Win7's Windows Explorer has a full-width pane just above the Status Bar that shows some of the details regarding the item that is highlighted in either the Navigation or File Pane. How do I permanently get rid of this pane. I find that it is redundant and occupies precious screen real estate.I've tried the Classic Shell, Folder Options and the Organize->Layout possibilities.

I would also like to remove certain items in the Navigation pane that I don't use such as "Network" and/or "Control Panel" if possible. I have tried a program that was suggested in another post which was suggested by the user mickey megabyte and can be found [URL="[/URL] . However sadly, this program did not remove any of these unwanted items.
I was browsing my computer when i noticed in the navigation pane (left hand side of windows explorer) everything was under desktop.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a folder using the tree in the left pane the position of the selected folder change. It's like the layout of the tree pane is not working fine. Maybe they autoscroll in order to display all the child's folders but I don't like this. When the folder i want to open is in the middle of the pane (vertically) it moves often to the bottom and i can't even see the child's folder, and some time it move the opened folder to the top of the pane
I just would like to have the thing working as it's in XP. When we open a folder, this one don't move and the children appears under this one.
I would like to make a change in the view of Windows Explorer (not IE) in Windows 7 OS. I click on View and then Choose Detail and choose Date. That changes what I see in the Contents Pane. I can see the Date of the files. But, when I change to a different folder, I have to do it all over again. How can I make this change permanent?

If I have a long list of folders in the left window and I click on the small arrow to the left of a folder, it is supposed to show the list of sub-folders that are in the selected folder.
It does but here is my problem. Lets say the folder that I select is in the middle of the left window. When I click on the small arrow, Windows Explorer shifts the folder list down so that the selected folder is near the bottom of the window. Generally I can only see one of the sub-folders. And then I have to use the slider to move the selected folder up so I can see more than one sub-folder.
I wish it would leave the folder where it was and show as many sub-folders as possible underneath the selected folder.
Currently I am sitting in front of a Windows 7 (Home) where the WinExplorer shows at the bottom an additional bar for each fodler/file.Its NOt the status bar but a second one.How do I disable/hide it permanently ?

I blieve it may be linked to the new video card that I installed. After I changed the stock video graphics card that came with this HP desktop station (Win 7 64-bit), this started happening. I changed the video card to yet another one - the problem still there..

View 2 Replies View RelatedNot sure if this is due to my hardware or some setting in Windows 7. I have Win 7 Pro x64 on a Sony Vaio ZPCZ11. Using the MS Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 7000. In the file view of Windows File Explorer, if I click in the space and wheel scroll, everything works fine and the scrolling is smooth. But when I click in the Navigation Pane (Folder List) and try the same thing, it wants to scroll an entire page at a time. I cannot get the smooth mouse scrolling to work in this Pane!

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhat my plan is, is to remove Desktop from the Navigation Pane maybe using a Registry Hack but I think if it did, it would remove the others too since they expand from Desktop. I never use Desktop from Navigation Pane and just find it to be a nuisance to always have it collapsed and just remove it instead. I have already removed Favourites and if I can get Desktop to be removed I will remove the Homegroup and Network from that too using Brink's already made Tutorials.

There's a command that says MyCommand. If the current underlined key is 'M' and 'y' is not taken, how to change it to 'y' then?In Windows Seven and Vista there are context menu commands to open the folder favorite in the Nav Pane in a new window. But for some reason they are different. I'd like to make them both the same. That way I wouldn't have to think about it. Just right click a Folder favorite and hit the key.

Being right handed and wanting to use the mouse, now I have to reach across with my left hand to press the 'o' key. Is there no way to change the underline/shortcut/accelerator whatever they call it key in the context menu? I see no way to do it. I look in the Registry and I don't see any "&" in front of any of the letters. But the short cut letter is there just the same. There must be a way to change it.

If I hover over a file that doesn't have a preview handler, it says "Preview not available". However the preview of images does work. Office files and PDFs won't display. I have checked all of the suggested folder options and they are set correctly. I have also found the preview handlers in the registry and they are all referenced there. I tried repairing Office and also did a sfc /scannow.

Press F1 to run setup. When I do this, I get the ASUS EFI BIOS UTILITY screen giving various options. Pressing the "Boot Menu" button gives me 6 options. Pressing the SATA ST option results in the message "A disc read error occurred press CTRL + ALT + del to restart" on a black screen. View 3 Replies View RelatedI am unable to install Windows 7 or XP on my new build. I own a Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit Disc and the XP Disc is from my old PC. After choosing to boot from my optical drive, I receive a Windows Boot Manager scree that tells me that Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.

I have tried the following:
- Rebooting my PC and only having my SSD connected to my MB (no beeps)
- Rebooting my PC and only having my HDD connected to my MB (no beeps)
- Trying both of my HDDs connected to my MB (no beeps)
- Having both of my HDDs disconnected. (no beeps)
- Trying to install Windows XP, but I received a similar error (no beeps)
- Changed the SATA mode in my BIOS from ACHI to IDE - (my pc then made loud, rapid, and continuous beeps)
Do I have to send my drives back for an RMA or is my MB bad? Everything is powering on, but I do not know what the problem is. Could it be my SATA 6GB/s cables?
