2 keyboard up to enter the setup. Can any one shed some light on this.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased Windows 7 and was trying to boot from the disc to do a clean installation, but every time I do this a blank Windows 7 screen appears with a mouse pointer. There are no options or anywhere to click. It just stays on the Windows 7 screen.
I've tried multiple discs (32bit, 64bit and even my friend's copy)
Has anyone had a similar problem? Does anyone know how to fix this?
Ok not sure how to explain this but my mouse/keyboard occasionally freeze up for few seconds and mouse will become very very slow and beeping sound come from speakers when I try to press keys on mouse or just move it, not the standard error sound its different beep. In shooters i sometimes find my self unloading a gun in the air after the lag passes please someone help.

View 10 Replies View RelatedWas playing Left 4 Dead before and noticed whenever I hold down any key on my keyboard (Logitech G15), and try to move my mouse (G9), the mouse moves, the suddenly stops for a split of a second, moves to where I want it, then stop, etc.
Almost as if the MOUSE had latency issues.
Opened up Autodesk Maya afterwards, spun my scene around using Alt + Mouse, and it's all fine.
Anyone else got anything weird like this? Running 64-bit Windows 7.
FIXED. I verified game cache and restarted computer as well as swapping my USB slots.
Yesterday I got on my computer everything is running fine. Today got on it for awhile and suddenly the USB keyboard and USB mouse lock up. I've tried restarting it and I can't get past the first screen. It says keyboard not present or something around those lines.I plugged in a ps/2 keyboard and it works but my USB mouse will still not work. I've tried going into BIOS and making sure USB was enabled. Tried a system restore but for some reason it wont complete.
