Oct 13, 2009I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to correct a persistent Event ID 10016 error that keeps showing up in Event Viewer.
I've actually found a couple of guides on how to fix this...change the launch permissions for the app that's causing the problem (IPbusEnum) but when I try to change the launch permissions using dcomcnfg none of the options on the properties/securities tab are available (grayed out).
My user has administrator permissions, I've tried launching dcomcnfg.exe by right click/click on "run as administrator" but no go.
Here's the text of the error message:
The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{C97FCC79-E628-407D-AE68-A06AD6D8B4D1}
and APPID
{344ED43D-D086-4961-86A6-1106F4ACAD9B}
to the user NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.
The CLSID and APPID resolve to a service run under svchost (IPBusEnum). Would appreciate any pointers/hints on how to resolve this error.

Nov 6, 2012My internet isn't working too well, it shows great signal strength and says its connected but won't let me access the internet. It works if I reset the router but I keep having to do this as it only works for a limited amount of time sometimes for 5 minutes sometimes for 5 seconds. The solution was to go to services and start the 'windows installer service'...doing this fixed some of the issues but apparently not all of them. I still can't run Fireworks or AvastUI.exe and other apps such as Upgrade Advisor. Heck, I can't even run certain windows updates. I have a HP desktop running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium. I know for a fact that there are no mal/ad/spyware on my computer.
I have ran Trojan Remover and removed all the junk that I'm sure caused the problem in the first place. Here are some windows provided solutions I have tried: I have ran all MS 'Fix-It' apps, uninstalled reinstalled my apps, went to command line ran 'msiexec /regserver'. I know windows installer is installed but its corrupted for sure. My last resort is to wipe out the OS and reinstall it.

The only time I'm getting the error svchost.exe unable to start error 0xc0000142 error is when I'm trying to shutdown and reboot. Aug 15, 2010I tried to replace 3 files in the system 32 folder, and must have made a mistake along the way leaving my laptop inaccessible once logged on. The three files were:
uxtheme.dll
themeui.dll
themeservice.dll
I received these error messaged when logged on:dwm.exe - Application error the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Sep 12, 2012Not sure if this is the correct forum, but I tried a search and didn't find a related thread. I have set up the FTP Server on two Windows 7 (Pro 64-bit) boxes via IIS. I have found that if either PC goes to the screensaver, I cannot FTP to that PC. I get "connection timed out." The second I move my mouse or hit the keyboard to get rid of the screensaver, I can immediately connect via FTP again. Neither box has the screensaver password protected. Is there some setting I need to change so that FTP can connect whether the box is logged on, logged off, or has the screensaver up? This PC will eventually serve as the main image to go out to about 300 remote sites with scripts that run overnight and will need access via FTP.

Jul 1, 2012When I start up my computer, my Steam starts up, then I manually start Chrome. Chrome comes up fine, Steam does too, but when I try to right click on Steam and click friends, all it does is create another steam process running at 100-108 K. Then if I close Chrome and try to reopen it, it will do the same. This happens with EVERY program after I start up. There's a 5 second window where I can open programs without issue, then after that it will only start 108 K copies of them. It takes me around 30 restarts just to get it working properly, if not more.
