I have outlook 2010 and it was set up automatically via IMAP to two separate register.com accounts. These accounts also are set up to download to my iPad and iPhone. All of a sudden whenever I delete a message on the server it is deleted from outlook as well. (This include messages manually deleted from the server and automatically deleted from Trash folder on the server).

View 6 Replies View RelatedTwice in as many weeks I have had a machine come to me missing the Outlook 2010 pst file needed to run. I have run GetDataBack for NTFS on both and recovered a string of pst files that look to be the appropriate size but I have had to run scanpst on them to get Outlook to use the files. Only a small percentage of the files can be repaired and of the repaired files only a small amount of email (messages) information is actually returned to Outlook. Is this the result of some type of new and very malicious infection?

We use individual pst files to file our emails per current job. But the folders above take up a lot of visual space in the toolbaro it would be preffered to hide or delete them.
We do not use either to "file" emails so the compact now option in the data file managment dialog box does not really apply since I believe this is really a benefit when the file is archived.
I am using outlook 2010 and recently have started having problems connecting to my exchange server account. It has been running hunky dorry since I installed it a few months ago.Now it occasionally connects to the server but mostly shows "Disconnected" all my other email accounts run correctly. Its not the exchange server as my phone and web exchange connect OK, my laptop is running 2007 and it connects OK.

I've been trying to create a Task in Outlook from a Word Document that I have created on this computer. The idea is that a shortcut to the document is created as an Outlook Task. Click on the shortcut, and voila - there is the document.The "Create Microsoft Office Task" icon DOES send the document to Outlook as a Shortcut in a Task, however, when I open the task, Outlook says:"Outlook blocked access to the following potentially unsafe attachments: Shortcut to 'document name'."It's NOT an unsafe attachment; Outlook WILL OPEN this document if I send it as an email attachment. Outlook will open .docx files types.
I have many, many Outlook messages on my HD that I stored in .msg format. I am about to set up an old laptop that will not have Outlook on but will have those stored messages either on it or accessible on a USB device.Is there a piece of software around that will let me read those messages? I've tried to do it with Thunderbird but can't find a way just to read individual, stored outside of Outlook's pst files, messages.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to move one pst file from one laptop which has Outlook 2010 32 bit to another laptop which has Outlook 2010 64 bit installed, steps taken 1) Copied the pst file from the User/AppData/Microsoft/Outlook folder to usb. 2) Pasted the file from usb into User/Documents folder. 3) Tried to open the file in Outlook and I get the error that Outlook encountered errors while opening the file. Now how is that possible when the file is working perfectly in one laptop but when I copy and paste it into another it gets corrupted? Is it due to 32 bit to 64 bit outlook? I tried to repair it using scanpst and it brought back few mails?

I recently got a program install package (ThumbsPlus, so reputable.) that will NOT install. Cerious support, BTW, is tragic, but at one point in this ongoing saga they suggested getting the MS Install CLeanup utility - ran that, and the original install error was then replaced with one about a registry key it apparently needs to open but can't. I located the offending key from the error message, but it can't be deleted (or opened). I have tried everything - given myself full permissions, added a new Admin account using the elevated command prompt and so on, as per another thread. I couldn't follow the MS information referred to in that thread.

I have a new Dell Inspiron 14Z running windows 7 pro 64bit and i'm using Microsoft office 2010. I'm trying to retrieve archived emails that i backed up on an external hard drive from a previous computer, the files are .pst which is an outlook format but i keep on getting an error message saying the file is not an Outlook data file (.pst). i dont have any other way to retrieve these emails since they were deleted from the server and its about 1.5 years of work emails. Not sure what to do? should i move the files from the external driver to a different location on the computer and open them, or are they corrupted and need to be fixed?

I followed instructions saying to open in safe mode and delete profile files ending .bak via the regeditor.Now it boots up but all the user information is gone, desktop icons etc. The worst is all my microsoft outlook messages which contained hundreds of important messages. I have followed the directions on the Internet to copy the Outlook express mail folder onto a flash drive. The directions I followed were to go to Outlook express, click on tools, options, maintenance, store folder. Then copy store location, go to start menu, click run. Then when the Outlook express folder opens with the DBX files, I copied the entire folder to a flash drive. I want all emails in that folder to display and get access. In other folders (inbox), I can go to view - collapse/expand all groups. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and Microsoft Home and Office 2010. Everything was working fine yesterday, but when I came back to work today and attempted to open Outlook 2010, I instantly received a message saying: "Outlook failed to launch in safe mode. Do you want to start repair?" If you try to open it again, it opens a second process of OUTLOOK.EXE*32 in the Task Manager. Here is what I've already tried to do while troubleshooting:
- Restarted the computer
- Performed a MS Office Repair, it completed, rebooted (Did this twice)
- Uninstalled MS Office 2010, rebooted, reinstalled it, rebooted, but same problem occurred
- Verified that the other Office programs work (Word, Excel, etc)
- Tried to run "outlook.exe /resetnavpane"
I'm currently stumped at the moment. I cannot even access the profiles through Control Panel > Mail.
Outlook won't send emails. I get "sending reported error (ox8004010f): The operation failed. An object could not be found." I see other has had the same issue

Now that MS has moved on to the 2013 version of the software, it still does not work on 2010. What did people do? Here is the problem have a .pst file from Outlook 2007 on an old computer. I want to use that same .pst file on a new computer running Outlook 2010. I want all my new mail to go to the old .pst file and nowhere else. Now here is what I've tried and what seems to happen:When starting O'2010 it needs your email address. I create that but then it creates a new .pst file named myname@mydomain.com.pstAnd it creates it in C:/Users/myname/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Outlook. If I try to move the new .pst file to the folder entitled C:/Users/myname/Documents/Outlook Files, then when I restart Outlook it recreates the deleted .pst file back in the AppData folder

I have copied the ..pst from the 2003 XP machine to a flash drive and copied them into the outlook folder on windows 7 under documentments/outlook folder which is new in 2010. I have already created a single pop account in 2010 and been using for a couple of weeks while trying to move the old 2003 pst file.
