Installing Windows 7 On Raid0 Array, Boot Manager Status 0cx0000225?
Mar 15, 2012
I've got 2 2TB hdd running in a raid0 volume setup with Intel RST. I made a flash disk for the raid drivers. Then I go ahead and start the install of Windows 7, load the raid drivers, create a 1TB partition to install Windows 7 on and have a 3TB partition for storage and such. Installs windows no problem. When i restart the system windows boot manager appears with "0xc0000225 - The boot selection failed because the device is inaccessible"If i then restart the computer, i get windows error recovery screen, if i choose Start windows normally, it boots fine. If i choose repair, it just goes back to the 0xc0000225 screen. This happens every time i restart the computer.I've tried everything i can think of, such as changing the boot order in the bios and such.
Built a "super computer" with all the bells and whistles, did raid0 array OK installed Windows 7 ultimate on ssd 120GB drive.went to drive management found raid array, partitionnedit as 1 18TB drive without problem BUT when i tried to format it (quick since i suspect it may take days) and iwin sais failled to format drive.i will try to make a Loooong format and see what happens.
I am getting the following error from past 2 days :-It says "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, and click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your Computer".
Status: 0xc0000225.
Since i dont have the recovery disc so i downloaded the one from torrent but of no use as it failed to read from the USB.
So a couple of days ago my computer started to act up but this morning when i turned it on, i got a blue screen and it never wanted to turn on ever since. So i tried reinstalling Windows 7 again on the current system because i do not want to lose my pictures. Is there any way to fix this?
So i wanted to do a fresh W7 install on a new partition today. My setup uses two 500gb drives in raid0 with Windows 7 64bit installed. Using the windows 7 disk management tool i resized the main partition to give space to the new partition. I didn't reformat thinking i could do it before installation. So I used the microsoft tool to create a bootable usb drive. restarted, went into boot menu and set it to boot from usb first and booted into windows 7 installation from the usb drive. The computer was set up in raid0 when i got it and i did a fresh install of W7 and that time i remember it picked up the raid drivers and used those. this time however it didn't pickup any drives. I went to install and did custom install but there was no drives to choose from and after a scan it didn't find any either. i went back and booted into my main OS and used the disk management tool to format the unallocated partition. formatted as NTFS and set it to drive D. booted up from the USB drive again and there was still no drives in the list that i could install too.
I have been running Windows Vista 64 for about 3 years off of 2 HDD's in RAID0 and I just got a 60GB SSD which I wanted to install Windows 7 on it and still be able to dual boot my Vista 64 from my RAIDED drives. And then shrink the partition on my RAIDED drives to roughly 50% and create a new partition on them for my Windows 7 install to also be able to use to install programs and files. Which I was told elsewhere is totally possible. Windows 7 Install
When installing Windows 7 on my SSD I couldn't get it to install with the SATA MODE in the BIOS set to RAID, it would say "cannot install to this disc, check if its enabled in BIOS". So I had to set it to AHCI MODE, which worked, so I unplugged every drive in my system and installed Windows 7 on the SSD like this.
So the problem is when I plug my RAIDED drives back in they will only boot when the MODE in the BIOS is set to RAID but then the Windows 7 on the SSD doesn't boot as that only boots when the MODE is set to AHCI. In my BIOS the SSD is only visible in AHCI MODE, my RAID drives are visible in both MODES but as Intel_Array in RAID MODE and as 2 seperate drives in AHCI mode.
So I am in a bit of a pickle and not sure what to do... I don't mind have to change the SATA MODE settings in the BIOS to dual boot back and forth, but will I be able to shrink and re-partition the RAID drive so Windows 7 can use them? With the MODE set to AHCI I can boot to Windows 7 from the SSD, and after installing the Intel Rapid Maxtrix Storage Controller I can access most files on the RAID array so it does detect the RAID array even when its set to AHCI but will not boot the RAID array in this MODE.
