Partition Write Permit Error 0x80070522
Apr 24, 2011
I have installed windows 7 on my D: partition because my windows from C: wasn't working anymore and I didn't wanted to format C so I won't lose my files. After i solved my problem with the windows on C, i deleted the windows (including all files that he creates) from partition D. But after that i found a problem, when i installed windows on D he changed the permissions on my files so i couldn't access them anymore.I managed to restore the permissions of my files but there remained one problem that is disturbing me: i can't copy or create any file anything on my D: partition because i get a message "Please remove the write protection!" or "Error 0x80070522

I'll describe the scenario under which my issue occured so that maybe it will by chance give someone an idea of what actually happened (because I don't understand it at all).I networked my desktop and laptop computers the other day. I shared my entire hard disk on my laptop with my desktop. Now I know that's not recommended, but I've done it in the past without any issues, and I feel pretty secure having things confined to the walls of my home.I was right in the middle of copying a file from my desktop over to my laptop in the root C directory, and I noticed it seemed to be taking much longer than usual to copy the file. Then with the progress bar halfway, it yields this error:Quote: An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. If you continue toreceive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with thisproblem.Error 0x80070522: A required privilege is not held by the client. So I went to the Documents shell folder and tried copying it there. I got the same problem.
I gave up and transferred the file to a flash drive and was going to copy it from there to my laptop, but surprisingly I got the same error. I finally tried copying the file to the desktop where it worked like a charm... but it wasn't where I WANTED it.I restarted my computer and tried copying that file from the desktop to the root C directory, and I got the error again.I'm not an expert on networking by any means, but I feel it's not at all normal for my computer to just suddenly disallow me to copy files into certain directories out of the blue. I have played with it a while and haven't had any problems copying/saving/deleting files in any other location I've tried -- it's just the root C directory and Documents folder. Thing is, I didn't even touch the permissions on anything.
I looked up my error online, found numerous sources: "Error 0x80070522: A required privilege is not held by the - Microsoft Answers Error 0x80070522: A required privilege is not held by the client - Microsoft AnswersThere was also a post on these forums (somewhere... I can't seem to find it now) which had some REG files to download that would allow taking ownership of individual files. I tried that, and I tried the links above, and nothing works. I can disable UAC entirely and everything works, but when I turn it on, I am restricted from doing anything in the Documents and root C locations. I even tried a System Restore point from 2 days ago... didn't fix anything.[CODE]

I have some new Windows 7 machines on my domain. I have an older program that's installed and it needs to allow users to write and excute files on the c: drive (root). I know this is not a good thing but it's just they way they wrote it. How can I accomplish this? I've tried a number of things already like disabling UAC and LUA in the registry. That didn't work.

I'm a contributor to theSkyNet, and my CPU is crunching away whenever I'm gone from the desktop (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) or whenever there's idle time outside of whatever I'm working on at the moment. I'm wondering if that processing will go on if I lock the computer when I leave it.

I have my HP Laptop which came with Windows Vista as the OS. I want to upgrade to Windows 7 so I bought Windows 7 from my local store.I entered the disc and did boot from CD. It reached to the page where it shows the disk partition. I deleted the partitions and created new one. However, whenever I create the partition, it creates a primary one and gives me error saying Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition.

After composing a fax in Word 2003 and selecting "fax" in printing options the fax composing screen comes up where I enter the fax phone number and choose cover page. After completing the information and I click "send" I get the message:"fax error: the message could not be sent. the media is write protected". I have checked the files and they do not show write protection.I have 2 identical Toshiba Satellite L455's- the only difference is that this one is 64bit and the other is 32bit.On the 32bit machine, using Word 2003, I am able to send the fax created on the 64bit machine without getting the error message. How do I correct the incorrect write protection message?

I have Windows 7 64 bit installed on my computer but needed to install a program only compatible with 32 bit, so decided to create a new 3GB partition using the in-built feature in Windows 7 and install Windows XP on it.
I booted up XP, formatted the partition again,a nd let it run through the set up, but as soon as it had copied the files and rebooted, I got the error message 'error loading operating system'.
I really don't know how to fix this - I'm not bothered about installing XP, I can do without it, but the main thing is getting back onto Windows 7 as I have all my files there. I didn't bother making a back up as I thought any problems that could occur would be limited to the partition that I installed Win XP on.
I tried the 'start up repair' utility on the Windows 7 boot disk, and although that said it had repaired a problem, I still get the same error. Although one strange thing I've noticed is that it says that Windows 7 is located on '(E: ) Local Disk' when it was definitely installed on the D: drive - E: was the new partition of size 3GB with Win XP installed, but according to this it is 400GB + with Windows 7.

i tried to change the partition of my laptop but while in the process, i got an error. when i tried to reboot it, it already says disk error. so i tried to reinstall windows but after the "press any key to boot from cd" msg, i only get a blank screen. now i cant reformat my hard disk and cant reinstall any os on it. i even tried hiren's boot cd but i always get a blank screen after booting from it.
i cant also start the laptop on safe mode or even the last known good configuration. when i tried the safe mode, it says about the partition error (long lines of error like "partition (0)disk...system..." something. i am most certain that the cause was the erroneous or interrupted partitioning.

I have just ugraded most parts of my PC including going from 2gb of ram to 8gb. As I am currently running windows 7 home premium 32bit I believe my pc will only be reading 4gb of this ram.
I have downloaded a 64 bit installation iso file & burnt to disk, upon reinstalling I was planning on re-using my current windows product key.
Once past the custom installation option I recieve an error message along the lines of "The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks."
I belive my Hard drive has 2 partions, 1 main area for saving files & program files. It also has a factory image drive. This is the first time I have built a PC, Is frustrating to have go this far on my own and get seemingly stuck on what is hopefully the last hurdle
