View 5 RepliesI was recently poking about in the Group Policy Editor seeing if there were any changes between Vista and 7, but after I had exited and locked my computer I noticed my lock screen now shows as this:
http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/2/20092009100o.jpg
(I had to use my phone as it seems you cannot use print screen at this login)
Normally it would have the persons picture and name, and all you would have to do is enter the password, but it seems it has made it so you have to enter the Username and Password which is quite an annoyance.
I went through all of the settings to make sure that I had not accidentally changed any, from what I saw I had not changed any settings or if there were in fact any settings that causes this behaviour.
I've just upgraded from XP to Win 7 and its driving me mad! Evertime I leave my PC for a few minutes I come back and the screen is on some sort of neutral screensaver...and I have to renter my password to get back into Windows. I've gone into power management and selected 'high power' option, selected 'never' for sleep, hibernate and so forth..but still this infernal screen saver thing comes on dozens of times a day.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe just got a new computer that included Windows 7 software. My simple question is this. When we walk away from the computer for awhile and return to do something, the screen locks up and asks for a password which I recorded when we first set up the computer. I don't want to have to type in a password each time someone wants to use the computer since this is our family, home use computer. How do I turn off this option?

i have windows 7 64 but ultimate
my office has a terminal server and every time I launch it with dual monitors the terminal server windows do not lock at the maximum size. I can move the entire terminal server window up and down and side to side just by moving the mouse...it is irritating and not allowing me to use the computer efficiently.
If I use 1 monitor, the screen locks. The other guys in the office with Windows XP do not have this problem either.
For some reason my screen goes into the "enter admin password" mode when left idle. How can I make that stop? I get the reason for it, say if you worked in an office and don't want anyone to use your computer when your away, but this is a home computer.

I recently acquired a SC101 network hard drive and installed the program for it. Now, my computer keeps stalling at the shutting down screen (after the desk top closes, just the blue screen).
View 10 Replies View RelatedWhen I shutdown, right near the end the screen goes black as one would expect and then for a fraction of a second I get BSOD and it will restart and let me know that it BSOD'ed. It's a new install of windows 7 on a new PC that is working well under stress testing. And i haven't messed with much but xbmc and some light overclocking without voltage changes. I've uninstalled anything recent and some tuners that the mobo manu had on their support page.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSometimes, but not always, when I am restarting or shutting down my computer Windows freezes at the Shutdown screen, the little circle thing just stops spinning and nothing happens. I just built this computer a few days ago, installed every possible update/driver. Not very savvy when it comes to BIOS stuff or whatever the root of this issue is..
I am running the following:
Gigabyte X77 UD3H Motherboard
Intel 3570K
Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB Memory
GeForce GTX 660 GPU
Windows 7
Only programs outside of stuff that came with MB, GPU, etc is League of Legends. I noticed Easy Tune 6 was installed with the MB disc, messed around with it a bit but read bad things so deleted it. Thats all i can think of..

When i shut down the computer the screen turns off, but the lights and fans are still running, i have left it for several minutes and nothing happens. i end up holding the power button for about 10 seconds to turn it off. And when i do turn the computer back on a notepad opens up named "debug" containing a very long message starting with "[1204/172346:ERROR:backend_impl.cc(2086)] Corrupt Index file[1204/172346:ERROR:cache_util_win.cc(43)]"
This has been happening for the past several days now and i have come to worry a lot about the situation. I am not much of a computer..
I'm having a problem when my computer shuts down. It seems to just freeze on the "Shutting Down..." screen. After manually shutting down I get this as a popup when I log in again:
Code: Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48
[Code].....
I've found that when whenever I let my computer go to sleep, hibernate or restart it or shut it down then a blue screen will appear and restart the system. When the system comes to it will tell me the event name was Blue Screen and that the computer is recovering from a unexpected shutdown.I'm currently running my computer on the High Performance plan and not letting it go to any other mode?By the way, my system is a dual boot with Windows XP. XP is on my main drive and 7 is on my second drive.