I fear the problem may be with my BIOS, Motherboard or the Storage Drivers as the RAID mode should be able to support a RAID array aswell as a stand alone drives using AHCI. But for me it seems when I enable RAID MODE, AHCI fails to work on the SSD. This could be because I installed it on the AHCI MODE but thats all I could do.
My system:
Abit IP-35 motherboard Intel Core 2 Duo E2160 4GB DDR2 2x 250GB Western Digital in RAID0 booting with VISTA 64 (for about 3 years). 1x 60GB NEW Corsair SSD with Windows 7 (64) on it. 1x 640GB Western Digital Storage drive (currently unplugged).
I'm trying to install Windows 7 64-bit on my brand new custom PC, using a RAID0 drive array. I already set the array in the BIOS, and the BIOS sees it. All shall be going to plan...
Nope.
The beginning of the install goes fine, I accept the Terms and all that good stuff, it's loading files, yadadada.. but when it gets to the part where it's asking me where Windows 7 is asking me what drive it should be on, nothing is there. It asks for drivers (my SB750 RAID drivers) so it can find the drives, I put in my USB flash drive with the RAID drivers (I tried both from disk and website), it tells me that no new devices could be found.
I don't think it's a problem with my physical computer, So it's either that I messed something up in the BIOS or Windows 7 is being picky on it's RAID arrays.
About 2 weeks ago my computer started experiencing some technical difficulties when the video card went out. The screen began to be cut up by 3 discolored bars running vertically spread out across the screen. Realizing this was a video card issue i went out and bought a new Nvidia Geforce 640 and replacing the old obsolete one. While looking for instructions online on how to properly install the new driver, i came across one that said to use this driver sweep program to wipe the driver from the system then restart and install the new software. upon using the program however i might have cleared another driver accidentally in the process. it was abbreviated ATG or something along those lines. When i finally physically installed the driver upon restart the video problems were all fixed and the graphics were back to normal. However, after bios i get a quick detecting arrays error that flashes for a fraction of a second ( i had to record it and pause it off my iphone to read the array error) and the computer automatically reboots upon getting to the windows 7 logo.
I had a successful raid 5 array setup. It was assigned to g and while I was installing ps3 media server and then java it lost it's drive assignment. It shows up under disk management but asks me to initialize it. I really don't want to do that because it will format and i will lose the data on the volume. What else can i do to get my array to show up in windows with my data intact?
I have a 6TB raid array consisting of 2 3TB drives. I have the latest Motherboard with EFI bios. The Intel RST utility allowed me to set up this array, and it says it is bootable. I would like this to be my C: drive.
How can I get Windows 7 to install and boot from this array.
Running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I have setup a partition which I transfered from on drive to another and now my boot partition is on an SSD Raid array connected to an LSI 9260 controller. If I boot the computer with the RAID Array first, the computer will just hang there. No message no nothing after the Verify DMI success message. If I setup my computer to boot from CD first and the the RAID Array second and with a bootable CD in the drive, the BIOS will display the "Press any key to boot from CD" If I don't touch anything, then windows will load just fine when the boot sequence switches to the RAID Array.
i cant get windows every time i try i get the message "File:ootBCD Stauts: 0xc00000f Info: an error occcured while trying to read the boot conifguration data." ive tried going into windows repair from my repair cd but theres no os in recovery options
I Installed Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.1 yesterday on my Windows 7 and got this problem when it boots up I get the option to choose OS. Windows failed to start. A Recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your langugae settings, and then click next
3. Click "repair your computer."
Status: 0xc000000e
Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
Then I tried to run the Windows 7 installation disk, I go to the cmd prompt and run the
DISKPART
diskpart
list disk
select Disk X (X=disk where I installed all the OS, should be Disk 0)
list partition
select Partition X (X=partition containing OSX)
Virtual Disk Service error:
The pack is not online
and then i run the Bootrec /ScanOS, it came with 0 identified Windows Installations, this is why I come into the cmd prompt as I could not select the installed OS.
