Missing Partition After Reinstalling?
Sep 6, 2011Today I reinstall system from XP to WIN 7. All was ok, but one of my partition is missing.Screen from disk managment.141gb of free space, that is all my missing partition!
How I restore it?

Apr 4, 2011I have recently purchased a new Samsung NC110 netbook with Windows 7 Starter installed. However, I find it runs fairly slowly so I intend to install XP on it from an old installation disc.However, when I first started my netbook I set up a partition with 40Gb allocated to the C drive and the remaining 240 to a D drive. Not being that computer savvy I got confused and despite having a portable hard drive for back up and the computer having a separate hidden restore partition, I went ahead with this.My question is that if I start again with XP can I reset the partition to a single C drive with separate restore area?

Nov 1, 2009have installed W7 64bit on separate partition (was H) on 2nd HDD (15mins)leaving XPPro on Drive C.
After install Win 7 has re assigned itself as drive C and drive C is now drive D (which didn't exist before(well - used by DVD). XP isn't shown as an available OS but have managed to see and use it using EasyBCD to add it to boot manager. On reboot however, once win7 or xp has been chosen, closing down and rebooting offer neither as an option with error

Both systems seem to work fine but have to repair the 7 installation first. One thing I did do was assign Win 7 as a different computer name and I have read this might cause problem

MBR Partition Error When Reinstalling From 32 Bit To 64 Bit
Apr 6, 2012I have just ugraded most parts of my PC including going from 2gb of ram to 8gb. As I am currently running windows 7 home premium 32bit I believe my pc will only be reading 4gb of this ram.
I have downloaded a 64 bit installation iso file & burnt to disk, upon reinstalling I was planning on re-using my current windows product key.
Once past the custom installation option I recieve an error message along the lines of "The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks."
I belive my Hard drive has 2 partions, 1 main area for saving files & program files. It also has a factory image drive. This is the first time I have built a PC, Is frustrating to have go this far on my own and get seemingly stuck on what is hopefully the last hurdle

Jun 1, 2011I just bought a second hand Dell Latitude E6510 laptop on which I need to do a clean install of Windows 7. I have been able to do this, but it's been years and I forget.
I used Partition Wizard 6.0 the last few times, but need some guidance now. So, I have:
- A used machine I want to wipe clean and then start from scratch, eventually allowing it to boot from the Windows 7 installation disk.
- Umpteen utilities besides Partition Wizard
- A keen desire to have this happen while I'm still young

Aug 15, 2011Yesterday I've formatted my PC and installed Windows 7 again. Everything is fine, however, some tray icons are missing, like Comodo Firewall and Realtek HD Audio tray icons. Could this be related to some Windows Updates or something? I checked Task Manager and the program processes were running (Comodo/Realtek), just the tray icons were missing.

Sep 21, 2012i reinstalled windows 7 home premium 64-bit (from recovery media, i got it when i bought my laptop) on my samsung NP300E5A laptop, on device manager it says that i have five missing drivers, driver are:

-Ethernet Controller
-Network Controller
-PCI Simple Communication Controller
-SM Bus Controller
Oh and after i reinstall windows, when i reboot windows it loads and instead of welcome screen it shows me black screen and cursor, i can move cursor.

Jul 1, 2010I'm using Compaq Presario CQ40-627TUMy Laptop SpecIntel Dual Core Processor T4400 (2.2GHz, 80Mhz FSB,1 MB L2 Cache)- 2048MB 800MHz DDR2 Memory- 320GB 7200rpm Hard Disk Drive- 14.1' TFT WXGA High-Definition widescreen LCD panel with brightviewtechnologynd i'm using windows 7 Ultimate on boot system partition C, dual boot with linux mint. which mean i got four partition. one for linux mint. one for its swap space. one for windows 7. one for my data storage(movies,drivers,mp3,picture and etc).last few days i try to resize my C partition (120gb) to make it smaller to gain some unallocated spaces and resize the D partition because my D (almost 100gb) (ntfs/primary/data storage) almost full. i use easeus partition master v5.01.
After done resizing and restart i can't see any D partition. so i was worried that my data will disappeared. i try to look for it but there is no Drive D even on the easeus or diskpart. the only drive appears was C Drive.i remove my Linux Mint and its swap (60gb) and thinking that i could get some more free space and do some cmd prompt windows 7 repair fixmbr thing to remove the grub. then i use partition recovery to transfer those missing data from partition D to C Drive. (appears as unformatted)i try to use partition wizard home to resize it back to 300gb. and it works. but i cant make a partition. it will disappear just like that.i also try to use diskpart,command prompt diskpard, and paragon. but also not working. the C drive was shrink but theres no unallocated space and no D drive (the new create partition). i try logical partition,primary,ntfs and fat but also not working. even the unallocated space also gone. i use almost 4 3rd party partitioning software but still got no luck with it.example:i divide 300gb into 2 partition which exist the C partition 150Gb but the other one gone. i wish theres other way than format. i also done many time. doing check disk, partition table doctor, searching for bad sector. but no errors with my hdd.
Missing A Drive Partition
Jan 15, 2009I have a dual boot system with WinXP and Windows 7 on the same drive, partitioned out. I also have a second drive which contains most of my data files.
For some reason, Windows 7 isn't seeing my XP partition, however it has no problems seeing my data drive. XP can also successfully see the new Windows 7 partition when I boot into XP.
Is there a reason why Windows 7 can't see my XP partition? Is there a way to fix this? Doing a search on this was quite hard. I kept getting all sorts of irrelevant results (most about full missing hds which isn't my problem).

