I'm using 7057. Not sure when this problem started as I don't use CDs or DVDs that much. The drive works fine, ImgBurn works fine, all other programs seem to see the files on a disk fine, they just don't show up in Windows Explorer. I click on the drive in the "Navigation Pane" and nothing happens. I've tried two good DVD drives, uninstalled ImgBurn and PowerISO, still nothing.
View 3 RepliesI would like to make a change in the view of Windows Explorer (not IE) in Windows 7 OS. I click on View and then Choose Detail and choose Date. That changes what I see in the Contents Pane. I can see the Date of the files. But, when I change to a different folder, I have to do it all over again. How can I make this change permanent?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 25 files and folders on my desktop but only 15 are visible when viewing the desktop directly. All of them are visible when viewing the desktop in Windows Explorer. I have two monitors configured as one and keep all desktop items on one of them. I've tried selecting everything with CTL-A while on the desktop and moving them around as a group, to see if the missing ones might have somehow scrolled off the screen, but that doesn't reveal them.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just got a new PC with Windows 7 installed and have run into this issue twice, both times with a particular folder - let's call it "UsefulDocuments2" (the actual folder name DOES have a 2 at the end, but there is no folder called "UsefulDocuments").
Sometimes, when I try to view the folder contents using Explorer or through Windows Live Mail (in an attempt to include a file in the folder as an attachment), I can't view the contents of the folder. When I access the folder, it has the proper path listed in the address bar of the window and displays the number of items (171) in the lower left corner. However, the status bar just says "Searching for items..." except I can occasionally see it flicker to say "171 items."
While it is "Searching for items..." (which is 99.9% of the time), it doesn't display any of the contents of the folder. The scrollbar on the side of the window constantly flickers - it's recognizing that there are 171 items in the folder and that the scrollbar is necessary, but then keeps re-searching the folder contents, I guess.
Weirdly, if I change the folder name to, say, "UsefulDocuments" it works fine (at least right now). If I then change it back to "UsefulDocuments2" it reverts to its old behavior. Also, if I open a file in it in Word (2010), I can view and access the contents of the folder without any problem at all.
Obviously, I can just change the folder name, but don't really want to for organizational reasons, and also am just curious as to what's going on and how to fix it should it happen to other folders, etc.
I am trying to upgrade from Vista starter to win7pro 32 bit. My Vista is French and the upgrade will put win 7 on in English but the disc drive which works for everything else cannot see the disc
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional to take advantage of Virtual PC but I notice that when using the new W7 professional, there is a lot of web content missing from the display when browsing. e.g on the Yahoo home page, only the central section is displayed, the two side sections are completely missing. Even the submit button is missing from this page! How I can see the full content of a display? (It is ok in Virtual PC running XP).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have album artwork displayed for every album/directory in my music directory (D:Music) by using a folder.ico and a desktop.ini file.This method was used as a work-around to fix the deficiency in Windows Vista and 7 to no longer display front-facing album covers using the folder.jpg file.This work-around looks fantastic and actually looks better than XP because it's borderless.It also has the advantage of staying loaded into memory, which I have plenty of, until I restart the computer, unlike the use of folder.jpg, which has to be reloaded every time the directory is opened and scrolled.However, when I first open my music folder, it has to load all the artwork and I have to manually scroll through the entire directory until all of the folder.ico files are read.I have a very large library and this takes some time. I can set D:Music to open at startup, and it will read the folder.ico files for the visible albums/directories, but then I still have to manually scroll after that.Is there any way to force Windows to load the folder.ico files for every folder in my D:Music directory at startup, with no intervention from me? When I go to open or scroll through the music directory, all of my album artwork has already been pre-loaded into memory and thus it is a seamless flow of album artwork with no waiting.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently baught a Clevo Metabox P170EM laptop (the Australian version, i think the US version is by Sager), and it has a 128gb SSD Crucial M4 and a secondary 750gb HDD. I am not actually sure what kind of harddrive it is, all I know is that it is 750gb 7200rpm.I baught the laptop without an OS, as I had a Windows 7 disk already, and I had to go into drive management to format the secondary HDD. That all worked fine, I got it up and running, and was copying data across for a day. I also installed a couple of games (Crysis 1 &2, Dragon Age Origins if it matters) and played them from the secondary drive without a hassle.While playing, I got 122 Windows Updates which required a restart. So I let them install while I worked on clearing up my old laptop.Next time I booted the new one up, all of the icons for the previous games were blank and the HDD was unavailable. It doesn't show up in My Computer or Disk Management or even the BIOS (is that normal?)It also seemingly uninstalled some of my drivers - my nvidia GTX 670M wasn't recognised til I reinstalled the driver from the CD. I tried reinstalling every driver but no luck for the HDD.

I have 2 PCs running Win 7 x64, an XBOX 360, and one PC with Win XP/SP3. I reset the router and recreated the network, and the win 7 machines can see each other perfectly, but I still cant get the XP machine to see the win 7 computers/have the Windows 7 computers see the XP one. Also I can't get anything into connection with the XBOX.

I look in my BIOS and it finds it, but it's not showing up in the boot selection options (boot selection options are only my SSD, DVD-ROM and USB drives).My goal is to have my boot drive as my SSD and then the rest of my programs on the HDD.[CODE]

View 2 Replies View RelatedBasically I woke up this morning to my computer sitting at a black screen with the cursor visible. I'm able to move the cursor but do nothing else. I rebooted my computer my manually shutting it off and then it started up as it would normally but did this disc check: [URL] from there it moves back to the black screen with the cursor. I again restarted and booted in safe mode this time. I was then able to reach windows and tried to do a system restore to an earlier point. When I did this i was greeted with this error [URL]. View 1 Replies View RelatedI was surfing the net this morning and in the background i was installing "Logmein". I assume the website i got it off is legit as many of my friends have it installed it to play networked games. This is the website i downloaded it from [URL] Whilst it was installing my laptop froze and ctrl + alt + del wouldn't work so i turned it off by holding down the power button and then turned it back on. It now loads up a screen that says "Windows error recovery" and has an option to "Launch Startup Repair" or "Start windows normally" . whichever one i select the outcome is the same... a screen that says "windows is loading files..." followed by a blank login screen with only the cursor for company as shown in the image below: [URL]
I have no idea what to do and this is the first real problem i haven't been able to solve in the 2 years ive had it.
I have tried every option in the "Advanced Boot Options" (F8 on startup) menu in the hope that something different would happen but every single time is identical to the last. I am running windows 7 premium x64 bit on the Sony Vaio VGN-NW20SF. My laptop didn't come with a windows 7 disk so i cant reformat it. I havent backed it up for a while and there are files i would like to keep if possible.
I was looking for a file when I noticed it was gone. I fired up the Windows search engine and Search Everything, both of which said the file was still there. When I try to open the search result in any media player, it says the file could not be found.I already restarted my system, but both search engines still say the file exists. Is the file still there? I cannot find it with Undelete Plus, but it did find a lot of files that were recently deleted.

I had it plugged into my laptop when I was blowing it off and putting a copy of XP Pro on it. When it said to delete the partition, I clicked on the USB drive on accident.