I've tried that from bootable cd to repair the install but the partition of windows7 is not recognized still.
i have a weird problem about my computer. firstly my dvd-rom doesn't work correcly ( i have changed my first dvd-rom cause of same problem ) . and last two days pc started to work very very slow. it opens in nearly 15 minutes and shut down in same time. i am facing with this error when i shut down before i waiting the opening screen of windows. and when this error comes it says1) continue bla bla2) do system restorewhen i select system restore it gave an another error like "cannot access required driver".
It's been about a week since my computer stopped working. Every time i try and turn it on I'm given the message[ Status: 0xc000000f Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.] I have burn a system repair disk that I acquired online but when i try the start up repair it never finishes, i know that the process should take awhile but I've left it to run for 10+ hours and still nothing
I have had an HP Envy 14-1110nr for just under a year now and suddenly it has been giving me problems the last few weeks. It started with a couple of hangs or random crashes over the first week. After 2 or 3 of those, the computer simply wouldn't start up. Every time I would turn the laptop on, it would get to a certain part, give me the following error and then restart, over and over.
"File:\boot\BCD Status: 0xc00000e9 unexpected I/O error has occurred
Nothing seemed to be working, and then finally last night I started getting errors from just about everything saying that my HDD was rapidly failing.SMART HDD Error 301 Intel Rapid Storage Technology gives me a warning saying something is wrong with the HDD.Microsoft also gave me an error saying that the HDD is at risk and to back up my files immediately. After doing one final test I was able to get the boot problem solved, at least it seems to be fixed for now but the errors are persisting. Could all of the errors that I'm getting because of that boot or is the drive really broken? Chkdsk shows absolutely nothing wrong with the drive at all, no bad sectors, nothing. Could it have something to do with the boot error that I was getting before or is it likely really damaged? The HDD in question is a Samsung HM640JJ 640GB.
this is what I did, since I have no CD-ROM, to install Windows 7 I created a partion X: NTFS and set it as the ACTIVE ONE, the put there the Windows 7 installation files, and opened prompt command to type bootsect.exe /n60 X: , next I restarted my computer, and automatically it booted into the Windows 7 setup, I installed Windows 7 on the partition C: and formatted the partition C:, everything installed and after the installation finished, a multiple choice menu appears that reads:[CODE]
ihave windows 8 my lpatop is acer aspire E1-531, I am trying to install windows 7 but boot manager wont show me dvd boot !! it show me only network boot what can i do to be able to boot from dvd
I set up the raid and everything bios related but windows 7 (64-bit) cant detect the hard drives even after i got the most recent drivers from gigabyte's website?
The BIOS is currently set mostly for defaults/auto except for where I needed to specify RAID for the respective SATA ports connected to the two drives I want to stripe and to boot from CD for Windows 7 installation so I adjusted these settings accordingly. The motherboard has an onboard AMD 890FX based RAID controller. I have two 2TB SATA3 drives configured for RAID0 using the onboard RAID controller software. The RAID controller software reports slightly over 4TB as logical drive #1. Everything seems fine at this point.Next step: Boot from the DVD to install Windows 7 Ultra 64. This attempt is a clean install, full (non-upgrade) version, to be installed onto a 4TB RAID0 array using two brand new HDDs.During the installation I supply the device drivers as specified by the mobo's owner's manual. Windows7 installation accepts them no problem. Suddenly, there is a problem... Instead of showing the available drivespace as just under 4TB, after the RAID hardware driver is supplied the list will then show two partitions, one barely over 3TB and another one roughly 1 TB. It does not show one 4TB drive after the driver has been provided from the mobo's driver CD.If I continue to install on the 3+TB drive anyway, the installation routine seems to go through the usual motions... But then comes up with an error... Something about not being able to prepare the drive for booting and to try to re-run the installation program again. It always ends at the same point with the same errror. I will post the exact error message after I give it another try. I should've written it down already, but it's no problem for me to re-create it.So... If someone posts that Windows 7 cannot be installed on a 4TB partition for whatever reason, like it cannot address over 3+TB of drivespace or other reason, then I can just forget about using the two drives in a RAID0 array and use them as 2 single drives.
