Event ID 10016 - DCOM Permissions Error
Oct 13, 2009
I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to correct a persistent Event ID 10016 error that keeps showing up in Event Viewer.
I've actually found a couple of guides on how to fix this...change the launch permissions for the app that's causing the problem (IPbusEnum) but when I try to change the launch permissions using dcomcnfg none of the options on the properties/securities tab are available (grayed out).
My user has administrator permissions, I've tried launching dcomcnfg.exe by right click/click on "run as administrator" but no go.
Here's the text of the error message:
The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{C97FCC79-E628-407D-AE68-A06AD6D8B4D1}
and APPID
{344ED43D-D086-4961-86A6-1106F4ACAD9B}
to the user NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.
The CLSID and APPID resolve to a service run under svchost (IPBusEnum). Would appreciate any pointers/hints on how to resolve this error.

I get this identical [other than timestamp] event Error [red] in my sys log at exact 10 minute intervals. How to run down the appid to see if its a program that I don't need? Or otherwise run the permissions or path or whatever error and resolve? I have a cbs.log. This is the event, and as said I have checked all the detail on each one that logs and the detail is identical:

Problem:
Computer rarely restarts during the time I am using it. It restarts if I leave stuff downloading overnight or if I leave on during the day. I then have to re-install any software I installed the previous time because it says it was shutdown improperly ( CRASHED).
I then check the Event logger and see it has multiple crash reports.
Shows as
Level: Critical
Source: Kernal-Power
Event ID: 41
Task Category: 63
I show 20 of these crashes so far and I just built the system yesterday. I need help in determining what could be causing this. The motherboard? Old Videocard? Windows 7? 64 Bit platform? Any thoughts?
I just built a brand new i7 920 System.
Specs:
i7 920 ( Stock Speed )
Asus P6T SE Motherboard
Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit
Power Supply Antec 750W Modular PSU

Samsung DVD burner
Seagate 1TB Drive 7200 RPM's
RAM: Kingston Hyper X 6GB of DDR3 @ 16000MHZ ( stock also) KHX1600C8D3K3/6GX

I have had a few BSOD on a secondary networked PC I use for some add on apps. I am pretty sure they are hardware related, but I was looking at the Event Log and it is reporting multiple errors connected with the Service Control Manager. The text is as follows "The WinPcap Packet Driver (NPF) service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified." The log show this has occurred 77,645 times in the last 24 hours, There are approx 700 entries of "The Computer Browser service depends on the Server service which failed to start because of the following error: The dependency service or group failed to start.

Alright this error isn't causing me any issues I just noticed it when I was going to check the log file of my recent disk check, and it pops up a few times and from googling it some people say it can be from a virus.I just did all my full scans and nothing showed up, what exactly is this error from and should I worry about it?lso under general of the error it says Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM__InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace //./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.

I booted up the computer after being off all night and checked the Event log and noticed this error:
"the following fatal alert was recieved; 47
Log Name : System
Source: Schannel
Event ID: 36887
Level: Error
User: System
log shows the error from 8:18 am to 8:29 am.
I did a some research and from what I can gleam from it was that maybe it could be a security certificate issue?? I havent installed any new programs or hardware. I checked Windows Update.. computer fully updated. I sent detailed feedback to Microsoft.
Out of curiousity, I completely shutdown the computer. Waited for about 5 or tem min. and rebooted. The error did not show up in Event log after reboot. Has anyone else encountered this error? If so, is there a "fix?? also should I be concerned?

I have gone through my Network and Sharing Center in Windows 7RC and turned everything on except Password Protected Sharing. I have joined both Windows 7 and Xp machines into WORKGROUP. I can access my Public folder and my shared printer from my Windows 7 machine on my XP machine. I'm trying to share my Mp3 folder, thats on a secondary HDD in my Windows 7 machine.
Path being "E:StuffMp3z". No matter what I change as far as permissions, adding HomeGroupuser to the Advanced Sharing dialog...everything I've tried, my XP machine can see the share, but I get the ".......is not accessable. You may not have permissions...." error in XP trying to open the shared folder. And what's up with not having a folder icon with a Share symbol in Windows 7 so by looking in Explorer you can tell a folder is shared?

