I have recently installed Backtrack 5 kde with unetbootin.originally i wanted to install Backtrack on different drive than Windows 7 but since unetbootin wont let me i had to install it on the same one when choosing to unetbootin in the boot menu i end up with a message that ubnldr.mbr is missing or corrupt, status 0xc0000098 I have tried using EasyBCD to solve this but no luck?
View 1 RepliesI had windows xp professional 32 bit installed on my PC. I then wanted to test out Ubuntu so I installed the newest version of that on my PC. I was able to dual boot into both. Then I decided I wanted to go with Windows 7 so I installed Windows 7. All was well except I wanted to remove Ubuntu. I was following a tutorial and using Easy BCD I removed the boot loader for all of the Operating Systems.
Now when I boot my PC I am greeted with the Windows Boot Manager telling me
File: /Boot/BCD
Status: 0xc0000098
Info: The Windows Boot Configuration Data file does not contain a valid OS entry.
I have tried using my Windows 7 installation disc, a Windows 7 repair disc and also a Windows 7 USB installation and neither will run. I have gone into BIOS to ensure that the boot device order is cdrom when using the discs and usb for the usb.
So a couple of days ago my computer started to act up but this morning when i turned it on, i got a blue screen and it never wanted to turn on ever since. So i tried reinstalling Windows 7 again on the current system because i do not want to lose my pictures. Is there any way to fix this?

It is the only OS currently installed on my computer but I want to install Backtrack 4 R1 so that I could perform a dual boot.The last time I followed the instructions, on the BIOS boot menu it displayed both my Windows 7 OS and Backtrack 4 R1 OS but the computer was forcibly and automatically logging into the Backtrack 4 R1 even when I tried to press the 'Up and Down' arrows on my keyboard to select Windows 7 to start in the initial OS boot menu. I could not move up or down to make a preferential selection.

I do everything correctly for WPA hacking, get to the final stage, and it tells me there is no directory to be found for the word lists (passwords).I am booting Backtrack from DVD on Windows 7 - it boots fine.Is this due to me using the same console? Press F1 to run setup. When I do this, I get the ASUS EFI BIOS UTILITY screen giving various options. Pressing the "Boot Menu" button gives me 6 options. Pressing the SATA ST option results in the message "A disc read error occurred press CTRL + ALT + del to restart" on a black screen. View 3 Replies View RelatedI am unable to install Windows 7 or XP on my new build. I own a Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit Disc and the XP Disc is from my old PC. After choosing to boot from my optical drive, I receive a Windows Boot Manager scree that tells me that Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.

I have tried the following:
- Rebooting my PC and only having my SSD connected to my MB (no beeps)
- Rebooting my PC and only having my HDD connected to my MB (no beeps)
- Trying both of my HDDs connected to my MB (no beeps)
- Having both of my HDDs disconnected. (no beeps)
- Trying to install Windows XP, but I received a similar error (no beeps)
- Changed the SATA mode in my BIOS from ACHI to IDE - (my pc then made loud, rapid, and continuous beeps)
Do I have to send my drives back for an RMA or is my MB bad? Everything is powering on, but I do not know what the problem is. Could it be my SATA 6GB/s cables?

View 8 Replies View RelatedFirst of all every time I am logged on to my WIFI at home, after a couple of hours, I get told that I am loged on to two WIFI networks (A and B), whilst I only get one set of bars in my statusdisplay (bottom right). When I switch off WIFI, network centre keeps telling me I am loged on to WFI B. A is the SSID and B is the typenumber of teh router I have, so there is only one WIFI signal. Secondly, after being logged on to my home WIFI, All activity seizes, I can not load pages, check e-mail, or anything. I can access my router and it tells me everything is ok, but packages seem to come to a halt. My PS3 can be online, so the problem is in my laptop I think. I have tried releasing and renewing my IP and resetting my router, but only rebooting my laptop helps.

I tried a few things, mostly the startup repair option that it would (recommend) to me next to the start windows normally option. this did absolutely nothing, and the problem continued. So I said ok, I give up, and decided to back up everything and completely reformat and reinstall windows. I did this, it installed successfully. I couldn't believe it...even after completely reformatting, I could not get past start up. The system repair option still does nothing, even with the disc in and I tried reinstalling it a bunch of times, but now it wont even do that correct all the way through, keeps coming up with errors talking about files either missing or corrupt. I wiped partitions and tried again alot of times, but nothing. Now it doesnt even recognize windows 7 as being installed at all. [URL]
I've got 2 2TB hdd running in a raid0 volume setup with Intel RST. I made a flash disk for the raid drivers. Then I go ahead and start the install of Windows 7, load the raid drivers, create a 1TB partition to install Windows 7 on and have a 3TB partition for storage and such. Installs windows no problem. When i restart the system windows boot manager appears with "0xc0000225 - The boot selection failed because the device is inaccessible"If i then restart the computer, i get windows error recovery screen, if i choose Start windows normally, it boots fine. If i choose repair, it just goes back to the 0xc0000225 screen. This happens every time i restart the computer.I've tried everything i can think of, such as changing the boot order in the bios and such.
