External HDD Lost Status Bar In My Computers / How To Get It Back

if you go to "my computer" you will see your hdd status has a blue bar that displays what data is used up and how much free data you have left.anyway i renamed by external hdd and the blue display bar is gone. i still can right click on on my external and at the bottom it shows up the status, but the blur bar is gone.i had another external and it happen, i jsut formatted and the blue status bar was there again.is there anyway to get the blue status bar without formatting my external hdd?
I have tried every idea offered to have the ready status not to revert back to offline. The computer is an hp pavillion and the printer is hp 6180. I need to get this resolved ASAP.
I've got 3 computers using Windows 7, my computer acting as the "Home" for a homegroup allowing us to share files, data, etc. Yesterday our modem was replaced and now I am the only one who can see the homegroup and the data contained therein. Troubleshooting wizard is indicating that is is a network problem which leads me to believe that perhaps something to do with our change in modem. How I can get the homegroup to show again?
i have a dell computer with windows 7. i put in memory stick from my camera to up load phot's as i have before. but this time it said the files have been damaged and need fixing which it recommended. so i fixed them it also said it was going to move them somewhere else but i can't remember where.
i have recently lost some files on my computer and was wondering if any knew how to get them back.i had some files saved on E: drive and when i check on them today the folders are all still there and named but they are empty and i don't know what has happened to them.there is nothing in the recycle bin so i don't know where they could have gone!
I was using Illustrator CS5 with a number of documents open when I had to leave my office to deal with a screaming daughter. I was then a little distracted before I managed to get back to my laptop. To my horror my laptop had installed some updates and automatically restarted. And you guessed it my files were gone. I know I know I should have been periodically saving them as I worked on them and stupidly enough I had with one but not the others.I quickly checked the recycling bin to see if a back copy was there as I had heard that this is sometimes the case. I did find one document that was modified at the correct time and date but with some random name. I tried restoring it to find out what it was and now have no idea where it has been restored to.
Fixing a pc Replaced hard drive in a Samsung laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. He has lost his original disk. Contacted Samsung and they were NO help at all. He has a key code buy no disk.
I was using a program called Hide Super Bar (can't even find it online anymore) to hide my superbar when I was using rainmeter as my desktop environment. But now that I want to go back to default, I cannot get get my superbar back. There was only one .exe in the HSB folder and I clicked that and nothing happened. Also nothing happened when I uninstalled the program. I have already turned auto-hide off.
So a couple of days ago my computer started to act up but this morning when i turned it on, i got a blue screen and it never wanted to turn on ever since. So i tried reinstalling Windows 7 again on the current system because i do not want to lose my pictures. Is there any way to fix this?
As you can see in the title the external recieves power but computers do not detect it whatsoever. This is a friends HD that has personal pictures and videos from deployment and its important to me that we recover them for him.
Suddenly on Friday 13th July (is this merely a coincidence) my user profile - and I am the only user on this laptop vanished. Fortunately I had backed up 99% of my files BUT I have lost all my E-mail history and all my Firefox Bookmarks. I have rebuilt from what I have but am suffering still from vital lost information. Is there any where I can get it back without I hasten to add losing the new version I have built and worked with since 15th July!
I had Windows 7 and Xubuntu set up in dual boot by EasyBCD, a well known utility.Today the linux kernel has been updated and, after the following reboot, the choice of Xubuntu OS at the dual boot prompt didn't work.So I went through Windows, launched EasyBCD to fix things and:
- changed the order the entries (Win 7 up, first) - selected Windows 7 as default OS - removed Xubuntu entry - added again Xubuntu entry through EasyBCD procedure - saved (maybe I should have saved after each of the changes)
When I rebooted I've found that two identical Xubuntu entries, each pointing to the Linux OS, and no Win 7.I've tried to access Win 7 by Grub, but it points to the dual boot screen, so I'm at start point again.I don't have the Win 7 disk but the usual recovery partition. No backup. Going through the recovery partition gets me back to the dual boot screen..Is there any way to put it in order again? Could you suggestions work in this case?I know that, from Linux, I can install and overwrite MBR with free mbr.bin
I had a message about errors when I plugged in my WD external hard drive. I let the Error Checking run and when it finished it said I needed to format the disk. I cancelled this and looked in my computer and although the drive appeared, no details (i.e. space usage) was present.
I re-ran Error Checking with "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" checked. After running this the drive appeared properly in My Computer.
However there are many files missing, and the space usage of what is there doesn't match up with what my computer says.
Files I can physically see: ~ 120 Gb. Space usage according to Explorer: ~420 Gb. So it looks like tha data may still be there but Windows can't see it? Edit: BTW, forgot to say, all this is booted into Windows 7 not XP on my dual boot system.
