I keep getting an error unable to reach server when using Nortel VPN client.The strange thing is sometimes I can connect and other times I get the above error. I have tried rebooting, even reinstalling and the problem comes and goes.

It works if I reset the router but I keep having to do this as it only works for a limited amount of time sometimes for 5 minutes sometimes for 5 seconds. Network doesn't work, clients cant see each other, can't see server and server can't see them in network and sharing center. What could be a problem? View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue with offline files created offline syncing back to the server. I have set up a network share to be available offline on a client computer. All files are available offline without issue. Here is the issue however. If I set the folder to work offline any file I create in the folder when it is offline just disappears when the folder comes back online, there are no conflicts or sync failures reported in sync center. If I create a new folder offline the folder does sync back to the server. Any changes made to an existing file are also replicated back to the server once the share is back online. So the issue is only with newly created files when the share is offline. I have not been able to replicate this error on any other file server in our environment, However I have recreated the issue with multiple shares with multiple Win 7 clients on this file server.
Steps taken so far.
- Checked and reset permission levels on the share.
- Recreated new shares from scratch for testing.
- Disabled and enabled offline files on the client computer and cleared the offline cache.
- Check various registry entry settings.
- Disabled cashing on the File server.
- Tested with XP the issue does not exist with XP.
The clients are running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit. The File server is Server 2003 Standard 32 bit with SP2.
No mail server client came with Windows 7, that i can find, any recommendations?

We have a print server which runs Server 2008 R2.We have several other servers which also run Server 2008 R2. An issue occurs intermittently and apparently at random, whereby a client will be unable to resolve the host/computer name of the print server. When the issue occurs, we have confirmed the following: - The client has a valid IP address.The client DNS server addresses are correct. - The client can ping the IP address of the print server. - The client can resolve the IP address of the print server by using nslookup and the server�s FQDN. - The client cannot resolve the IP address of the print server by using nslookup and the host/computer name of the print server.The issue can occur regardless of which domain controller the client used to log on. - When the output of ipconfig /display is printed to a text file, many of the other servers in our domain are present in the DNS cache but the print server is not. After the ipconfig /flushdns command is executed, the client can resolve the host/computer name of the print server immediately.

After running more than 50 speedtests on my computer running windows 7, I came to the conclusion that there was something wrong because I was never exceeding 17 Mbps on speedtest.net! I called my ISP and they told me that if they send a tech he will plug a laptop directly to the modem and if he gets 30 Mbps I would have to pay.. while he kept talking I used my Iphone (which is connected to the 30 Mbps connection through my wireless router) and surprisingly got speeds between 21 Mbps and 23 Mbps ! I then realised my modem or router wasn't the problem.
I tried uninstalling AVG antivirus (saw that on some forums), didn't work. I tried to plug my ethernet wire directly in my computer instead of passing through my router, didn't work. I tried the Enable QoS tweak and set it to 0% instead of 20%, didn't work. I'm using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit - Intel Core 2 Duo 3ghz proc - 8 gb 667mhz DDR3 memory - Onboard 100 mbps network adapter - Geforce GTX 560 (I know it's a waste with the Proc I have but i'll upgrade PC soon). BTW, I upgraded my internet connection from 8 Mbps to 30 Mbps. the 8 Mbps was maxed out on any speedtests or any popular torrents. After I upgraded I'm getting max 17 Mbps... it seems to cap there for an unknown reason !

View 1 Replies View RelatedNot sure if this is the correct forum, but I tried a search and didn't find a related thread. I have set up the FTP Server on two Windows 7 (Pro 64-bit) boxes via IIS. I have found that if either PC goes to the screensaver, I cannot FTP to that PC. I get "connection timed out." The second I move my mouse or hit the keyboard to get rid of the screensaver, I can immediately connect via FTP again. Neither box has the screensaver password protected. Is there some setting I need to change so that FTP can connect whether the box is logged on, logged off, or has the screensaver up? This PC will eventually serve as the main image to go out to about 300 remote sites with scripts that run overnight and will need access via FTP.

My laptop is just under 12 months old and other than the battery dying already I have never really had any problems until last week. Its a Dell Inspiron 1564, Intel I3 running windows 7 home premium.After my computer has been woken from sleep mode any window I open in full size no longer sits flush with the top of the monitor (its about a cm below top of screen), but my desktop background is still normal and reaching the top of the monitor and I can put my cursor up there. I have updated my video and BIOS drivers from the Dell website yesterday but that doesnt seem to have done anything. If I restart my computer it goes back to normal again until the next time it sleeps but I would really rather not have to turn my computer on and off 15 times a day?

I installed Office 2007, which has updated to SP3.Using XP I used to be able to successfully use Outlook 2007 for my office email, which uses a microsoft exchange server. I have not been able to get this to connect using Windows 7 despite using exactly the same settings. I have also tried a number of other combinations as advised from other sites but I can't get anything to work?This microsoft fix was also of no help... Error messages when you try to connect Outlook 2007 to Exchange Server: "The action cannot be completed" or "Your Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable" or "Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook".I have tried various username combinations: username or domainusername.I have tried various password security options.This is the error message I get: Outlook cannot logon. Verify you are connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name. The Connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.
I use the following setting:
Use Cached Exchange Mode - unchecked
Encrypt data between MicroSoft Office Outlook and MicroSoft Exchange
Server - checked
Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP - checked
Proxy authentication settings: Basic Authentication
I just upgraded my fileserver to 2008 R2 (clean install) and also upgraded my home PC to Windows 7 (also a clean install). Both are connected together using a linksys 8-port gigabit switch and each machine has 2 NICs which are bridged. The server has a static IP and the workstation currently has a static IP as well (although I've had it set for DHCP and the problem still occurs). Network Discovery is enabled on both and they are both in the same workgroup.
Now with that being said, here's the issue.....
Periodically, the workstation no longer can "see" the server if I try to browse the network. However I can still ping the server by IP as well as name, browse fileshares and even RDP into it. The only thing that is affected is if I'm using a program on my PC and need to access files that are on a network share, then the server isn't listed under network to allow me to browse to the share.
When this happens, I can usually reboot the server and then it will show up, but there seems to be no set pattern as to when it will disappear. If both machines are left on and not rebooted, the server sometimes will just show up under Network for awhile and then disappear again. One final note, on the server, the workstation does show up when browsing the network.