Sep 8, 2012partition table since I cant install ubuntu. I used testdisk to fix it and now I lost my partition D. However, I can still see it in testdisk. How can I restore my lost partition? I didn't backup my partition list before I try testdisk

Partition Missing After Windows 7 Installation?
Jun 20, 20101.I start installing a fresh copy of Win 7.2.At the point of installation which concerns partitions I delete my 2 old ones (had 2 partitions on 1 HDD) and create 2 new ones.3.I continue installation on the smaller partition (just for the OS purpose)
4.All done perfectly with installation.5.When I go to My Computer I am only showing drive C: (the smaller OS partition) and I don't see the second partition at all.

Sep 12, 2012i cannot boot my Windows 7 64 bit Dell Studio 1558.Cannot boot to Windows.Error(s)BOOTMGR IS MISSING , CTRL + ALT + DEL TO RESTART. Description:
1. Initally had two partitions .. C and D ..
2. Tried to merge C and D to make C more by using Partiton Wizard.
3. Computer Restarted.
4.BSOD at Starting windows logo
5. Stuck at boot.
6. Launched Windows repair.
7. Unable to do repairs.
8. Dell restore unable to locate present installation. ( "current installation : (Unknown) at Unknown drive)
9. Checked partitions using DISKPART at command prompt.
10. Tried to change active partition . Restarted.
11. BOOTMGR MISSING ERROR. Dont even go to startup repair.
12. DVD DRIVE of LAPTOP NOT WORKING so made Windows Startup repair USB bootable.
13. Now have Access to Recovery Menu.
14. Made Partition Wizard Bootable USB . Now have access to Partition Wizard Also.
15. Tried installing Windows 7 using USB. Got error "installation error. verify windows sources are accessible Windows 7 Instalation Problem - Error Code 0xC0000005.
16. Stuck at boot now.
I checked OS drive in partition wizard bootable , it is intact..Windows installation is there....Every drive is ok but somehow booting not from that drive.I will attach photographs of Partition Wizard Partiton status.

May 23, 2012my Acer Aspire 5738G to factory settings. (I've done it before and i never seemed to have a problem). I know it should be simple to do this, by simply pressing "Alt" and "F10" at the Acer Splashpage when you bootup, and going to the acer eRecovery page. But when i do this i get the error message."HDD RECOVERY VALIDATION FAILED" I've tried my hardest, searched all over google for a solution, but every problem seems to be different.And i can't figure out what is particularly wrong with my computer. I am only an amateur when it comes to computers, and disks, partitions, locating partitions, etc etc is not my strong suit. Is there anyway i can check if the hidden partition "PQservice" is still in my drives? If it helps in anyway, i though i might mention that the previous time i restored back to factory settings.When i completed it, i didn't fully complete the windows installation process, and now whenever i log into my computer, it mentions that my "windows is not yet genuine, click here to register it blah blah blah". I didn't bother doing it because i assumed it wasn't vital, i was and have still been able to use my computer fine for the past year or so without having to do it.

Jun 18, 2012I am using dual booted laptop Windows 7 and Linux. I opened my Disk management and I right clicked the Linux partition drive and I selected "Delete Volume", After that i formated that partition. Now when I restarted my laptop, i got error like this:
"Grub loading. Error: Unknown files grub rescue>".
Then I created a live USB contains SGD iso file. I booted this USB on booting time and selected Windows boot. It asked in the black screen with options "Start windows normally " and " Launch and Start up Repair and " I selected the second option and I tried to restore my back up files, then I can see that C drive contains only the files and folders which I was stored in D drive. and D drive shows only 200 MB size. I dont have CD drive in my laptop. Before this problem:
C drive is -58GB
D drive is -141GB
Now C drive shows 141GB and contains the files which were in my D drive.
Windows 7 Won't Start Or Reinstall, System Partition Missing?

