Sep 20, 2009I was recently poking about in the Group Policy Editor seeing if there were any changes between Vista and 7, but after I had exited and locked my computer I noticed my lock screen now shows as this:

(I had to use my phone as it seems you cannot use print screen at this login)
Normally it would have the persons picture and name, and all you would have to do is enter the password, but it seems it has made it so you have to enter the Username and Password which is quite an annoyance.
I went through all of the settings to make sure that I had not accidentally changed any, from what I saw I had not changed any settings or if there were in fact any settings that causes this behaviour.
How To Disable Screen Lock
Mar 25, 2011I've just upgraded from XP to Win 7 and its driving me mad! Evertime I leave my PC for a few minutes I come back and the screen is on some sort of neutral screensaver...and I have to renter my password to get back into Windows. I've gone into power management and selected 'high power' option, selected 'never' for sleep, hibernate and so forth..but still this infernal screen saver thing comes on dozens of times a day.

Terminal Server Screen Won't Lock In Windows 7?
Jul 28, 2011my office has a terminal server and every time I launch it with dual monitors the terminal server windows do not lock at the maximum size. I can move the entire terminal server window up and down and side to side just by moving the mouse...it is irritating and not allowing me to use the computer efficiently.
If I use 1 monitor, the screen locks. The other guys in the office with Windows XP do not have this problem either.

Aug 5, 2011A flashing lock/unlock icon (padlock which alternates form locked to unlocked) shows in the middle of my screen. The machine was built a few years back and hasn't changed significantly since then The symptom has just begun today) and only impacts Windows. The Linux install on this machine is unaffected I'm running Windows 7, with Office 7, both activated successfully (also running Open Office and Libre Office which were upgraded last week). Automatically Changing Screen Brightness?
Oct 5, 2011I just bought a new Dell N311z I've noticed that when the brightness of my screen is anywhere between maximum and minimum it automatically decreases or increases on will, without me doing anything.
I've also noticed that when the background on the LCD is of a darker colour the brightness decreases and when it's a lighter background the brightness increases itself.
I've tried everything from disabling the ambient light sensor to calling up Dell customer care and after having spent 3 hours on doing what they made me do it still hasn't fixed my problem. I reset the laptop to the factory settings, i reinstalled all the drivers as well.
I have a Dell N311z. Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

Oct 31, 2011I have been experiencing some freezes with my windows 7 ultimate, basically the mouse and the keyboard freeze and I have to manually shut down the PC, it only happen when I'm at windows or when the screen is automatically turned off, the strange thing is that when I'm gaming it never freeze, actually I played BF3 yesterday around 3 hours with max settings and it didn't happen. I don't know if this is related but I've noticed that firefox is been running slow compared to the past (after I moved to the 280.26 driver and now to the 285.62) and there was a java application opened when the freezes occurred (jdownloader). The hardware is all brand new except by the D hd drive (windows is installed in the other one) which had some kind of problem, here are my specs:

Feb 6, 2010i just work on ma pc by win 7 installed but suddenly blue screen came and i restarted. till that time im trying to turn on ma pc but in start up blue screen shows up and restart automatically. i try in safe mode pc comes up without any problem.

I've been using a Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 5000 and a Microsoft Keyboard connected to a USB port (not wireless) for several years with no problems and I installed the latest drivers from Microsoft. I've uninstalled and reinstalled my NVIDIA video driver. All drivers and programs are updated. I wonder if this is a problem with Winows 7?? I CAN load the screensavers manually, but this defeats the purpose of screensavers which adds some amusement and fun to an idle computer!!
