I would like to make a change in the view of Windows Explorer (not IE) in Windows 7 OS. I click on View and then Choose Detail and choose Date. That changes what I see in the Contents Pane. I can see the Date of the files. But, when I change to a different folder, I have to do it all over again. How can I make this change permanent?
View 3 RepliesAnyone know how to change the underlined key in the Context Menu? Say for example you right click a Folder Favorite in the Nav Pane in Explorer. There's a command that says MyCommand. If the current underlined key is 'M' and 'y' is not taken, how to change it to 'y' then?In Windows Seven and Vista there are context menu commands to open the folder favorite in the Nav Pane in a new window. But for some reason they are different. I'd like to make them both the same. That way I wouldn't have to think about it. Just right click a Folder favorite and hit the key.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn Windows Seven if I right click in Explorer left pane Favorites I can then press 'e' to open that folder in a new window. In Vista, I have to press 'o'. Being right handed and wanting to use the mouse, now I have to reach across with my left hand to press the 'o' key. Is there no way to change the underline/shortcut/accelerator whatever they call it key in the context menu? I see no way to do it. I look in the Registry and I don't see any "&" in front of any of the letters. But the short cut letter is there just the same. There must be a way to change it.

It reverts to a gray box with a black border, blue up-down arrow in the upper right corner, and a portion of a finger in the lower right corner. I can't find a cursor file that is associated with this stubborn cursor, and I need to find out what the file is that is associated with this so I can DELETE it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure what the issue is but I can go in and change the mouse cursors and everything works until I restart the computer. Then it immediately reverts back to the default Windows 7 Aero cursor. When I go back in the cursors settings it has my settings listed but I have to hit "Ok" and then it's fine again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using 7057. Not sure when this problem started as I don't use CDs or DVDs that much. The drive works fine, ImgBurn works fine, all other programs seem to see the files on a disk fine, they just don't show up in Windows Explorer. I click on the drive in the "Navigation Pane" and nothing happens. I've tried two good DVD drives, uninstalled ImgBurn and PowerISO, still nothing.

I would also like to remove certain items in the Navigation pane that I don't use such as "Network" and/or "Control Panel" if possible. I have tried a program that was suggested in another post which was suggested by the user mickey megabyte and can be found [URL="[/URL] . However sadly, this program did not remove any of these unwanted items.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a folder using the tree in the left pane the position of the selected folder change. It's like the layout of the tree pane is not working fine. Maybe they autoscroll in order to display all the child's folders but I don't like this. When the folder i want to open is in the middle of the pane (vertically) it moves often to the bottom and i can't even see the child's folder, and some time it move the opened folder to the top of the pane
I just would like to have the thing working as it's in XP. When we open a folder, this one don't move and the children appears under this one.

If I have a long list of folders in the left window and I click on the small arrow to the left of a folder, it is supposed to show the list of sub-folders that are in the selected folder.
It does but here is my problem. Lets say the folder that I select is in the middle of the left window. When I click on the small arrow, Windows Explorer shifts the folder list down so that the selected folder is near the bottom of the window. Generally I can only see one of the sub-folders. And then I have to use the slider to move the selected folder up so I can see more than one sub-folder.
I wish it would leave the folder where it was and show as many sub-folders as possible underneath the selected folder.
If I right-click on some items in the navigation pane, the explorer crahses and gives me "Explorer stopped working" message pop-up.

I blieve it may be linked to the new video card that I installed. After I changed the stock video graphics card that came with this HP desktop station (Win 7 64-bit), this started happening. I changed the video card to yet another one - the problem still there..

View 2 Replies View RelatedNot sure if this is due to my hardware or some setting in Windows 7. I have Win 7 Pro x64 on a Sony Vaio ZPCZ11. Using the MS Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 7000. In the file view of Windows File Explorer, if I click in the space and wheel scroll, everything works fine and the scrolling is smooth. But when I click in the Navigation Pane (Folder List) and try the same thing, it wants to scroll an entire page at a time. I cannot get the smooth mouse scrolling to work in this Pane!

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhat my plan is, is to remove Desktop from the Navigation Pane maybe using a Registry Hack but I think if it did, it would remove the others too since they expand from Desktop. I never use Desktop from Navigation Pane and just find it to be a nuisance to always have it collapsed and just remove it instead. I have already removed Favourites and if I can get Desktop to be removed I will remove the Homegroup and Network from that too using Brink's already made Tutorials.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I hover over a file that is supposed to have a preview option in Windows Explorer, the preview pane in explorer is blank. If I hover over a file that doesn't have a preview handler, it says "Preview not available". However the preview of images does work. Office files and PDFs won't display. I have checked all of the suggested folder options and they are set correctly. I have also found the preview handlers in the registry and they are all referenced there. I tried repairing Office and also did a sfc /scannow.

That is, the column on the far right is expanded almost all the way across to the left, covering up the file names, size, etc. I can move it back to the right,but it is there each time I open WinExpl. View 4 Replies View RelatedWhenever a PDF document is selected in Windows Explorer, the document is being Previewed, I am unable to make specific changes to that document when I open it in either Acrobat Pro or Foxit.
The specific changes include: note annotations, adding lines, objects, text boxes, call out boxes, images.
For some reason, highlighting doesn't produce the same error (weird?) Preview seems to be stealing the permissions to save a file because i guess it is accessing the file too.
The error is: Quote: The document could not be saved. The file may be read-only, or opened by another user, save the document with a different name or in a
different folder The solution is to de-select the document from Explorer and then save the file. However, this is extremely irritating. I select the document in Explorer before I open it, so of course the file is still selected! In order to get around this, I have to manually de-select any file that I want to save, OR turn off Preview.
Any workaround for this so that Preview doesn't take over when I want to make changes to a file?
