"Desktop Window Manager Stopped Working And Was Closed"?

I get this problem or error "Desktop Window Manager stopped working and was closed" every time I stay logged on but "switch users". When I come back to my user account, there are two messages on my taskbar that both say "Desktop Window Manager stopped working and was closed". I have uninstalled and reinstalled my Nvidia driver and updated to the latest driver version. I have even went to "task manager" and located the dwm.exe and made a dump file.

Why do I get this?. Desktop Window manager stopped working and was closed? I am using motherboard P4S8X with Windows 7 just install. And 2 gb memory.
It maybe a driver issue with the MOBO or some other device. Try and update the MOBO drivers to start with and see if that does anything. If worse comes to worse, you can do a start repair by booting from the W7 DVD.
I was actually thinking this was more specific to the video driver, as DWM has close ties to it...

I have just up-dated all my drivers using "Driver Update" and now when I try to open some programs I get a fatal error message and a message that "Desktop manager stopped working".

I have to warn you... I'm severely technologically impaired, so I know next to nothing about computers. I keep getting a pop-up that says "Window desktop manager has topped working," sometimes it says "and was closed."

I use Windows 7 64 Home Premium, and I have Microsoft office 2003 installed, where I use Microsoft Outlook for my main email address. In recent months, when I close down the outlook, a Microsoft pops up states 'Microsoft word has stopped working'. If the pop up isn't closed, for some reason Microsoft word opens up, and when I do need to open Microsoft word, this freezes and takes ages to open up, also on closing, it freezes again, and it is stated in start task manager 'as not responding.

Mozilla on the main screen and outlook express on the slave screen.Ran the usual clear temp files and ran malwarebyes and superantispyware scans.I am not playing any games or music, just browsing one website (secure) and outlook express, why am I getting resource contention on the Desktop Window Manager?

Ive got a problem with my aero, It turns off after a couple of seconds on power up.Getting a massage that Desktop Window Manager is disabled, while its started in services. Event viewer shows error message : (0x88980406).

A month ago, I got my brand new, very nice Aurora R4 Alienware computer. A week after that the Realtek HD Audio Manager stops working every time I start my computer. It is very annoying. I still get sound, although now after trying to troubleshoot it, Vent tells me Direct Sound can't be enabled because it can't find a driver. Which of course is even more annoying.

I have WMC running on 3 Windows 7 x64 machines. I use Remote Desktop on my main PC in order to see my scheduled programs on all three machines on one screen. This has worked quite well for me for a long time......until this morning when WMC crashed in one of my remote windows. I visited the remote machine. When I opened WMC it had lost all my programing. It remembered my Series settings, though, which helped some. As of now, it's working on the host machine, ......however, I cannot open that WMC in the remote desktop. It crashes with this message in the details section:

I have a new computer at my office running Windows 7 Professional. My computer at home is running Windows 7 Ultimate. Immediately after connecting via Remote Desktop (from my office to my home), I get an eror message that says "Remote Desktop has stopped working". I didn't have this problem when my machine at the office was a Windows XP Pro machine.

I am currently having difficulty with rocketdock. Before you think "this doesn't belong on this forum", let me explain what I am trying to do, and then what I need to know.I am trying to find a way to make it so that if I have a window that is "closed/minimized" to the system tray (because I use taskbar hider, I need to), I am able to see them on rocketdock and actually use the "right-click" options (because if I try to right-click the icon for a shortcut, for example steam, it just brings up the rocketdock options instead.So what I need, although I'm not sure if it will work, is to know if there is a folder location for the "system tray", or if you know a different method that could allow me to do what I mentioned above.

Basically, all of the icons on my desktop, as well as my entire taskbar, including the windows icon, have disappeared. It happened about 20 minutes ago, when I forced firefox to close via task manager. After I hit End Process, the icons and my taskbar disappeared. I can't right-click my desktop either. However, my desktop background, as well as the toolbar on the top is still there, and all of my programs as well as explorer are accessible. I've done one cold restart, and nothing changed. I've gone into the control panel, but I couldn't access anything associated to the task bar, and my windows key does not work as well.

Recently my computer has been force closing applications like Photoshop and Windows Explorer. It usually happens when I right click in Explorer or try to open anything in Photoshop. When it happens, a dialogue box comes up that says "Windows Explorer has stopped working" or "Adobe Photoshop has stopped working" Under the details it displays this information:

I got this PC 3 weeks ago. For two days now Several of my devices have a Code 10 on start up. For instance my mouse in the Device Manager window has a code 10 and will not work until I use the trouble shooter and it re-installs the driver. I have tried updating the USB drivers as many recommend but there were no updates. I tried Microsoft's fix it, and it was not fixed.

I was Deleting 19 GB of data, It was taking time so i canceled it by pressing cancel, Even cancellation was taking Time so i used task manager to stop the deletion.
But Here come the problem the deleted folders were not in the recycle bin & not in the path from were i deleted.. Even worst is that memory of 19 GB is still Occupied.

I have a HP dv6910us Pavilion and the DVD is not listed in Device Manager. DVD Tray opens and light comes on but does not play DVD. 1st USB port on left side gets - USB Device Not Recognized.One under it works and one on the right side works.OS Windows7 Ultimate. It is running kind of screwy so I wanted to reinstall Windows7 but with the DVD not operating Can't do it. Seems like maybe something in the register got erased or corrupted. If I can get the DVD and USB port to work I won't have to reinstall Windows 7

Every time I start up the laptop the desktop is black, there is no icons, and there is no bar at the bottom of the screen, and also the Libraries Window show up at the start up.
This laptop also did not come with any CD so I don't have an option to reformat do I? I think it maybe a virus but I'm not sure and I don't know what to do about it, when I try to open Mozzila Firefox from that Libraries Window i get a msg saying:

i get exactly this Desktop-Folder-Window just randomly then and when. It pops up in the middle of the work. It puts itself over the active window. It does not seem to be related to any open software or any particular user action, its really just random...Sometimes it does not happen for a while, and then, however, it starts again. We talk about 1 new Window popping up in 5 minutes or so, sometimes more, sometimes less.

New install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.What causes ghosting or shadowing from a previous window on the desktop or next window you have on top?As we were setting up the wireless connection a pop-up from the network icon in the lower right taskbar area seemed to ghost or shadow on the next window that came to the top and even the desktop. It did not go away till the PC was restarted. This was a Windows 7 pop-up, not a software popup.

I have tried all the common fixes with no success,I have tried opening one window then another and draging the second window to the full screen size and then closing the first and second windows while holding the ctrl key I have tried to reset IE settings, all that has done is NOTHING to help.This started happening after I just did a fresh install of Windows 7?