I tried to install WIN 7 to a NEW HD (clean install) since you cannot do a WIN XP upgrade install. I left my old C: drive (WIN XP) hooked up while I installed WIN 7 to the NEW drive. Afterward I decided that my computer is too slow to effectively run WIN 7 so I took the NEW drive out (WIN 7 installation) and intend to put it in a new faster computer. Now when I try to boot up my old C: drive with WIN XP, I get a WIN 7 Boot Manager. What a PAIN in the A--. How do I get rid of the Boot Manager so my WIN XP will boot up normally?
I have a windows 7 home premium 64 bit. And when i start the system i get the following message.Boot Manager:Windows failed to start. A recent hardware of software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:1.Insert your Windows installation disc and restart the computer.2.Choose your language settings, and then click "Next".3.Click "Repair your computer."If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.Info: an error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration dataI searched the forums. But unfortunately i don have the installation disc.Is there any other way to get through this.
on power up the computer goes to a screen and at the top says Windows Boot Manager. insert windows disc. language, repair, Status: 0xc000000f info: boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible. So, I hit enter and it always goes back to same screen. I will not let me F8!!! I will let me F2 and F12. I do not have any disc to reinstall windows.
I have a system running XP. I partitioned my drive in half and installed Windows 7. I tried to start XP again and messed it up. I think it's trying to use XPs boot manager. Do I need to re-install 7 to use it's boot manager?
Now that I know this .iso works great, I want to put 7 on a partition on my main Vista system. I can't afford to lose everything like I did on the XP system. When I tried to start XP after installing 7 I got an error. "windows root system32 hal.dll is missing or corrupt"
I can't have that happening to my main system. Is this normal? Did I do something wrong? Will it happen to Vista?
I am using an Asus x58 P6TDeluxe and running Windows 7 x64 OEM. I have tried installing the chipset driver and intel matrix storage manager driver (to get SAS working) but both say "Does not support this operating system WNT_6.0P_64_MCE" and "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software. Setup will exit".
After installing a new GTX 660, my computer is now having problems with Windows Desktop Manager. Whenever I play a game like BF3 or Arma II, the desktop manager crashes. So far I have tried disabling WDM, repair install, using the hardware scanner, memtest, clean boot, and updating drivers. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I have: AMD Phenom II x4 955 3.4ghz 8gb of ram GTX 660 MSI motherboard Windows 7 2 monitors: 1 HDMI and 1 DVI to VGA with an adapter
when we compress the disk space entirely by going to my computer --> right click on the c: drive icon ---> properties ---> compress disk drive, the compression utility in win 7 accidently may compress the boot manager files that include the file bootsect.bak and the boot folder also . when the computer is restarted the machine hangs up and says "boot manager is compressed " and shuts down .at the prompt type notepad (since the recovery option boots from a seperate wim image it has notepad built into it ) press ctrl + o which invokes the open file dialog go to the open file field (ALT+N) and type c:oot and also see for the c:ootmgr file. right click it and deselect the option of "compress files to save disk space" when we apply the boot manager is again decompressed. also if someone finds this harder we can directly deselect the compression option by reversing the process used to compress the drive thats it . we are done
I used to have both XP & 7 & removed XP. I used to have to select from a black & white screen called Windows Boot Manager. Now it shows only 7 and I have to select it. How do I get rid of this screen?
I'm having an issue where my Windows boot manager is missing. However when trying to repair, there isn't even a win7 installation file on any of my HDDs. However if I search for a driver that may be located in a file, I can view all of my files on my C drive.
When I start my computer I receive a message that says "Windows Boot Manager: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.: When I try to use the Windows 7 Recovery Disk to repair the computer I get a blue screen of death. I have a reburbished Dell GX620 that currently runs Windows 7 that I believe orginally had Windows XP.