ASUS M5A97 (AM3+) Mobo
AMD Phenom II X4 945
2 x 4GB G-Skill Ripjaw DDR3 RAM
PNY Nvidia GeForce 460 GTX 1GB
A 1TB SATA HDD (can't remember the brand)
A 160GB SATA HDD
My issue is, I'll try to boot into Windows 7 Ultimate x64, not a new installation at all, and I get the "Windows is Starting" screen and the little colored balls, but after a few seconds I get a very very quick blue screen and reboot before Windows even loads. There's no way I can read the blue screen error.So I thought, "Let's just do a startup repair." That didn't work; it said: Quote: Root cause found:The partition table does not have a valid System Partition
Repair action: Partition table repair
Result: Completed successfully. Error code = 0x0
Time taken = 20632ms
So I pop in the Windows 7 installation DVD; it tells me there are missing CD/DVD drivers. I point it to the Windows 7 drivers directory on my primary HDD, it still can't find anything.So I load up my copy of MSDaRT. Some tools load, but it tells me "Tool requires a supported offline OS" under many of the tools, and the ones that do start won't do anything at all because they can't "see" my Windows 7 installation. I have an external HDD reader, but I'd rather not have to wipe everything and do a clean reinstall. Maybe trying to fix the partitions with a G-Parted on an Ubuntu Live CD or something?

May 27, 2012Upon inserting the windows installation disk into the drive, the basic windows procedures took place. It then asked where we wanted to intall the windows operating system. We decided we wanted to partition his one and only hard drive (a 1TB Seagate at 7200rpm or so). We chose a 100GB partition to be the primary drive where the operating system would be installed. Windows also created a 104mb drive for system files or some nonsense. That left a 900 GB partition that would NOT have windows 7 installed on it. Everything installed, PC booted up and when we open windows explorer, the 900 GB drive does not appear. Maybe it has not been formatted?

May 26, 2012In my Sister's laptop, running Windows 7 Ultimate x86, all of a sudden, while she was working on the computer, the "E drive" went missing which was a partition on the hard disk (I don't remember if it was a logical or primary partition). She tried restarting the system but to no avail. So, I told her to open the "Disk management" tool in Windows 7 to see if the partition is visible in there. I did this because sometimes, in my computer, my expansion drive wouldn't show but it would be visible in the disk management tool and all I had to do was to re-assign it a drive letter. But, in this case, it wasn't visible over there.
So, now I told her to download "Mini-Tool Partition manager Home edition" and install it on her laptop. On running it, it wouldn't show the partition either. It would just show "C:", "D", "System Reserved" and unallocated space. However, when I added up the size displayed by C:, D:, System Reserved and Unallocated, it doesn't add up to the actual hard disk size. It means the partition is somewhere there but not visible. Is it possible that the partition would show up correctly if the laptop is booted into the bootable image of Mini-Tool Partition Manager?
Created New Partition And Made It Primary - NTLDR Missing On Boot Up
Aug 31, 2010I created a new partition, and accidentally made it my primary partition (C: being my primary one and D: being by other one) now whenever I boot up I get NTLDR missing ctrl+alt+del to restart. So I downloaded the windows 7 repair files from one website and tried to fix it, but I failed and now I wanted to know is there any other way I can fix using command prompt or will I just have to reinstall windows 7.

After about 10 min, the system came back and said it cannot repair.Outside of start a system from scratch, is there a way I can get the system reserved partition out of the Windows 7 partition?

Feb 2, 2012I have a 1TB hard drive partitions into a C drive and D drive. The operating system is Windows 7 64 bit. The C drive is my every day stuff, and I use D to store media, music, video etc. Today I wanted to access the D drive and it was not there. The C drive is listed as usual. I went to Disk Management and the missing D drive was not there as well. I don't know if this explains things, but I ran a partition analysis program and it showed 500 gigs as unallocated. But that space is also not noted in disk management. Right now I am running partition recovery software to see if the files are somewhere, but it will take a few hours.

Now I am missing 30gb of space, and can not retrieve it. So if I do installation from the beginning i just have 470 GB of space to alocate to partitions ( for example 100mb system , 100gb Primary & 369gb Primary 2 )So 30GB seems lost. I have installed win 7 and run diskmgmt.msc and only 1 disk with 470gb is shown.I tried linux with that partition software and the same... it shows just 470gb of space...30GB are missing/lost/not existing.Once again... so sorry guys for posting this issue since maybe it is something that is common, but I really do not want to give up. It is not up to 30GB , it is about the principle , I have to retrieve it!
