Unable To Connect To An Outlook Anywhere Exchange Server?
Feb 28, 2012
I have recently purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium x64. I installed Office 2007, which has updated to SP3.Using XP I used to be able to successfully use Outlook 2007 for my office email, which uses a microsoft exchange server. I have not been able to get this to connect using Windows 7 despite using exactly the same settings. I have also tried a number of other combinations as advised from other sites but I can't get anything to work? This microsoft fix was also of no help... Error messages when you try to connect Outlook 2007 to Exchange Server: "The action cannot be completed" or "Your Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable" or "Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook".I have tried various username combinations: username or domainusername.I have tried various password security options. This is the error message I get: Outlook cannot logon. Verify you are connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name. The Connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.
I use the following setting:
Use Cached Exchange Mode - unchecked
Encrypt data between MicroSoft Office Outlook and MicroSoft Exchange
Server - checked
Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP - checked
Proxy authentication settings: Basic Authentication

I installed Win7 (at home) and when I try to configure Outlook 2003 to connect to the exchange server that our company uses. It cannot get access to this server. It says outlook must be online to access the exchange server.
All other internet access works perfectly. I've checked and rechecked all the settings. They are correct. It worked fine on VISTA. I did a Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade. Continues to work fine on my XP Pro station. Seems like something is blocking it from going out over the Internet.

I am using outlook 2010 and recently have started having problems connecting to my exchange server account. It has been running hunky dorry since I installed it a few months ago.Now it occasionally connects to the server but mostly shows "Disconnected" all my other email accounts run correctly. Its not the exchange server as my phone and web exchange connect OK, my laptop is running 2007 and it connects OK.

I had Outlook 2003 set up with two different mail accounts. One was a work account that I set up as an Exchange Server account so I could share calendar, contacts and all email folders. When I purchased a new laptop and migrated programs / data from and XP machine to the new Windows 7 machine I noticed that my work account had been converted to a pop3 account and no long enabled calendar sharing, sent folders,tc. and I could no longer send emails.I'd like to be able to have another Email Account so I can set it up in Exchange format, but I can not figure out how to do that in Windows 7.When I try to start Windows Mail from Programs menu it is missing. I assume this is due to an answer I gave during set up which leads me to believe Outlook 2003 is not wholly compatible with Windows Mail.If I want to continue to use OL2003 with Windows 7 should I just bite the bullet and set up my work account as a pop3 account, or is there a way to create a new mail account that I can set up in MS Exchange Server

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but I tried a search and didn't find a related thread. I have set up the FTP Server on two Windows 7 (Pro 64-bit) boxes via IIS. I have found that if either PC goes to the screensaver, I cannot FTP to that PC. I get "connection timed out." The second I move my mouse or hit the keyboard to get rid of the screensaver, I can immediately connect via FTP again. Neither box has the screensaver password protected. Is there some setting I need to change so that FTP can connect whether the box is logged on, logged off, or has the screensaver up? This PC will eventually serve as the main image to go out to about 300 remote sites with scripts that run overnight and will need access via FTP.

I tried to log onto Firefox and it said something about not able to connect to the proxy server. I then tried to connect to IE, Opera, and safari and they didn't work. I configured my FF settings to let the network choose the server. But for some programs, like MW2 I cannot access Multiplayer, but I can access teamspeak.

I am currently installing a Win 7 box. When I first set things up I was able to get onto my Linux server in Network -> [server name], by logging in to Win 7 using the same user name and password set up on the Linux box.A short while later I am unable to connect - I get a dialog prompting me to enter a user name and password and a message "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password". If I re-enter my user name and password the dialog comes back again.

An issue with Outlook 2007 in combination with my Microsoft Exchange e-mail account was that it couldn't remember the password and I had to enter it every time I started Outlook. This was solved by adding a credential through 'control user passwords2', a workaround which can be found on several sites.
However, this doesn't seem to work anymore using Outlook 2010 with Windows 7. Or at least it seems to work different, but I can't get it to work. Outlook itself creates a generic credential in the form of MS.Outlook: USERNAME>@<EXCHANGESERVER>:PUT, but on another website I found the form MS.Outlook:<E-MAILADDRESS>@<EXCHANGESERVER>:PUT It also creates two Windows credentials, one with the username also as server and one with the correct exchange server, username and password. What should I add to make Outlook remember my password?
I also tried some other workarounds for previous versions of Outlook, but they all didn't work. I tried these: Stop Outlook/Outlook Express Asking For Your Password Every Time | Windows Vista | Windows Tools, Help & Guides Outlook 2007 won't save passwords in Vista...save password..