I am experiencing a problem with Windows 7 professional, 32 bit, where I am getting an error message (detailed below) when trying to open a file with an unregistered extension. For example, if I rename a file that ends in .txt and contains text, to something with a .test extension the "Open with..." dialog never appears, and I instead get the permission denied message. AVG premium is installed, however through a combination of disabling AVG as well as providing exceptions to the file extension, I can fairly safely rule out intervention from AVG. Windows Defender is disabled, Windows UAC is disabled as well. The Windows Firewall is on, but checking the settings for the firewall suggest no issues would be coming from there. To add to the fire, if I register the .test extension to open with notepad, the file will open fine and text is displayed as expected. Also of note, I can read the file from command prompt even when the extension is not registered to an application.

I am using win 7 home basic edition. There was a power failure and could not shut down the system.when i started the system it gave me this error.Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service service. This problem prevents limited users from logging on to the system. As an administrative user, you can review the System Event Log for details about why the service didn't respond.i have also booted in safe mode and went to the command prompt in safe mode and did a netsh winsock reset. But still i am getting this error.

Ok, my system is slowing down when I do large file transfers (transfer goes from 60M/s to 2M/s after zero io for about 10 min).
Anyway, I am now combing through the Event Viewer + resource monitor and I came across "event 35" with the source kernel-processor-power the text associated says "Performance power management features on process or 1 in group 0 are disabled due to a firmware problem. Check with the computer mfgr for updated firmware" - anyway I have a bunch of these errors.
Googled for 'event 35' and found nothing - anyone have more detail on this event and how to solve it?

Basically my laptop has been having very high temperatures for a long time (usually ~60C for CPU and often 100-110 for GPU...insanely high, in other words) For example, see how hot the machine gets just by resuming from a sleep (this is all within a minute or so):I have been seeing the following error in event viewer each time I start Windows (4 entries) for some time:So today I bit the bullet and had the back cover off the laptop and noticed what a bad state the thermal compound was in, for both the CPU and the chipset chip, so wiped it off using TIM Cleaner, and then applied new thermal compound and put the laptop back together. I was actually shocked because for the first time since I can remember, I could feel cold air blowing from the vents of my laptop! I logged into Windows and noticed that my temperatures had fallen and were staying at around the below:Not as low as I'd like but a massive improvement. Trouble is, I am still getting the WHEA-Logger event errors in Windows Event Viewer ('processor core') and wondered if this was not in regards to overheating after all?The plus side is my laptop is now almost totally silent - the way it must have been when I bought it new 3 years ago! But I was wondering how to investigate these WHEA-Logger errors?PS - I think I accidentally got some TIM Cleaner spilt on the carpet. Might be nothing to worry about, but I did notice the "Harmful" hazard symbol on the bottle?

Yesterday while using Firefox I noticed it kept crashing, with the cause being a "BEX Event". I try opening it to no avail, everytime terminating immediately after I clicked on it. I tried Chrome and Explorer, but both of them suffered the same problem, immediately crashing due to the BEX error. I restarted my system multiple times to see if it subsides, but it reappeared promptly everytime for ALL three browsers (!) I tried Safe Mode with networking to see if its gone. Nope, same problem, with Explorer and Firefox collapsing instantly, while Chrome seem to take around 10-12 seconds of surfing before flatlining due to the same cause.
I then decided to use System Restore and managed to take my whole system back to 5 days ago when none of the problems were happening. Tried again, but nope, same issue with a BEX event. This time it seems Explorer would display it as BEX64 instead of just BEX. I tried resetting entire settings for Explorer, but the BEX error would always prevent me from doing so by shutting down the whole things before its done. I thought, maybe, just maybe, it has something to do with a faulty DEP on Explorer, and added it the list of exceptions for DEP. Still didn't work, and the system wouldn't let me add Chrome and Firefox to the list either. I tried to see if maybe I can download some new antivirus or antispyware programs off the net, except that none of my browsers work, so I have no access to the Internet in both normal and Safe modes.... Sufficient to say I am typing here from a library's computer.

I get an Event Error 6008 on my desktop that I personally built. When the weather was cooler the computer ran fine. Now that it is summer time (I live in CA and its about 100 outside and 80ish in the house) it shuts down when I'm running high resource stuff such as games and multi-tasking if I don't use a 6inch room fan to blow are directly into the case.
