I have just up-dated all my drivers using "Driver Update" and now when I try to open some programs I get a fatal error message and a message that "Desktop manager stopped working".

It maybe a driver issue with the MOBO or some other device. Try and update the MOBO drivers to start with and see if that does anything. If worse comes to worse, you can do a start repair by booting from the W7 DVD.
I was actually thinking this was more specific to the video driver, as DWM has close ties to it...
I get this problem or error "Desktop Window Manager stopped working and was closed" every time I stay logged on but "switch users". When I come back to my user account, there are two messages on my taskbar that both say "Desktop Window Manager stopped working and was closed". I have uninstalled and reinstalled my Nvidia driver and updated to the latest driver version. I have even went to "task manager" and located the dwm.exe and made a dump file.
View 9 Replies View RelatedA month ago, I got my brand new, very nice Aurora R4 Alienware computer. A week after that the Realtek HD Audio Manager stops working every time I start my computer. It is very annoying. I still get sound, although now after trying to troubleshoot it, Vent tells me Direct Sound can't be enabled because it can't find a driver. Which of course is even more annoying.

When have to right click on desktop and Windows explorer I get the message "Windows Explorer has stopped Working" Restarting Windows explorer. This makes it difficult to do anything that requires a right click.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have WMC running on 3 Windows 7 x64 machines. I use Remote Desktop on my main PC in order to see my scheduled programs on all three machines on one screen. This has worked quite well for me for a long time......until this morning when WMC crashed in one of my remote windows. I visited the remote machine. When I opened WMC it had lost all my programing. It remembered my Series settings, though, which helped some. As of now, it's working on the host machine, ......however, I cannot open that WMC in the remote desktop. It crashes with this message in the details section:

I have a new computer at my office running Windows 7 Professional. My computer at home is running Windows 7 Ultimate. Immediately after connecting via Remote Desktop (from my office to my home), I get an eror message that says "Remote Desktop has stopped working". I didn't have this problem when my machine at the office was a Windows XP Pro machine.

I was Deleting 19 GB of data, It was taking time so i canceled it by pressing cancel, Even cancellation was taking Time so i used task manager to stop the deletion.
But Here come the problem the deleted folders were not in the recycle bin & not in the path from were i deleted.. Even worst is that memory of 19 GB is still Occupied.
I have a HP dv6910us Pavilion and the DVD is not listed in Device Manager. DVD Tray opens and light comes on but does not play DVD. 1st USB port on left side gets - USB Device Not Recognized.One under it works and one on the right side works.OS Windows7 Ultimate. It is running kind of screwy so I wanted to reinstall Windows7 but with the DVD not operating Can't do it. Seems like maybe something in the register got erased or corrupted. If I can get the DVD and USB port to work I won't have to reinstall Windows 7

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently renewed my internet security subscription. Immediately after doing so, the Calendar and Weather gadgets stopped working. The Calendar shows up as a blank orange/white square and opening up the Weather gadget will just reveal the "i" information symbol and a X close button, neither of which actually work.
Clock gadget also stopped working but then after an hour later it started working again and has been working since. I have tried deleting/uninstalling the gadgets but that hasn't worked. I have tried several tricks with the Windows command prompt which doesn't work either.
I'm considering using an automatic system restore (I don't have any manual saved points to restore) on just the gadgets themselves. Is that the way to go, or is there something else I could try? I've decided to name it: McAfee. I didn't at first, because it's been my experience whenever I mention a problem and mention an antiviral program.
I mention McAfee because it's an odd thing: I've searched forums and have found that others have had the almost the same problem; except with them it happens when you UNINSTALL McAfee, not renew it. I've also found another possible solution that involves deleting a registry key, but I'm way too nervous to try that.
When I start the computer it all seems normal until the desktop appears and the icons load. Before I can do anything I get a pop up saying Windows Explorer has stopped working. I have the option to restart windows or check on line for a solution. Both options give the same results. View 2 Replies View RelatedIt initially started when I downloaded a torrent that was a folder containing a video. Once the download had completed I attempted to open the folder but I got the message "Windows Explorer has stopped working - windows is checking for a solution to the problem", then a different windows pops up with "Windows explorer is restarting". After a few seconds the start bar vanishes then comes back almost immediately. I thought that possible the folder I had downloaded was corrupt so tried deleting it, but when I right clicked on the folder I got the same. I used a program called Glary utilities to permanently delete the folder and that did the trick.A few days passed and I used utorrent to download another, different video, which was also contained in a folder, and I am having the same message come up on this one - "Windows Explorer has stopped working - windows is checking for a solution to the problem" This is the only folder, as far as I'm aware, that this happens with. One time when I tried to open it the following came up instead of the usual "windows explorer has stopped" - The instruction at 0x0a04b890 referenced memory at 0x033f3d0e. The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate this program. run scndisk, chkdisk, spybot S&D, malwarebytes, Avast and Microsoft security essentials and some registry cleaners/fixers but nothing has helped. I also downloaded a program called "WER_Explorer" which apparently creates a dump file whenever the error occurs, but I can't open make any sense of it all. I downlaoded the above program from [URL]. I can access the folder when I run in safe mode, and the folder is shared on a home network and I can access it from my laptop.

I have uninstalled Photoshop and tried to reinstall it but still have the same issue.