I have Avast anti virus running as my preferred AV software. To date I have not needed to use Outlook, but this year its usefulness increased as it saves me accessing work emails through my browser (as well as maintaining the calendar and stuff). So, I start the first run set up. All went well until it asked me to log on to the exchange server. When I did so it refused, eventually telling me I had to turn off the SSL(?). From what I could see, I could only do that after the address was entered into the profile, which it won't let me do. I did some digging and read (somewhere) that Avast was the problem. I tried temporarily disabling filters and logging on again, but no different. As a test, I fired up my laptop, also Windows 7, disabled the Avast filters, started Outlook for first use, set up the Exchange connection, logged on fine. Restarted the filters, all good! So next I try to reset Outlook to first run on my desktop. Can't do it. It resets Outlook to default, but doesn't bring up the set-up screen. I suppose I can uninstall Office all together (I'd only need to back up OneNote at this stage) and run a registry cleaner, but I'd rather not at this stage. I tried importing the registry settings from the laptop (no lectures please). This sort of worked; it now tries to log on to exchange on start up, but still fails. Something is still blocking the connection. Any ideas on what the block is?

I do not have the new laptop on, it is an expensive paper weight at the moment. None of my XP software works. I loaded MS XP Mode, I was able to load Office 2000, neither Outlook or outlook express work and I dispise MS Mail and all web based mail. None of my CAD programs worked in XP mode. Note: Acer does not have the hardware support. I removed MS XP Mode. Loaded VMware Player with XP Pro,loaded all my programs, copied my old HDD to new files in virtual machine. Setup Office 2000 Outlook and outlook express work perfect as does all office 2000. Cad programs work (or so I thought) I wasted 3 hours designing a generator room in one of my cad programs and all was well till I tried to create a new file on the virtual drive and was unable to. Tried to save my drawing to any file, was not allowed.
Spent the rest of the day re-drawing the generator room on old laptop. Tried all of the things on setting up networking the drives and folders, was still unable to create new file folders or save any new cad files. There is nothing wrong with this old laptop, it is just 6 years old and found a great deal on the Acer. Tried to load XP on a new HDD, that failed (somewhat) after loading and looking at the properties, many drivers were not working. It seems all MFG's are looking to MS to develop their drivers. What else can I try to get XP Mode to work like XPI can not afford to upgrade all my programs and with that, none of my old files would be usable.I use several cad programs daily at the same time as I work on several projects at the same time, plus I do all my own quotes and PO's and send to vendors, plus receive in everything. I have to be able to create new files and save everything I do where I want toThis is also the first time I have used a new OS so soon. I usually give it a few years.I went from 95 2nd Ed to XP all was smooth. Stayed away from ME and Vista like the plague

I use Outlook2010 as mail program. When I Start it to receive my mails I got a Internet Security warning. Target Principal Name is Incorrect What simply means that the URL of the certificate and the domain I connect to is not the same. Thats not a real problem as I know the cert is OK.
The question is how do I tell outlook that it hast to trust this certificate? I already tried some ways to install it, but it seems that I'm missing something.

I have outlook 2010 and it was set up automatically via IMAP to two separate register.com accounts. These accounts also are set up to download to my iPad and iPhone. All of a sudden whenever I delete a message on the server it is deleted from outlook as well. (This include messages manually deleted from the server and automatically deleted from Trash folder on the server).

Can anyone advise how I would go about fixing this. I am trying to connect to a network (I have a dell running on windows 7) and it keeps telling me that windows is unable to connect to the network-this is before I can even enter the security key. I know it is not a problem with the wireless because other people are able to connect to it fine.

Today, my house got new internet. Now, my desktop, which is plugged directly into the modem, can't connect to the DNS server. I have internet connection, since Skype and Steam both work, but any web browser only works about 15% of the time. Neither of the three wireless-connected laptops in the house are having any problems. I've tried a few things, but nothing seems to work.
Here is my ipconfig /all.

I'm using Outlook 2007 and an IMAP server through Godaddy (which I am quickly disliking after many years). I run several accounts, two of which are IMAP (the others are POP). This morning, all of a sudden, the previously retrieved messages on ONE of the IMAP accounts no longer appear in Outlook, despite being on the server -- I can see all of them via webmail. There is only one folder - the Inbox. The other IMAP account still functions normally (which is also through Godaddy), and all my saved folders that reside locally all function normally too -- none of that mail is gone as best I can tell.
I can receive new mail without issue, and send mail as well, but cannot access the old mail via Outlook. I don't get any error messages, I haven't changed any settings, and I've run Microsoft's "Outlook 2007 Inbox Repair Tool" - SCANPST on all my PST files. The tool found errors in all the files, and it repaired them, but that has not changed a thing.

