I have some new Windows 7 machines on my domain. I have an older program that's installed and it needs to allow users to write and excute files on the c: drive (root). I know this is not a good thing but it's just they way they wrote it. How can I accomplish this? I've tried a number of things already like disabling UAC and LUA in the registry. That didn't work.

I'll describe the scenario under which my issue occured so that maybe it will by chance give someone an idea of what actually happened (because I don't understand it at all).I networked my desktop and laptop computers the other day. I shared my entire hard disk on my laptop with my desktop. Now I know that's not recommended, but I've done it in the past without any issues, and I feel pretty secure having things confined to the walls of my home.I was right in the middle of copying a file from my desktop over to my laptop in the root C directory, and I noticed it seemed to be taking much longer than usual to copy the file. Then with the progress bar halfway, it yields this error:Quote: An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. So I went to the Documents shell folder and tried copying it there. I got the same problem.

I finally tried copying the file to the desktop where it worked like a charm... but it wasn't where I WANTED it.I restarted my computer and tried copying that file from the desktop to the root C directory, and I got the error again.I'm not an expert on networking by any means, but I feel it's not at all normal for my computer to just suddenly disallow me to copy files into certain directories out of the blue. I have played with it a while and haven't had any problems copying/saving/deleting files in any other location I've tried -- it's just the root C directory and Documents folder. Thing is, I didn't even touch the permissions on anything.

I have installed windows 7 on my D: partition because my windows from C: wasn't working anymore and I didn't wanted to format C so I won't lose my files.After i solved my problem with the windows on C, i deleted the windows (including all files that he creates) from partition D. But after that i found a problem, when i installed windows on D he changed the permissions on my files so i couldn't access them anymore.I managed to restore the permissions of my files but there remained one problem that is disturbing me: i can't copy or create any file anything on my D: partition because i get a message "Please remove the write protection!" or "Error 0x80070522

Have you attempted to right click the install file for the application and select "properties," chose the "compatibility" tab and check mark the box "Run this program as an administrator?"

This problem starts in Windows Live Mail, but when that happens and I then go to do a Word Doc, I also encounter a similar problem in there. Normally Word is fin. Only have a problem in Word after it starts up in Live Mail.Often while composing a new message in Live Mail, it is suddenly unusable. It happens often. Got the new partition up and running with a fresh version of Win 7, but now I'm unable to delete / format the previous partition it was on. When I select format drive, after warning me all files will be lost, it says Windows is unable to complete the format. If I try and manually delete all the files, it tells me I need permission from "Trusted Installer" to make changes to certain folders.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is almost unusable because firefox, explorer and chrome are constantly crashing. I don't know a lot about computers but have been trying to figure out what is causing the crashes. I tried uninstalling my antivirus avg and it did not help. I also uninstalled chrome and firefox and then added them back with no change. I checked my event logs and found dns client 1012 errors but did not know if that has anything to do with the browsers crashing.

Once it was re-installed, We put my serial number in and it worked fine (just as it had before). My integrated graphics on my motherboard went out so when i got my GPU up and going, my computer gave me this error and will not let me put in my serial. At the bottom of my screen It displays hat this copy of windows is nott genuine, even though i know it is. Each time I repeat the process i receive the same error code. I don't quite understand what I am reading in the other forums. I just want to get this computer running.

This is odd because last night it was working perfectly, with no problems. I've tried several solutions, like using the repair CD 3 times, to no avail, as well as writing a new mbr through Linux, using testdisk. I also know the whole hard disk isn't compromised since my Linux dual boot is still working with no problems from its partition.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install Windows 7 64bit. After loading windows 7 setup from my dvd drive I get the error "Required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing." From doing a lot of research, it seems this error has nothing to do with my DVD drive but has to do with the SATA Controller Driver. So I try to load the 64bit drivers for the SATA controller and it finds them okay but when i try to install, it says something like "no new devices found". The SATA Driver(s) are the only it ever finds, except for the time I enabled Raid... Then those drivers showed up as well but with the exact same results.

My motherboard is an Asus P5N-E nForce 650i SLI Chipset LGA775 FSB1333 DDR2 Mainboard. However, I can not find anyway to change the setting from AHCI mode to IDE or ATA. As far as I can tell, nothing in my bios allows me to change that setting... or at best it's unapparent.

Yesterday update installing fail with error 80070643. Tryed manually also install it but no luck, any suggestion how to debug it why it fails or solution for this?
On July 12th 2012, my computer installed updates. After rebooting and waiting for me on the login screen, I gave it a hard shutdown to check on the BIOS settings (for a little side project, in the end I did not save any changes). After booting and logging in again, I find that many services are not running. I ran a very thorough check for malware and viruses (took over 24 hours to complete), and still no solutions. I have uninstalled/reinstalled my Broadcom 802.11g Wireless Driver several times.
I now look in the Event Viewer and find that the DHCP Client service is not running! It is set to automatic start in Services.msc, but when I try to manually start it, it gives me error 1075 (some dependencies do not exist or are marked for deletion). Running ipconfig, I notice that my system is using an APIPA-formatted address (169.254.x.x), indicating that the computer couldn't find a DHCP server.
My Event Viewer is peppered with:
Event 7003, Service Control Manager
The DHCP Client service depends the following service: Afd. This service might not be installed.
Event 7001, Service Control Manager
The WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service service depends on the DHCP CLient service which failed to start because of the following error: The dependcy service does not exist or has been marekd for deletion.
And that keeps repeating many times in a minute (about 30-40 cycles of it).
I keep getting an error unable to reach server when using Nortel VPN client.The strange thing is sometimes I can connect and other times I get the above error. I have tried rebooting, even reinstalling and the problem comes and goes.

Nothing seems to have led up to this -- the system booted and shut down successfully, and no software updates or installs were done during the period of time it was on when it was last working. I've attempted many things, but none seem to work. /ScanOs reports no OS detected, while startup repair said the OS was booted successfully. bcdedit also shows no directories linked to "unknown". CHKDSK reports no bad sectors, so such can be discarded. This happens every time I attempt to boot to Windows 7 (Home Edition, x64). I have a copy of Fedora 17 set to dualboot with it

So I have inserted windows 7 Installation disk into CD drive. Then I went to through the installation and I chose the Custom as the installation type.When the partition page appeared, I have formatted all the disks including C which contains windows files. Then I got 298 GB unallocated space. Then I split them in to 4 partitions. Then I have selected one partition to install the windows. Then installation started .
Copying windows files succeeded. Expanding Windows files(0%) is still be like that for 20 minutes. Then I got the error message like: "Windows cannot install required files. Error code 0x80070017". And I thought it would be the installation disk problem. But it works fine in other systems. I tried several disks. No use. Also I got another problem. When system boots I tried to enter into BIOS using F2 and F12 which was mentioned in screen. But it did not enter into the BIOS, Instead it goes to the installation.
I have installed one of our product in a Windows 7 machine. Started the program by simple double click the shortcut in Desktop. Then from the program while trying to take print (by clicking on command button which sends print commands into printer) it fails. Then I executed the program from a command prompt after opened the command prompt as 'Administrator', then the print works. How can we give the print and other related things to be enable/can set the permissions if we execute the program by simply double click the short cut key?