I have a dedicated media center that has a old dell monitor (to check settings) and a 42" panasonic HD 1080 television hooked via hdmi. I'm using a combination WMC and Boxee. Problem is everytime I shut down (or just sleep) the external monitor settings >appearnace and personalization>Display>Screen Resolution> mulitple displays goes back to "show desktop only on 2" where I want it to be "duplicate these displays". so I change back and click "keep settings" and it never keeps.
I was working with two drives and mixed them up on a format. What is on the drive isn't essential, but it would be nice to see what was lost, so I can go from there. Can anyone recommend a way to get it back? It just happened and I haven't put anything else on the drive since it happened. Hit Quick Format, and stopped the formatting about 10 seconds into it, sucks
I was trying to lock off my external hard disk to everyone aside from my administrator account on my own PC. It seems that in the process I ended up locking it off completely. It now shows up simply as Local Disk - Unlabeled Volume 7, without displaying any information about it, and when I check its properties it shows no information about it,and the Security tab is missing. I tried to take ownership of it using take own from cmd, with administrative privileges enabled and UAC disabled. That gave me an access denied message. How I could access it, or reset the permissions? I'm using Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
How do I stop the screen resolution from reverting back to 800 x 600 when switching to external monitor? Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Mobile thinks the optimal resolution is 800 x 600 when it's actually 1024 x 768. How do I make it see 1024 x 768 as the optimal resolution and make it the default for the external monitor?
I bought Asus laptop recently, with that i got windows 7 OEM OS already installed, but i didn't have any recovery disc or something like that...i've googled out, but i am confused with taking system image backup and with taking recovery disc optionswhat is the difference between those two?what i want is, I want to take the current windows OS as one image (bootable iso image or something like that) so that i can install it, if my windows 7 crashes anytime in future. so that it works as it is in the present state.how to make the bootable image to an external hard disc,
I purchased a Silicon Power Rugged Armor A80 external hard drive to back up my computer & I can't get it to work. When I try to back up MY Documents, it scans the files, then the window says "wrong input" & "access denied".I have been trying to get help from Silicon Power customer service, but they haven't been able to shed any light on my problem. I'm running Windows 7 Professional & have Norton Internet Security. Could there be some kind of incompatibility with my OS or Norton that's preventing access to the files?
Recently my laptop crashed beyond repair, and has had to be rebuilt. It now operates on Windows 7.Luckily I had backed up some important files onto a portable external Lacie Hardrive. I now need to return some of the files back to the laptop so that I can use them..but I can't seem to find a way to do it!! I suppose I'm just being 'thick'..but can anyone tell me how to do it.
A few months ago after a hard-drive meltdown I purchased a new Hewlett-Packard computer, with Windows 7 HP (64 bit) as the operating system. The tech who installed the computer said I should be fine to back-up to my Phillips 1 GB external hard-drive using the back-up facility provided with Windows 7 HP. I have made a few attempts to do so, all unsuccessful so far. Each time I get a fairly vague 'generic' error message (0x81000001), which does not really provide specific information:
Check your back-up: Windows back-up encountered an internal error. Please review your settings and re-try the operation (It then gives the options of re-trying the back-up or changing the settings). I soon realised after my first failed attempt that my hard-disk space precluded me from backing up a system image, so I configured the back-up facility not to include one- but still the back-ups failed. My hard disk drives are thus:
(C) OS: 207 GB free of 919 GB (D) HP- Recovery (1.45 GB free of 11.9 GB) (G)'Elements' external HD- 1.20 MB of 298 GB (Basically this is an old back-up of my C Drive to an External HD, the capacity of which soon made it woefully inadequate for my back-up needs!) (I) Phillips 1 TB external hard drive (921 GB free of 931 GB)
I have a USB external hard drive that I keep all my documents etc on (had it for years)I upgraded from Vista Home to & Home Premium then had to upgrade recently to Professional to run my Sage. Through all these upgrades my ext. drive ran fine. Occasionally the drvie letter would change if I had something else plugged into the USB, this was always easily corected in disk management by changing the drive path.The connection on the case packed up so I had to get the drive put into a new case, now when I plug it in the drive is assigned G instead of F, I tried to change the drive letter allocation in Disk Management but it won't let me as the program still thinks I have a second ext. hard drive which is labelled F. I suspect this has happened because when the usb connection broke the drive was disconnected suddenly instead of a proper eject.How do I get Disk Management to remove the inactive drive - i can't find any obvious way - eject, delete etc are all missing when I click on tools or tasks.