Laptop: ASUS Notebook K60IJ Series
I work from home a lot by remoting in to my PC at work. Last week I was able to remote in just fine, but today could not using my laptop. I could remote in using my wife's laptop just fine, but could not using mine. I get the following error:Could not connect to terminal server can log into the network just fine. I have a random passkey that I enter etc. But, when I put in my workstation ID and try to connect, I get the above error.Again, I was able to log in just fine using my wife's laptop today, but not mine I have not made any changes recently (that I know of)
Update:this seems to be an Internet Explorer issue. I downloaded and tried to remote in using Firefox and it worked just fine. Any ideas why IE is now giving me issues? Is there a setting that changed? I was gonna try to uninstall and reinstall IE, but it does not come up in my list of programs to uninstall...

We have a windows 2000 server, a few XP, 1 vista and 1 windows 7. Everything works fine before but all in a sudden, only the Windows 7 cannot connect to the server. The 7 is a new PC, it works and connect to the server fine for the first 3 months, but all of a sudden, it just cannot connect and keep prompting that the user name and password is wrong. I have re-install the 7 (it is HP and we use the recovery disc) and I even get a new wireless adapter to test, the 7 can get on the internet, everything except the server. But all others windows has no problem with the server, I am guess it has to do with the 7. I am getting so frustrated that I also gonna use that HP windows 7 into a door stopper.

This problem suddenly appeared and after I had successfully managed to connect to the servers. I recently purchased this Dell XPS 8300 with Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium and am trying to connect to a Win2000 and a Win2003 server. I can connect to other Windows 7 machines on this network without incident.I can see the servers in my network, but when I attempt to login, after the first login attempt I get the box showing MININT-9MI7DNAdmini... MININT-9MI7DN was the name of this computer before I renamed it.
I then try to login using the "Use Different Account" option and I put in (server name)(userid) and password, but then I get the second image attached to this post. I've also tried (server name)(userid) but with no greater success. Also, on the computer that is having problems, the system tray icon for the network shows the "X" but when I put the mouse over it, it shows Internet Access. And I do have Internet access on this machine since I am posting this message from the problem machine. I don't know if this system tray icon issue is related but, thought I would mention it.I have ensured that all computers are in the same workgroup.I have turned off IPv6 on the machine having issues.I have made sure that NetBIOS help for IPv4 is enabled.I have tested logging into these accounts on these servers from

I am currently running a Server 2003 R2 domain with about 100 computers running WinXP Pro on it. Some of these computers are older tablet style computers that are used out in our shop floor area. We are looking to replace these with some newer Windows 7 mini-PC's. All of them connect to the network via wireless access points, as these stations need to be mobile so they can be taken to all areas of the shop.During the test setup of the device I can get it to join to the domain and it can connect to our main file server, which is also the primary DC, and download files with no problem. It can also connect to the mail server with no problems that I have noticed so far.
The issue arises, when it tries to connect to get Group Policy updates. when running "gpupdate /force" I get an error for both the user and computer parts of the update that says: "The Processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not locate the directory object group policy..." When looking at the event logs, there are tons of GP errors, all of them are error 1101.

I'm experiencing a curious issue. I've installed a second Samba server on our network and I've imported all the users from the original over, along with smb conf files, etc... All PC's are access both servers without an issue except for 1 Windows 7 64-bit OS machine. Oddly enough, the virtual pc on the Win7 box connects without an issue. To add another twist, the win7 box connects to the older Samba without issue. When trying to browse to the new server I get.... "Windows cannot access \NewServer" Check the spelling of the name..... Error Code 0x80070035 The network path was not found.

I have a web server and a mail server running under Win 7 on my LAN, most smoothly, but I want to be alerted when the servers appear down to the WAN. So I wrote a PHP script and sent it to a remote web server, and invoke the script from my web browser on the LAN. The script checks my domain's MX records for hosts, then converts the mail server's host name to IP, then connects to IP's IMAPS, POP3S and SMTPS ports (933, 995, 465) and receives the welcome messages. It then connects to my web server on HTTPS and HTTP ports (443 and 80), and sends a simple HEAD request and receives the response.
