Recently updated my Windows experience including Windows Mail but when I start to type in my group contact (25 names) the group enters the To... part of the email message, I type the email message, then click send, nothing. In my contacts folder I check the group and they are all there, yet when in the email message, they are not.
View 4 RepliesI'm currently sharing this laptop with my son and he's not to picky on his downloads.Anyway, he must've downloaded something wrong, because i had to reset my computer to the factory settings. Hence, I lost all of my WLM-contacts. Is there any way to retrieve them?
View 7 Replies View Related1. I have already installed Windows 7 on top of the Vista system that previously on it.
2. The mail database was NOT on the boot "C" drive...it was on another partition (D drive.
3. After the successful conversion to Windows 7 home premium, I installed and started Win Live mail
4 Win live mail works ok.
5. From the Win live mail client running on the Windows 7 system, I tried to import the folders from the previous win mail client that I was using while running vista:
File->Import->Messages->Windows Mail->Next->WinMail database file name(D:Vista_Mail)->Next->All Folders->Next.
Import messages window appears and progress bar shows the folder names being processed and when it completes with NO error message, the followning appears in the win live mail import window:
"Import Complete"
"Your messages were imported in "Windows Mail format"".
I then clicked on "Finish"
There are 3 items on the win live mail pain labeled "imported folder", Imported folder (1)" and "Imported folder (2)".
Clicking on any of those 3 entries tells me "There are no items in this View"
I have tried to click on all of the items in the pane and see NO folders.
a serious disruption caused me to have to reinstall windows 7 again, but the old windows 7 copy(windows.old) was saved. however, the outlook 2007 contacts and e-mails were never saved, so now, how can i retrieve the e-mails and contacts?

I have trawled through this question via the search box search and the nearest answer is to export them first. Unfortunately I did not do that.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two computers connected to the same HomeGroup on the same network. Both are sharing their documents (Control Panel/HomeGroup). On both computers, Windows Explorer shows the user on the other computer under HomeGroup, and under each user is Documents. But when I click on Documents, nothing changes. It seems that it isn't reading the contents of the documents folder on the other computer.

Now that I have my new mail installed from Microsoft Office 2010 which is Microsoft Outlook, I want to reinstall all my mail contacts from my backed up system. Does anyone know the file ext to look for and under what folder would these contacts be posted in? Also, would anything change from Vista to 7 as far as the ext name ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs it at all possible to hide the Downloads, Links, Favorites, Searches, Videos, Saved Games, and Contacts folders (just the folder, not contents)? I've tried just hiding it like any other folder but it won't work.AND if possible, have explorer open in my home folder instead of libraries.
PS: I tried disabling libraries entirely, but it opens to My Documents instead of my home folder.
I've now got to the stage where I'm ready for importing Windows Mail Contacts to Windows Live Mail client. Do I really have to export them as a CSV first?

Furthermore, none of the files previously located in that folder were there anymore either, though the folder itself was in its proper location in the file hierarchy. I copied a cell number from a Facebook conversation and tried to paste it to a record in my WLM contacts. No Dice. It seems to accept pastes into most of the other fields but phone #s, email addresses and websites are not allowed.
Does anyone know if this is some kind of security setting? I poked around in the WLM options and couldn't find anything.
It looks like it should be easy.I start off by clicking on " contacts" at the bottom left (below "calendar" and above "feeds")Then , being sure to highlight a contact , I click on the tab underneath where it says "export" (at the top near the middle -just to the right of where it says import and to the left of where it says "directories") and am invited to choose between .csv or .vcf formats.I choose one of these and nothing happens...I imagine I have failed to spot the next step... unless the program is at faultI need to do this as I want to backup the program prior to uninstalling and replacing it since there is a small problem that recurrs each time I open it...

Contact page headers do not even appear, giving me no option to import contacts. The header from the preceding choice remains. If you right click on an email address and choose 'Add sender to contacts', the box comes up to fill in the information, but it does not appear on the contact page.

However, the Contacts list is currently sorted by first name. I haven't found an option to change the sort order. Is there one? My cousin had the same issue.I could find my contacts list on my C: drive but they weren't linked together anymore.By logging into Windows live (@live.com email) the problem was corrected.But what about those people who don't use or don't remember their login for their @live.com account? How do you link the 'Contact' file from your hard drive to your Windows Live??
View 1 Replies View RelatedFrom looking at other computers and on the Internet, it appears that the Contacts folder is supposed to have a customized menu bar with a "New Contact" button, but on this machine the menu looks the same as every other folder. I don't use this folder/app very often, so I can't say exactly when this changed, but the desktop.ini file in this folder has a relatively recent modification date, and contains the following:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently replaced my Hard drive. I had been backing up using Win 7 Back-up. After replacing my hard drive due to failure I have had issue restoring. I first tried to restore with the image after a while it gave me a failure error. So I the reinstalled windows with the original disks that I created when computer was purchased. I reinstalled most of my programs and was able to restore data with the backup. Most of my data was restored but I am missing some information. One is my contacts in Windows live mail. Where in the back up data might my contacts be and where they go. I am also sometimes having issues with windows recognizing the data on my usb hard drive. The backup data and windows backup image are there but when I run restore, advanced recovery methods, it does not find the data on the drive. It states that no back up data could be found The drive is showing.

After the o.s. was reloaded I downloaded Windows Live Mail and started to use it. I want to recover the backed up storage folders and the contacts folder and instal them into the new Live Mail. Since I am using the most recent installation, is this creating a problem that will not allow the backed up folders etc. to write into the new folders.

I can right-click within the box to sort, but it's very inefficient. retain that detail bar in all views?
