It maybe a driver issue with the MOBO or some other device. Try and update the MOBO drivers to start with and see if that does anything. If worse comes to worse, you can do a start repair by booting from the W7 DVD.
I was actually thinking this was more specific to the video driver, as DWM has close ties to it...

I get this problem or error "Desktop Window Manager stopped working and was closed" every time I stay logged on but "switch users". When I come back to my user account, there are two messages on my taskbar that both say "Desktop Window Manager stopped working and was closed". I have uninstalled and reinstalled my Nvidia driver and updated to the latest driver version. I have even went to "task manager" and located the dwm.exe and made a dump file.

I just swapped out my 560 ti for an identical model (on warranty). Now GTA-SA won't launch. I've tried a full delete/reinstall of GTA to no avail. I also updated the GPU's drivers.In HW Manager, I have 2 exclamations:
-Video Controller
-USB Controller
The game worked fine with the last gpu (until that gpu developed a noisy fan).

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got a laptop with windows home premium 64 bit installed on it and I use it for gaming a lot. It's high spec and there's usually no problem but I've been having problems with guild wars 2.Basically the game crashes a lot. When it crashes, I end the application in task manager but if you go to the processes tab the process is still there and clicking end process or end process tree doesn't close it down. The game won't restart while this is hanging so I have to reboot the laptop. It's getting very annoying and is happening a couple of times a day. Does anyone know how to fix the problem? Is there a way to kill processes quickly or does anyone know what I can do to stop the crashes full stop?I've tried opening task manager and closing the application then closing down the process which doesn't work. I tried ending the process first before ending the application but that still closes down the application and leaves the process hanging. I've tried to end the process in the cmd line but it still leaves the process hanging or if I do it before ending the application it just closes the application and leaves the process hanging.

I got this PC 3 weeks ago. For two days now Several of my devices have a Code 10 on start up. For instance my mouse in the Device Manager window has a code 10 and will not work until I use the trouble shooter and it re-installs the driver. I have tried updating the USB drivers as many recommend but there were no updates. I tried Microsoft's fix it, and it was not fixed.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis is a recently developed problem, as I've been playing Saints row the third and skyrim the game crashes after about 30 min. Not every time though. like 1 out of 3 times I play. The game will be working great (no lag or drop in frame rate) and it just up and closes to the desktop. No crash report or any other form of notification of what happened. I looked at the event viewer and I wasn't sure where to look in it but I looked in windows logs->applications and I found this error around the time of one of the crashes:Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently got my first crash(0x00000050) on my pretty new Asus G74SX-A1 laptop while playing Half-Life: Source and never had any other blue screens before that. After that, I restarted and went to desktop and it eventually crashed again but when it did I opened Steam(not sure if connected). After that second crash, I went and scanned my PC on safe mode and then restarted again and tried to do a system repair but right after it was done I got the second BSOD(0x0000001a).
I have not recently installed any new hardware or anything that could change my system in any way. The last time I updated my PC's hardware was when I updated my graphics card (Nvidia gtx 560m) to a beta client about 3-4 weeks ago and haven't had any problems.
I looked through some of the error dumps my self to see what was causing the problems and it says it was "ntoskrnl.exe+7f1c0" but I'm not too sure what to do.
I provided the dump files in the attachements(2 dump files zipped). Edit: I think I might have fixed it by updating my graphics card, performing hard drive error checking, and chkdsk /f. I am not totally sure if it is resolved yet and if it is not, I will post back with more information informing that it has not worked.
Alright so recently Burnout Paradise has been crashing to the desktop without displaying any kind of error message. I can load the game, select a vehicle, and get in game just fine but the game will crash after a random amount of time. My system specs shouldn't be a problem at all, but you can check them out. Every time I start up the laptop the desktop is black, there is no icons, and there is no bar at the bottom of the screen, and also the Libraries Window show up at the start up.
This laptop also did not come with any CD so I don't have an option to reformat do I? I think it maybe a virus but I'm not sure and I don't know what to do about it, when I try to open Mozzila Firefox from that Libraries Window i get a msg saying:

i get exactly this Desktop-Folder-Window just randomly then and when. It pops up in the middle of the work. It puts itself over the active window. It does not seem to be related to any open software or any particular user action, its really just random...Sometimes it does not happen for a while, and then, however, it starts again. We talk about 1 new Window popping up in 5 minutes or so, sometimes more, sometimes less.
